This is the comfort food you didn’t know you needed. Some friends and I happened to stop by during a quick trip to Richmond and had one of the best meals in quite a while. The flavors are well rounded and nuanced and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The vegetarian duo app was great-if you love collards their collards are truly top tier. Really informative about their food and ingredients. Also: I bought a large packet of their berbere Ethiopian chili blend to take home. Used it to make a spicy garlicky honey glaze for smoked chicken wings, and it’s unreal!
An excellent Ethiopian restaurant that I have patronized in all three of its Richmond locations. Too bad they are finally going out of business, but subscribe to their newsletter to be informed of pop up sites and special events.
First time here. The food was very flavorful. They certainly know how to use their spices. We ordered the meat combo with 3 veggies. We included red lentil stew, mushrooms, and green beans and carrot. We also tried the cheese appetizer which we really liked. They also make a good cup of coffee and chai.
Great Ethiopian restaurant, food was amazing! We were greeted kindly right away, the menu was perfectly simple. Great Vegetarian options as well. I recommend the Doro Tibs w/Shiro and Siga Wat. Lovely restaurant can’t wait to be back in Richmond!
Inviting atmosphere and service. Delicious vegan options. I loved my first taste of Ethiopian cuisine with the vegetarian combo. Will come back again soon!
This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to in my life. I think about it every day. I've had Ethiopian food at bunch of other places- this is my fav. Go now. Also I'm vegan- love that vegan options are clearly marked.
I visited here on the Discover Richmond Food Tour (Lindsey was our tour guide and she was amazing), and the food was amazing. I am now in love with injera! The owners were friendly and warm!
Had the meat combo with baklava for dessert. 10/10 experience.
Wow wow wow. This place - the staff, food, quality, service, etc. - is amazing. My husband and I visited Richmond and were excited to try this place! When we arrived they told us that the brunch menu was available, so we tried a few things and were blown away by it all. So much so that we decided to visit again for dinner! Every employee was above and beyond kind and personable. We will most definitely be back and can't wait to try everything else on the menus.
Yosef and Ben immediately make you feel welcome, walking in there made me feel like I was coming home for my favorite meal. Yosef is extremely knowledgeable about his recipes and clearly is a master of his craft. He spent extra time after they closed to talk with us and was not rushed. This was truly one of my favorite experiences I've had. If that's not all enough the food is so good and unique in its flavor truly one of a kind.
100% teff injera ‼️ Super important for people with Celiac like me. Most Ethiopian places in Richmond use a blend.
The food here is amazing. First Ethiopian restaurant I’ve ever been to that has salmon tibs. I also ordered the turmeric and ginger lamb which was phenomenal. The service here is great and it really felt like home. I appreciate you all. Thanks for a great late lunch with me and my dad.
If you're looking for a casual but unique dining experience, check out Nile. Small place tucked just enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this restaurant offers a menu that is sure to excite your taste buds and won't break the bank. The staff was friendly and helped explain what each dish was, how to pronounce them, and what to expect. My date each got a sampling of veggies and meat dishes, each one packed with spices and flavor. Only thing to consider is if you want to go with more than 4 people, I'd definitely call ahead, as seating is limited and they may not be able to accommodate you right away. Perfect casual date spot though.
Amazing Ethiopian food:). They will be closing down the restaurant soon but will still be open for catering, so look them up online if you don't make it into the restaurant before then!:)
A true hidden gem. It’s not really a big restaurant but more like a bistro/cafe with a couple seats and tables. They serve some of the most essential Ethiopian dishes. If you don’t know what to order, just go with veggie and meat combos. Then you get to try a bit of everything.
Absolutely fantastic food. Wonderful variety. Visit this location before they move and then again afterwards. A happy belly remembers fondly.
Had a fantastic meal here the other day, as I do every time. We ordered the Ayib Tikel to start with and they are truly morsels of joy! We both shared a veggie combo plate and by the end it was all gone. The folks who create this fabulous food are so warm and friendly. Love this place every time I eat here. If you want food that will delight your belly and sooth your soul, this is the place.
I’ve never had Ethiopian food before. Visiting from Massachusetts, my partner and I tried Nile for dinner. It was amazing. So flavorful, everything was delicious, and the food filled us up - we hadn’t eaten all day. 10000/5 stars.
Great taste of Ethiopia. Fresh food, great price, friendly service - had a good time discussing the World Cup with the staff! Highly recommend.
