Had two sliders and fries for $9. Sliders were delicious. High quality beef, grilled just right, for a good price. Fries were good, too. Decent selection of beer and mixed drinks. The beer I choose was $9 for only ten ounces; wish I had checked the price before ordering. Atmosphere: alternative rock and draped colored lights for decoration.
Awesome spot downtown for some good comfort food and drinks. The decor and bar is setup is really cool and unique as well.
This was impressive. I wish it had a touch more spice to go with the sweetness of the waffle but the sheer size was amazing.
Great food... tried the sliders beef and pork were both exceptional... good draft prices for local brews
A great, relaxed spot to grab some drinks and grub. Their signature sticky nuggz are excellent, and are pretty much the reason to go. Service was attentive and always kept us stocked on drinks and anything we needed. I also recommend the Mac and cheese bites and pickle chips, but the pickles are bread and butter chips, so beware the sweetness if that isn't your thing.
Another great place in downtown old town Richmond. Went here and heard they were well known for their fried chicken and cheese biscuit and boy was that right. So savory, full of deliciousness and so tasty. Tater tots and sweet potato fries are good too.
Looks cool inside - very creative. Antique things on the shelves, walls made of doors. The bar is made from a van or something.
Downside - it's pretty loud, the music is a lot of hip hop, and the food is pretty standard.
They have great drinks, though. If you like fruity, yummy drinks, then this is for you.
We went for an early Sunday lunch, which worked out since they weren't too busy. The service was fine and the food was definitely good.
As a starter we had some garlic parmesan wings, and as a garlic fan these delivered. I got two sliders with fries as a meal, the Nashville hot chickenand 50/50 burger. While the chicken was ok the burger was great, would get two of those next time. With some champagne heavy mimosas this was a great lunch.
I will literally never turn down a chance to go to Billy Jacks. Their food is amazing, especially the Leghorn sliders. Their bone club is super fun and they have a great list of mixed drinks as well. Me and my friends are regulars at trivia and we always have such a blast. Billy jacks is one of the best beer joints in RVA for sure.
Yay - they had my fave Founders Breakfast Stout on tap plus waitstaff service was perfect! Was with happy hour group. Menu looked yum, but can't comment because I was a draft and dash customer.
Love Billy Jack's! Get the Sticky Nugs and try their cocktail menu. It's all very reasonably priced and great portions, not to mention it all tastes great.
These are the folks who do Jack Browns so I'd imagine their sliders and burgers are amazing.
Great pub food and service is definitely 5 star. The Greg Brady slider is paired well with the Longhorn, so you get the best of burger and chicken. Plenty of value for the portion size.
We stopped in for a quick bite and to catch the start of the Spurs playoff game. Unfortunately, there are only two televisions in whole place, and they were tuned to the NFL draft with other patrons already glued to those proceedings. This is certainly not Billy Jack's fault, but hopefully others learn from my mistake and realize that this is not necessarily a great spot to catch a game.
The food and beer selection, on the other hand, is on point! I had the chili mac that was just as rich, spicy, tangy, and creamy as it should be. The bag of Fritos served on the side for a crunchy topping really struck home for this South Texas native. My wife enjoyed the Southwest Chopped Salad with saucy fried chicken chunks they call "Sticky Nugs". The barbecue sauce on her chicken was a bit sweet for our taste, but this is probably just a personal preference.
Although we didn't partake in an adult beverage on this particular visit, the cocktail list was interesting and reasonably priced. Their craft beer selection, both draught and packaged, is expansive and also well priced. We're excited to come back for some of the hard-to-find gems on the beer list.
Our server was warm and helpful. My only critique of her performance is that she could have been a bit more engaged in curating the experience of a couple first-time guests - maybe some suggestive selling? My gripe that most kept me from rating Billy Jack's as a five-star joint is the limited scope of the food menu. Don't get me wrong, I am all for doing just a few things really well and delivering a focused aesthetic and high quality product. However, even the salad came off as "stoner" junk food. I question whether we could put together a meal that feels healthy. This combined with a touch of corporate stiffness keep our experience from going over the top... small gripes, I know.
Overall, a decidedly good, not great, night out.
Billy Jack's has a fun atmosphere with plenty of quirky decor. The open face biscuit I had for brunch hit the spot! Luckily for me, my wife ordered the sticky nugs which I was able to have a few of. I'm not a big fan of the chinese take out box that its served in, but they are really delicious.
We had a big crowd from work and shared a bunch of items. The Fried Mac Nuggs are the best and so are the Sticky Nuggs. The Crispy B&B Pickels were wonderful. Try the CHILI-MAC ROYALE too. I had The Joint and added their house pink sauce even with fresh jalapenos it was just the right amount of heat. I even took home the Buford T. Justice for a Friday breakfast treat...it was huge!
If you want burgers and other similar comfort food, Billy Jack's Shack is hard to beat. Great beer selection. Do not go if you're trying to eat healthy. You can, but you're wasting the visit!
