As someone who is new to veganism, finding an exciting date night dinner destination for my husband and myself has been a bit of a challenge -that is until we walked through the doors of Postbellum. With terrific atmosphere (think if Restoration Hardware were to design a restaurant) the cozy cool vibe is accentuated by delicious specialty cocktails and an extremely vegan friendly menu (once he seated us, our waiter actually asked us if we had an special menu needs like gluten free, vegetarian or vegan (yay vegan's rejoice!). My meal started off with delicious street corn dipped in a coriander lime sauce that was so good I had to order a second serving of corn just so I wouldn't drink the leftover sauce by itself. Then I ate the braised tofu, and it tasted better than any steak that I had even eaten in my pre-vegaism days. I don't like any other type of tofu, but could eat the tofu at Postbellum for breakfast, lunch and dinner. So after some wonderful cocktails and delicious vegan fare, our waiter (who was super cool and who also has a vegan girlfriend (are we taking over?!) informed me that there was also a vegan dessert menu (cue the drool). I had the vegan chocolate mousse that was so good that after the first bite I wanted to take a moment of silence for it, and asked if I could give the chef a hug. I give Postbellum 2 vegan thumbs up, the service and the food were top notch. And for you non-vegans out there my husband says the Post Bellum burger is delish. :-)

Love Love loved Kimchi Hash for Father’s Day, Sunday Brunch! Husband had omelet and was equally impressed! Mother had pancakes wit FOUR different toppings! And Dad had the Sausage Hash. I would recommend every thing we had! And the server was sweet and attentive. Just Go!

We were there early on a Saturday evening to have dinner before attending a production at the Altria Theater. Perfect atmosphere for an anniversary dinner. The food was delicious. My husband had the Spaghetti Squash and I had the PEI Mussels. Both dishes were excellent. Superior draught beer, wine, and cocktail menu. Looking forward to returning in the spring and summer to enjoy the patio.

Postbellum has partnered with River City Bulldog Rescue 3 times now to host a vegan dinner that benefits the rescue. I've been able to make it to each one and each meal has been fantastic. I can still remember the dessert from the first dinner - it was so divine and decadent (and I would like to marry whoever made it). I hope you consider adding the 1st course from this most recent dinner to your menu. It was so good. I appreciate the effort that is put into the regular menu as well. While it's sometimes sad to see something leave the menu it's exciting to see what new seasonal items will be on it.

We booked this location for a private event. We had the Supply Room and the side patio to ourselves. It was great! Delicious food, fun drinks & amazing service by Aimee & Becca. Parking wasn't bad either. I fully intend on using them for events in the future!

Went for Brunch on Mother's Day 2017. Had the Quiche and my daughter had Eggs Benedict. Both dishes was great. Server was awesome. Went back that night and has the lemon poppy pound cake. The cake was great. Will be returning soon.

Several excellent vegan options! I had the hand pie last night and it was delicious. The Korean buns are delicious too. Postbellum is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood.

Immediate seating and fast service; street parking available but watch the signs for duration. Food was flavorful, good selection of drinks, very pleased the bartender stopped by the table to confirm types of liquor when making an off-menu drink. The menu does have vegan/vegetarian options but is more limited in selection than some others nearby. Will definitely visit again.

My family and I were recommended to come here and try out this establishment. And I have to give my honest opinion.. this place was amazing!!!! Me, my mother and my sisters came there on a Saturday at about 2:30 so it was during their brunch hours. We were greeted warmly by the lady at the front desk. She sat us down and gave us some refreshing glasses of water. (She turned out to be the manager Angie) but never even introduced herself as that at first just had a beautiful humble spirit. We then had a new waiter named Michael who I believe that has been working there for about two weeks. He was very knowledgeable and shared his experience of actually working where they get their fresh oysters from and now working I’m the restaurant now. Now to the real reason your reading this review- THE FOOD!!! Delicious is an understatement, everything was so fresh. We all order different things so we could try a variety of things on the menu. Everyone was happy with their dishes. The manager Angie and our waiter Michael would come and check on our table periodically and make sure that we were good with our drinks or anything that we need it. Highlight for me- I had ordered the oysters not knowing they weren’t even available right now (during brunch) but Angie worked her magic and was able to bring us out some oysters for an appetizer and literally anyone and everyone needs to order these heaven sent fresh oysters! We walked around the restaurant just to get a look at it and we checked out the patio and the upstairs rooftop deck and the private space this place is a beautiful establishment! It’s a welcoming fun, young, hip but also classy and welcoming to all ages. We are already planning our visit back during the dinner hours. Going to post some pictures for you guys to look at everything we got (which again was sooo good) and also just want to give a big thank you to the manager Angie and the waiter Michael and even the head chef that stopped by and said something to us as he was walking out. Everyone here on staff is so sweet so kind and really great at what they do I highly highly highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who’s looking for an amazing place with amazing service!!!

