No Orange and White, But Great. Not the Texas Chain, but made to order, tasty burgers and fries. Highly recommended.

Not the Texas Chain!! (but it's okay). A friend and I were going to lunch one day when we stumbled across the What a Burger. I recently moved from Texas to Virginia and remembered another burger place with a similar name. We stopped in and asked them if there were any relation to that chain and they said no (they also said they came first, ha) but we decided to stay anyway. The place is ran like an old timey burger diner with a very simple menu selection. Burgers, fries, shakes, and some related side items.
Everything is made to order when you order and is generally high quality. The people that owned it or were at least managing it that day were very friendly the whole time. I was very pleased with the meal.
What A Burger is awesome. The focus is on the Burger. The facility is old and run down, outside bathroom, dining area dingy. BUT, the Burger is awesome. I recommend take-out. The only downside is that they tend to overcook or sometimes burn the meat these days recently. I hope management notices and monitors that more closely. The What A Burgers in Prince George, Petersburg, and Newport News all shine. This one just needs a remodeling job and DON'T BURN THE MEAT !!!
Just cut the menu up in strips and put it in a hat. Whatever you pick, you will be happy. It's hard to complain that it's not enough space inside. Feels like it that changes it would change the quality of everything else. If it ain't broke, leave it the hell alone.
Do not be confused. This place is not the same as the big orange W that makes floppy and lifeless burgers. This is one of those hometown places where you walk in and all the informational signs were printed at home and scotch taped to the register. Where you can see the dude behind the clerk making your burger on the flat top right in front of you. If you are looking for a fancy place, this ain't it. But if you are looking for an A+ cheeseburger with the speed of fast food but the taste of home cooked awesomeness. This is DEFINITELY it. Fantastic burger. And the fried Mac and Cheese went straight to my arteries in the most delicious way possible.
Just the average place with a good greasy burgers good fries and tingly Coca-Cola. It's what you look for in these types of places nothing fancy but just a good burger. The burgers used to be the full size of the Big Bun which they aren't anymore but they're still good. It's a back in the day spot that's still around.
Good Ole, What-a-Burger. This place gets slammed at lunchtime. it had been a while since I've been to one and never been to this location. I beat the heavy rush, but still was about 3ppl deep to order. Got a burger all the way, with bacon and grilles onions. Food was fairly fast since they made it fresh for you. Tasted good, fries were a bit undercooked, but nothing too bad. They have a number of tables and a counter you can sit at. Not very big. Few picnic tables outside but it was raining when I went. Burger, fries, and a drink for just under $16, not too bad. Much better than a McDonald's or BK burger, almost how mom would have made it at home.
The food was amazing and their service was amazing. The chicken burger was too salty🥲.
Food was delicious. We got double cheeseburgers and fries. 😋 Do wish they had a non-bean chili, but it was still good on the burger! 😃 The chicken tenders were great!
This place is good as hell. I ordered today through uber eats. They actually paid attention to the instructions I put in the notes . The burger was good and fresh. Good blend. The fries are thick crinkle cut. Also good. Definitely will order again.
This location is probably an old gas station, as the bathrooms are on the outside of the building. Besides that the food is good and the people are awesome. Also the price is very good.
Just for nostalgic flashback decided to stop into Whataburger to get my old school fix on as I remember the place the food bought back memories of my youth and my old 66 GTO I had my single with fried onions and french fries sadly I would have gotten a milkshake but we don't get along anymore but they will always remember to be awesome food was good service was good I will be back as soon as my doctor lets me try one of these again not healthy food but damn it brings back some good memories
One of three What-a-Burger locations left in VA; one in Newport News, one on Jefferson Davis Hwy, and the Roy's in Richmond.
Hamburgers 🍔 that taste like Beef 🐝, fresh fries 🍟 , and cold shakes 🥤 makes these locations a great lunch spot 😋!! And don't forget about the Onion Rings! Killer!! 🤯
Still can't beat the lunch or value!!
The Food Is Awesome I had a Double burger with Everthing It was so Good and A Strawberry Milkshake And They have So much to choose from. Hot dogs, chili cheese fries,Fried pickles and fried Mac and cheese . If you're HungryAnd Craving a good Burger This is the place to go
Good local burger spot, decent onion rings and crinkle fries. This is not however "What-a-burger" of Texas fame. Still a good burger and similar style.

The staff was friendly and the food was good. Some complain about the price, but you could spend the same money at McDonald's and get worse quality. I was happy with the size and flavor of the buger and the mac-n-cheese bites were yummy.
Super yummy and inexpensive food. Staff was friendly and service was quick. This is a favorite with our family!
Sooo delicious!! Best double cheeseburger ever! Awesome onion rings! Yummy cinnamon toast crunch cake!! So convenient and friendly staff.
