we had lunch. i had the fajita ranchero. really really good. comes with steak and chicken with green pepper, onions, and tomatoe covered with cheese. on the side is beans, lettuce, tomatoe, and sour cream. plus three tortillas. she had the fajita constello. not sure i spelled it right but it is close. that is shrimp, and scallops with green peppers, tomatoes, and onion. plus beans and lettuce, tomatoe and sour cream. plus three tortillas. the nachoes were good too the roja sauce was a little spicy but not too much. the service was excellent and the small space makes it very cozy. will go again for sure. worth every cent.
We were just passing through and found this great place. I totally recommend it to anyone who lives nearby. Large portions for the money, and very tasty.
If I could rate 11/5 stars I would. Excellent service and food. Had the speedy Gonzalez lunch (enchilada, fish taco, beans)and a guacamole salad. Perfect!
I had been here twice to mainly indulge in the margaritas- which are really good!
This time, I picked up Camarones a la Diabla (craving spicy) and Mexican Nachos. The staff was so sweet on the phone when I asked if I could substitute the beef for just more beans. He offered to add rice too- and I'm so glad he did! The staff was very friendly when I picked my food up, and the food itself was so filling and delicious. I'll definitely be back!
Great little place all around. The staff are so nice. The vibe is casual . Great alcohol menu, mixed drinks and beer, served cold and fast. You get a basket of chips with red spicy and white sweet/spicy sauces to crunch on. Me and my friend split King Nachos and we didn't even get through half. We both loved it.
Took a break from our usual spot to try El Caporal, and we were not disappointed! Really great food and service, and our food came out almost impossibly fast.
We visited at 5pm and got there at just the right time, because by 5:30 the place was packed, with not an empty table to be found. Seems to be very popular, and for good reason!
Perfect place if you want a relaxed, casual experience. The spanish music is kept at a normal volume, the service is fast and friendly, the food is delicious and the servings are generous. It's a little hard to spot wedged between the 7-Eleven and a house used as a business, but this just adds to the charm
From getting in, to coming out after eating, everything was exceptionally good. Their service was amazing and the waiter kept bring us back chips and salsa and the food was amazing. I will definitely reccomend to my friends and family.
We visited El Caporal for our son's birthday on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was busy with locals. There were many items on the menu, making it hard to choose. The portions were large, sending us home with lunches for the next day. The wait staff was friendly and personable. If we lived in the Richmond area, we would make this a regular place to dine. The parking situation is a little odd, but we have a plan for the next time! Highly recommend dining here.
We brought a fairly large group (15) with a mix of children and adults and they accommodated us perfectly. Food and service were top notch and they even sang a birthday song for us on 2 different occasions while we were there ( we had one birthday we were there to celebrate and another coming up 3 days later). We love this place!
Flavourful and tasty food.. Decent drinks..lot of vegetarian options and customizable dishes.. My fav was their potato enchilada and long island iced tea..
loved loved loved their arroz con pollo!!! The chicken actually had flavor in it and it was amazing. My boyfriend got the parrillada and loved the flavor of the chicken mixed with the steak. Amazing service as well, definitely recommend to give this place a try!!
Little Mexican joint that is hidden off of a side road, right off of Parham. Probably drove by this place a million times before I realized it was there. Just a little place nice and cozy. Overall pretty good food. Nothing special, just good straightforward Mexican cuisine. This is actually the second time I've been there. My weather today was pretty attentive and prompt unfortunately little bit of a language barrier wanted an unsweet iced tea with some Sweet and Low oh, but he didn't really understand and ended up bringing me a tea with lemonade in it, which I'm not really sure how it even got to that. I love a Chile Relleno, but unfortunately like most of the places in the area there's come in an egg batter which I don't like. The feeling was also pretty liquidy they're not much to it. After peeling off the batter I enjoyed it with the enchilada and rice. The rice was actually very good. Got to kind of look for the place it's across from the mall next to a 7-Eleven but if you're in the area I need some good quick Mexican food don't think you can go wrong here.
Been a customer here since around they opened, never disappoints. Their horchata is the best I've had in RVA, and it's not even close. I generally avoid ordering quesadillas, but theirs are AMAZING!! The chicken and shrimp quesadillas are to die for, not to mention pollo yucatan and fajitas (I could go on and on). Total visits are definitely well over a hundred times by now, and my orders have been super accurate. The only time there was a mistake, they insisted on fixing it even when I assured them it was okay. Love you guys!!!
I love the decor! Fast friendly service. Great food ans great prices. Very tasty and flavorful, esp if you like spice. Great veggie menu!
This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. My daughter and I were in the area and was craving for Mexican food for lunch. Decided to give it a try based on google reviews. We both loved our food, our waiter Jose was very nice and attentive even though they were super busy. I ordered the new lunch special shrimp burrito. The whole burrito was filled with shrimp and nothing else. It was very flavorful. My daughter ordered the Carnitas, it was the best Carnitas. I end up ordered another Carnitas to go because we liked it so much. The portion was generous. With tip our bill was $21.
We love it. Go before 6 to avoid the noise
Spent 20+ years in Arizona/California. El Cap is hands down the best Mexican-American place I’ve tried in the southeastern US. It’s basic surroundings, with a huge menu, super friendly staff and food that comes out incredibly quickly. They don’t have an actual bar, but their margaritas are delicious. Y fuerte! I get legitimately excited when I get coupons for this place bc I know I’ll be back soon. There’s something for the whole family and it gets v busy during lunch/dinner rush, but no matter, those dudes turn tables at lightning speed. I👏 love👏 this👏 place👏
