I went for lunch buffet near the end of lunch. The price was very good for the quality. The staff made more of things for us even though we were the only customers. My partner thought it was sugary which I didn't catch. The food was neither spicy or very heavily spiced. Good mix of vegetarian and meat options.

Food was excellent; don't ask me to pronounce exactly what it was that my companion and I had, but it was delicious!

I'm genuinely surprised by some of the negative feedback here, considering how positive my experience was when I had lunch here today. When I arrived, I didn't realize it was close to closing, but our host warmly invited us in anyway. After mulling over the menu a little, I decided to get the buffet, especially considering the variety of vegetarian options. Once I got back to the table and had my first bite, I was very impressed by how savory the food was. I would have made a trip back for some more bread to go along with my mixed vegetables, but our server had already sat down a generous portion of it along with a couple spicy sauces. I used the spiciest one because I am the type that orders "Thai hot" at Thai restaurants. That said, everything was seasoned pretty well, which is a big must for my palette. I also ordered the mango juice when our server inquired if I'd like some, and I sure am glad he did because it was a spiritual experience. As far as the atmosphere of the dining room, I'd describe it as quaint and cozy - very relaxing. I will definitely be back!

Farouk's is another locally owned restaurant easily reached by walking from my home. The owner and his wife are very friendly and courteous. The food is particularly delicious, and they are always mindful to ask how hot we would like the spices to be, either mild, medium or hot. Usually we go there for dinner, and the food has always been very fresh. If you haven't been there yet, I highly recommend trying it!

Service was excellent and food was delicious! We were greeted immediately and the friendly staff were very attentive to our needs, ensuring to refill water immediately and check on us frequently. I had the chicken tikka masala and with a split side order of garlic naan my tastebuds were instantly inundated with wonderful flavor. My wife had the chicken kashmiri and enjoyed the delectable dish as well. We have been going around trying Indian restaurants throughout town and were quite happy with the meal.

The food, service, and atmosphere here is excellent! We are vegan, and our servicer was more than happy show us the options that would work for us. The food is delicious and the serving size is just right for the price. Will definitely come back with friends!

We loved this place. Nice authentic Indian food and delicious at that. Love the rice! The beer is outstanding and very enjoyable. Parking is around the block or where you can around then walk to place. Nota big issue finding the place at all. Owners are very nice and welcoming. We used a Groupon it’s no issues, I will return!

Farouk's has the best Indian food out there! I don't know why so many people have a problem with it. Maybe they just don't like spicy (and authentic) Indian food. I love everything on their menu but I have to say, my very favorite is the lamb vindaloo! As one other poster noted, they are not shy on the spice and make true, authentic vindaloo. If you are not used to a good, hot curry, you will need to order an extra bowl of rice! The service is wonderful, the people there are very nice, and the decor is elegant. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking high quality, authentic Indian cuisine.

I love Farouk's! The atmosphere is not glitzy, but it has character and the food is very good. Although I am sure the ownership has changed, I've been eating here since the 1980s and have always enjoyed it.

The BEST service I have gotten in a LONG time! The waiter was so kind & attentive. Not only did he immediately respond to a food intolerance, but he was also incredibly accommodating and always with a smile on his face. The Tikka Masala was delicious! I highly recommend Farouk! ( They have a great Groupon deal going on right now!)

Wonderful food, friendly attentive and delightful staff- a great place! I am genuinely surprised by the negative feedback here. Of course, everyone is welcome to their opinion, but after eating at India K Raja - which everyone apparently just loves- I think Farouks is SO much better. But Farouks, for some reason, gets a bad rap. Farouks butter chicken is heaven on a plate, their Tandoori is always delicious, their rice has never been less than perfect ( & don't knock good rice, many, many Indian- American places don't get it right). And with the exception of Anokha, the BEST samosas in Richmond. Every time we go to Farouks, it's an easy delightful evening- no waiting, wonderful food and some of the best service in town.
