Never a bad experience!. I've had the Shrimp and Crab Alfredo, Cheeseburger, Greek Salad, Crab Dip, Hummus Platter, and Chicken Paremesan (in different visits!) and loved everything. I have yet to find something I don't like. It's becoming a tradition to have lunch there and definitely looking forward to trying their brunch!
Middle of the road. Everything I've ever tried at Northside is GREAT -- fresh and high quality ingredients. The variety is lacking a little, i.e., outside of appetizers, there are only a few salad choices, and then it's pretty much sandwiches and burgers from there -- there are a few entrees, but they aren't available until after 5:00. Service isn't great, but it's not because the staff isn't wonderful (they are!); they just seem to stay understaffed. Still, well worth the visit, and the food will never disappoint.
Good casual dining. My wife and I eat dinner here a few times a month. We enjoy the casual atmosphere, the dinner specials, and great draft beer selections (there is always something new on tap!). The staff has always been attentive and good spirited, and the food has always been quick and delicious. On a few occasions we have had to wait 15-20 mins during peak hours for a table. We didn't mind and easily found a drink at the bar and friendly patrons to pass the time.
Classic... w/Good Food. The GOOD: This place is just the perfect, classic Richmond grill. It's in a historic neighborhood, has "down-home" styling, a huge bar, big booths, nice staff, fair prices, and you can tell they just "try." And the food is about a hundred times better than a diner or a chain restaurant. Love the crab dip. Mean nachos. Happy hour specials. Nice outdoor patio. Easy parking. Offers carry out.
The BAD: Perhaps a little out of the way... not much else in that area.
VERDICT: Northside just works for me. Where else can you find construction guys having a beer after work, officeworkers doing shots, families having dinner, and some kid celebrating his six year old birthday. It makes me nostalgic. Perfect place for lunch or happy hour... love it.
Great burgers cooked just the way you want. Delicious spinach salad. Large servings and great specials. Outdoor dining. Great service. Love it!
NSG rocks! The food is classic American cuisine with a very homey feel. My wife and I have been here twice and the waiter, Eric, remembered us from our first visit which was nice. We can't wait to come back for date night.
Little known secret. Always great food and always busy but never a long wait at this neighborhood spot. Real gem.
Food and service were great. Staff was friendly and attentive. Cool, laid back atmosphere but quite loud when they have live music. We went with friends who we hadn't seen in awhile and it was difficult to carry a conversation. Great signer and music though!
Cute little spot, food was amazing and FRESH. The seafood pasta was amazing scallops cooked perfectly, north side burger was phenomenal did not even need ketchup! Kids corn dogs were even freshly made which was a pleasant surprise as opposed to the usual frozen foods other restaurants serve to children. I also got a house salad which was simple yet crisp. 10/10 recommend! And Joey was very kind and attentive!

This was our first visit and we went around lunchtime. I ordered the steak quesadilla which had way too much gristle and overcooked. Lacked flavor, spices. My husband had the sausage and pepper quiche with a side of potato salad. That was a winner! He thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was great and very friendly service.
Food was good, soup was a bit overpriced for the size of the cup and they were out of crab, so no Famous Crab Soup, but the steak burger was a good size and the fries were a generous portion 💕 all tasted great.
Drinks were great, Lemon Drop wasn't too sweet and the Cab Sauve was perfectly oaky, great with the burger.
Atmosphere was chill, Band was great! Definitely coming back for Party Favors.

Great neighborhood bar. Frequently has special music nights. Always quick service. It's a bar. Nothing fancy but nothing bad. Really enjoy going here for a drink and a bite. They have cake!

My husband and I just came across this place on Labor Day. We went to a different place to eat only to find it closed. So we tried here because we saw it on our drive and decided to check it out. Bonus points for being open on a holiday! When you walk in it looks like a cozy local neighborhood type of pub. Low lighting inside with a bar in the middle and booths all around. The service was friendly and helpful. It was also a laid back environment. The best part is that the food was delicious. They had a pork chop special with mashed potatoes and gravy that my husband has been telling everyone about. I had a Western Burger that was very delicious! The burger was cooked the way I asked and it was juicy. The way a burger should be. I also got sweet potato fries for my side. Most places charge extra for those, but this place doesn't! How refreshing. Craft beer is on sight on draft, bottle, and can. Pepsi products are also here and there's good carbonation! We were so full that we didn't have room for dessert, but they looked good! The prices were so reasonable for the amount of food we had as well! Two people at for $30. Check it out! You won't be disappointed.
1st time here, nice bar, cocktails properly mixed, which seems hard to find. I had the Cuban on rye and it was very good. The potato salad was very good as well. Hubby had the Club, it was too hard to hold and eat and fell apart, although it was good and the coleslaw was good also. We will be back again.
