Really love the decor and staff at this restaurant. Family owned, always very nice and friendly. This was one of my best friends favorite place and always came on his Birthday. I haven't been here in quite a while and coming back from my daughter's practice, driving by, thought we would stop in. I always wanted to like this place, but it's just not my jam. I never thought the food was very good. Always seems fresh and served hot, but not sure how they cook it or spices they use. My wife got the taco chicken salad, which is on chips not a bowl, which actually is a neat twist. Everything was ok, but just bland. She gave me a piece of her chicken and it had now seasoning at all. I got the tamales, but could hardly finish 1, came with 3. The sauce, mole I think, was just overwhelming and not good. It almost tasted burnt. My daughter liked her meal though. I liked their salsa, but it was to spicy for my wife or daughter, it definitely had a kick. If you haven't been here, I would try, seems like the people who like it, love it. Unfortunately not me.

I moved to the west end many years ago And I was talking to a friend that lives south of there and I said let’s go check out La Casita. I have to admit it’s probably been 20 years and it looks the same when I walked in this evening as it did before. It’s nice to see a local place succeed as long as they have. . The food was as amazing as I remember. I had a chimichanga, and my friend had the steak fajitas and you could not go wrong with either. We had Pleasure to be waited on by Kim. She was very nice and personable, and when it was time to get our containers to take home, she actually gave us new containers of the sauces with the chips. She’s a keeper. Ask for Kim. Thank you for keeping things authentic. I look forward to you returning soon.

This place was amazing! First off, the atmosphere is very welcoming and fun while the service is great. Food is very fresh and sooo good! We got three salsa options and they were all incredible. Our server told us it was all made in-house. We’ll be going back for sure!!

I love this mom and pop style Mexican restaurant. Looks like a family own establishment. I ordered beef taco, and shrimp quesadilla. It was pretty good.

First time visiting this establishment and everything was great! It's definitely cozy inside and so fun with all the lights and decor and traditional music. It's an old favorite of my mother-in-law's. We stopped by for lunch after a morning outing. Food was great, portions were a good size, and complimentary chips and salsa were fantastic! La Casita has 3 special dips they provide to every table; red, white, and green salsas, with increasing spiciness. We only had the red and the white salsa, the green would have been too spicy for us. Their white salsa (an apparently VA local creamy dip that I love) was thicker than others I've had from other establishments, and definitely spicier. It may not be not my ultimate-favorite local Hispanic restaurant, but it's my MIL's and I'd gladly go with her again.

By far out favorite Mexican restaurant in Richmond. Excellent service. The quality of the food is consistently wonderful. We love the fajitas, but everything I have had has been great. Always start with warm chip and the trinity of sauces. The green jalapeno sauce is my fave and their crema is unique and hearty. They also don't bury everything in cilantro. Ambiance is charming with strung lights and casual dining antosphere. And though we haven't ordered off menu, the menu is a suggestion, they will do their utmost to build whatever you like. Thank you guys!

Very unique Mexican place! They have your standard dishes but with fresh ingredients. They make their own margarita mix, their own salsa, and their own chips. Just beware that since this is the case you have to pay for any chip refills. Love the atmosphere and decor.

Awesomesauce Mexican restaurant! Hidden gem that I didn't know Richmond had since the 80's. The staff is very helpful & friendly in this unique original interior. The sauces are spicy for me nonetheless they're all made. I got the dinner combination veggie style & didn't miss the meat. We'll be back to try more options on the menu! Great job La Casita!

It's not much to look at outside, inside you get that warm, kind of funky, "we've been here a long time and we are what we are" feel. Let me assure you, if you dont like the hole in the wall exterior appearance, or the kind of interior decore they have chosen, place your order any way. The first fork full of their delicious hand crafted Mexican cuisine will bring you back again and again. Guaranteed. The food was outstanding. The wait staff excellent. This was our first visit and we are future regulars.

Great service and food! The white sauce is creamy, garlicky, and cheesy (cold). The salsa is smoky, fresh, and salty (not too much). Overall a wonderful experience!
