I don't understand the negative reviews. This place was a GREAT typical diner. Waitresses that call you sweetie and baby, breakfast the size of the table. Highly recommend!
Good Reuben. The place has that shiny diner look that is clean and retro stylish. On this visit I was meeting friends and did not pay as close attention to my surroundings as usual. What I can report is the Reuben Sandwich was delicious. Service was a little spotty but that was partially our fault for being a bit unconventional. Everyone we encountered was cheerful. It was an excellent place for us to get together.
For diner food and breakfast for dinner, River City's the best in town. The breakfast quesadilla's a favorite of mine, and they're very good about taking custom orders for things not on the menu. My only complaint is that they aren't an all-night place; I'd much rather go there than Denny's or Waffle House when I want unhealthy food at midnight.
50's Diner through and through. If you like 50's decor, kitsch, posters, music, and movie stars, (as well as diner food), you'll like River City Diner.
The food was exactly as expected - tasty, yet inexpensive and filling. The background music will have you singing along to the oldies, and the food and decor will remind you of days gone by.
They serve breakfast all day, so any time you're in the mood for eggs, pancakes, or the chicken-fried steak and egg combo that I had, they're eager to serve.
Great, flavorful burgers cooked as requested. Chili cheese fries are delicious, milkshakes also impressed.
Great location. I had the seafood omelet and it was fresh. Immediately seated.
The atmosphere was quite lively and there wasn't much of a wait to get seated. The server checked on us in proper intervals, and was on hand to help. The food was great, and wasn't packed with sodium like most places. The only downside to my experience was the number of hands that were visibly rolling silverware after only wiping in their aprons and slacks. Do drop by there if you're ever in Richmond.
Good selection of Salads for a diner. They seem everything from burgers, shakes to breakfast any time of day. Love the chili that I got along with the salad. Very good service and make sure to try their fresh made biscuits as well. My friend loved his cheese burger. Found out it is one of only two River City Diners and locally owned and operated businesses.
Great breakfast spot. We come here so much the servers know our favorite drink orders and often suggest new concoctions we should try. Food is priced right and is served quickly. Plenty of TVs to catch up on the latest happenings in sports and the news.
Good food. Very scattered staff. A member of our party had the wrong food delivered to her and when she told the server about it (several minutes after it had been delivered bc we couldn't find her) she said "oh I grabbed the wrong thing" and walked away without saying anything else. The girl whose food was wrong continued to eat the wrong thing bc we had waited so long for the food that she was starving and then several minutes later (maybe 7?) the server brought the correct food out. The food was good though, and our server was friendly and nice.
Would go again for sure.
We visited on New Year's Day. The place was full but the wait was under 5 minutes. The food and service were excellent. The coffee was exceptional. There is plenty of public parking nearby and reasonably abundant parking on the street. It is worth getting off I-95 if you're looking for an authentic diner.
Found this restaurant using Google maps and I couldn't be happier. They have 3 diner locations in the city, I believe. I ordered the crab cakes for breakfast. Crab cakes tasted fresh and I went for the double order. Only order the double if you're hungry cuz it's a lot of food. I will definitely be stopping here again in the future!
This dinner is the best I've ever been to. The food is great and not too expensive. The waitresses are warm, welcoming and always smiling. Will definitely go back when I'm back in Richmond !
Simply the best late night diner. Fantastic Milkshakes and breakfast. Good food is complimented by the instantly familiar setting, chock full of hometown pride.
Good people with food that will fill you up!
Milkshakes. Get them. Strawberry is the best. Pb and j is good too. Turkey Reuben is yummy, nachos are a great late night "snack", breakfast is awesome!
Excellent, traditional coffee. Pancakes are huge. Not too crazy about the coffee but that's just me. Great music playing in the background. Recommended.
The service is great. My favorite breakfast food is sausage gravy and biscuits, but out of a lot of brunch and breakfast places in richmond, it's kind of bland.