A unique spot in RVA. The truffle fries and drink selection pared with the rooftop bar make this a favored hangout. TLDR: This place has a little something for everyone. The drinks are strong and the food has fun flavored twists. The truffle fries and scotch egg are highly recommended. Drinks: Cocktails are a spin on some of the classics. Wine on top of a Whiskey sour is an interesting one. Great craft beer choices as well. Food: Great takes on American style fair. Very slim chance you'll be disappointed. The tendency is for rich and highly flavored foods. Not too much in terms of health here but tasty none the less. Atmosphere: There's a lot of fun flare and decor. Along with a rooftop bar. But things feel a little grimey and it's no to classy in places. This is the places biggest downfall. Not a stopper by any means. Staff: Down to earth and welcoming. They are friendly and really chill. It keeps the relaxed vibe of the place going. If you're looking for special attention or care, imthisbmay not be the place. We've always enjoyed our servers.

Great service, atmosphere and drinks. I loved the building and it's different intricacies. The cocktails are made well and the beer was great. I had the quiche that came with a side salad and I added bacon. The portion of quiche was not that large but priced appropriately for it's size. After looking around (and seeing how many people Postbellum can accommodate) we visited the upstairs rooftop bar. I would say this is definitely a nicer restaurant to revisit on a warmer day. Thanks Postbellum!!

Loved the rooftop dining and bar, service was great, and awesome selection of appetizers and drinks! My Beer Burger and pasta salad was delicious but my friend's pork was a little under-seasoned. Slightly pricey but worth it for the ambience upstairs!

This. Place. Here. O.M.G...... I don't remember what the name of my salad was but it's the one with Watermelon. It's probably seasonal but if you get a chance please try it. There's a burst of flavor in every bite. We also had the wings, (Super yummy) fries ( they are very tiny and if cooked too long they're no good.) The vibes are really chill as we sat on the rooftop at the bar. The sauces are all home-made as well. It's a nice place to have a nice meal. ☺️

We went for brunch and there were some great options from meat to vegan there was something for every one in our group. The pancakes were a fan favorite and the pecan butter received rave reviews. The space as a whole has a cozy Americana vibe and a larger space is broken into several smaller rooms.

Postbellum serves brunch Saturday and Sunday until 4pm! The atmosphere, service, food and cocktails were great. We had a Cello 75 cocktail made with Cirrus vodka instead of gin. To eat: sausage hash, quiche, bacon and grits. Portions were excellent and everything tasted fantastic. Those grits though. Yum! Jason was our server and we'll ask for him when we go back. He was awesome!

Rooftop bar with plenty of indoor seating on those cold or rainy Richmond days. Upbeat music fills the air in this very friendly space which includes two televisions and string lights illuminating the space. The Brussels sprouts (schwarma spice) were delicious, fried and topped with a Tahiti vinaigrette. I thought the pomegranate seeds were going to be too sweet but they paired perfectly with the salty sprouts. I got the Old Cody, which features Makers Mark, ginger syrup and bitters. It was simple and appealing but it tasted watery and had very little else going for it. My fiancé got the Madame Rosemary Geneva Pampelmousse, which rang out with a rosemary syrup along with the gin and grapefruit. It was extremely easy to drink but she felt it could've used even more rosemary.

I really enjoyed my Sunday Brunch experience at Postbellum. Chase the bartender was phenomenal! Didn't write down a thing and still managed to keep 9 orders correct. The Sangria is Strong so be careful..the Shrimp and grits were very tasty but the portion was small for the price. However the blueberry pancakes was a great size.

The rooftop bar is very cute! The drinks and food are decent, too. We ordered the berry mule, draft beer, a hot chicken sandwich (it came with fries) and the steak frites. The steak wasn't cooked evenly, but it was dry aged so still decent overall. I don't recommend the hot chicken sandwich (it wasn't hot, for one), the meat was kind of stringy and weird.

Had a nice quiet evening here on the rooftop. Drank a variety of cocktails, shots, and beers along with the charcuterie. I know this place gets busy but the relaxed atmosphere was a perfect night out.

Postbellum is an underrated gem in Richmond, offering a great selection of drinks and food in a unique and inviting atmosphere. The main dining area has a stylish, modern feel to it, but the real standout is the upstairs outdoor bar. The bar provides a lovely atmosphere for those who want to relax and enjoy a drink or a bite to eat, with a little fresh air. The menu features an excellent selection of cocktails, craft beers, and wines, as well as a variety of small plates and entrees that are sure to please. Whether you're looking for a romantic date night or just a night out with friends, Postbellum is the perfect place. Don't miss out on this gem in Richmond!

Decor was cute, our waitress was great but there was another waiter that also kept checking on us but he would come a minute after the woman and ask the same questions.... got the raw oysters and my bf and I both got the my strip steaks. Didn't care for the red pepper sauce, too much pepper taste with little else but steaks were cooked perfectly and nice and charred on the outside. My cocktail was also good!
