Peter Chang in Scott’s Addition!!! Tonight, my husband and I had our engagement party tasting at Peter Chang In Scott’s addition. I first want to commend the ambience- the restaurant is open layout, clean, and had nice music. Secondly, as soon as I walked into the door, I was greeted by the staff who was expecting me and my husband for the tasting. The staff were excellent, they were constantly there to bring out plates, clean, and bag all of our leftovers. The manager even discussed with us how we could modify each dish and their spice levels to fit the needs of our guests. And lastly, the food was delicious definitely not as Americanized, as I was expecting like all of the other Chinese food restaurants in the Richmond area. Many of these dishes had authentic flavors like Szechuan and umami. All cooked to perfection. Presentation of all the food was excellent! Thanks again!!
I got a spicy braised fish dish—so good! I dined in and asked for another bowl of rice and they provided it free of charge! I highly recommend Peter Chang’s for one of the best restaurants for Chinese food in RVA!
Food was solid as was the atmosphere! The waiter was super attentive and never missed a beat. Had the tofu stir fryed mixed vegetables, crispy pork and tea smoked duck 👌 Would definitely visit again!
Tasty food in a lovely space. The service was very fast and attentive. There are many gluten free options(be sure to let your server know you want the GFO) All our food was delicious and the serving size was generous. It’s pricier than your everyday take out, but this restaurant has wonderful quality. Can’t wait to return to Peter Chang’s!
Amazing value and portions for delivery. I sometimes get two lunch specials and it’ll last me like four days. The main menu stuff is pretty okay and is pricier. I don’t recommend going in to eat though, it’s cramped and hard to have a conversation with how close you are to foot traffic. The servers are not the friendliest but I don’t expect much. You gotta call out to them if you need anything.
Early dinner while visiting our kid at VCU. Thai chili shredded pork is extremely spicy, but we were warned and went for it anyway. The servings were large and the service was excellent. Definitely going back.
My friend and I shared a much needed evening of dinner and girl talk.
We were blessed to get a parking space right in front of the location.
We were greeted and seated immediately.
The waitress was attentive but gave us privacy.
My friend had chicken and vegetables with fried rice. I had the lamb chops with fried rice. All the food was fresh and well seasoned. The tea was delicious and nice and hot. The portions were more than adequate and we each had take home bags.
I highly recommend Peter Chang and will definately be going back soon.
Happy hour specials were a really good value. We got an order of fried pork dumplings for $3, an order of spring rolls for $1.50 and pork belly for $5.00. I wasn't expecting such low prices for such amazing food. I saw that a lot of reviews saying that the service was bad bit we didn't experience any bad service. The waiter was pleasant and service was quick but not rushed. Be careful when ordering anything spicy. The jalapeño beef was at the top of my tolerance level and I tend to like trying the spiciest things on menus. I definitely broke a sweat and would not have been able to enjoy it if it were any spicier. There were about 9 very large entire jalapeño peppers that were cooked into the dish. The mushrooms and peppers combined with the beef and sauce were all perfect. My wife got the golden mountain chicken and it was crispy and sweet (in a good way). I took several bites of her meal to counteract the spicy beef. The dumplings were good but their sauces were some of the best I've had served with dumplings before. The pork belly was a very generous serving considering the price. It was served on a bed of cilantro and hot peppers(if you avoid eating the peppers there was no heat so both myself and my wife were able to enjoy it).
We will definitely be back and are both looking forward to try some of the other items that jumped out to us on the menu like the lotus root stuffed with sticky rice and the sausage dishes that Andrew Zimmerman from bizarre foods has raved about.
This place has so flavorful food. All the dishes we tried were so good. Spicy as well 😬😃 but good level of spicy. Make sure to reserve a table if it’s after 6PM.
Nice atmosphere, courteous staff especially the server Ms. Tanya, quick delivery of appetizers and entrees, and follow-up by server after bringing the entrees. A very pleasant dinner experience for 4 individuals.
The food is just fantastic! They have a lot of unique in new variations on the Chinese food. Most is served family style so it's kind of cool that everyone can order something different and then you can try different things. The staff is very helpful in selecting in answering any questions. The food comes extremely quick, except for a few things. We ordered some soup bones and the waitress told us they would take about 20 minutes for them to come out. I've been here a few times I've always enjoyed the food, and haven't had a bad experience yet. Would highly recommend!
I've yet to have something at Peter Chang that wasn't so good I couldn't stop eating it well after I was full. The waitstaff was also very on top of their game, even though the restaurant was filling up fast, we were treated like the only ones there. We'll definitely be back!
Overall good food, but I’m not sure if the price points match with the portions and flavor of the dish. We liked our food and the service was great but 4 stars for good not great. It was definitely on the saltier side.
Very good food. Service great and fast. Pricey but worth it for most part. Dandan noodle were a little too salty but still good. Bang bang shrimp was tasty. Lamb chops good. We will be back.
Always a great dining experience here, especially if you enjoy authentic, roasty Szechuan spices! It will open up sinuses you didn't even know you had! 😄
Seriously, you can't go wrong with crispy pork belly, scallion bubble pancakes, and anything seafood or hot pot. This time, we tried the hot and numbing tofu skins-- so good, lots of chili oil on them; pork bao -- the bean sauce type dip with it was super salty but good and tangy; and the Szechuan fish in a stone pot-- the fish tasted so delightfully roasty and the texture was even better, so soft. It was an all around comforting, warming meal.
I went on a weekday evening and we were able to get a table without any wait. Service was prompt and good.
