Crazy, beautiful Thursday nights. If your soul is playing hooky, you'll probably find it here... My experience with Emilio's is limited to Thursday nights for music and drinks. I don't know about the food but order it anyway just to show your patronage of a very special place. The evening kicks off with Roger Carroll on sax and vocals with his band of Stable Geniuses. It's a jazz/blues sound that could not be more contemporary in its sentiments. If you're not an old, white person, please don't be put off by the abundance of them. It's all good. The music and the attitude that goes with it will give you hope and give you new life. Grab some of that, stay longer or come back later and you're likely to hear some of the best Rap free-styling that Richmond spits. One DJ controls the beats as participants one-by-one do their honest best to create the rhymes to go with it.
In one evening you get to not just hear but experience two radically different musical forms delivered by folks with talent and heart. Buy the food even if you're not hungry. Tip the bartender even if you're not drinking. Just please, keep this wonderful stuff alive. Some day, it may keep you alive.
If you love live and vibrant jazz, this is your spot on Friday nights. Great place to unwind from the work week. Welcoming ambiance and lively atmosphere. Food is great, however not a lot of variety. Parking can be a pain as they don't have a dedicated parking, and restrooms need remodeling. Overall, recommend it. It's a regular Friday visit for me.
Love the atmosphere, it's like Cheers after midnight. The band was in perfect unison. Our food was delicious and true to the culture. Everyone there seemed alive and happy the place had great vibes and that's what makes this place special!

Historic Jazz spot for Friday nights. If you haven't had a chance to head down and check it out. Richmond has always been a city for music and this little place is the heart of blues and r&b. Cheap drinks, good people with great stories, and something beautiful to Bob your head to.
Very active and lively place. Something different to do every night. The music and bands are awesome. I really enjoy the poetry night on Mondays but there are no rules to respect the mic, therefore, there is a lot of noise in the background while people are speaking.
Great atmosphere. Good cheap food. Beer ane a shot $6. Great entertainment. Open mic on Mondays. Plus you can buy art from the wall if you like it and support local artists.
We had a wonderful evening. Went on a Saturday a little before 6pm - easy on street parking. Got the Happy Hour price on our beer. Tapas were EXCELLENT! Fresh and flavorful. Music started @ 6 and was a wonderful compliment to the evening. Used our Groupon with no problem.
No complaints - would go again.
Great little dive bar. Beer selection is good, prices are great, happy hour specials are very reasonable. I think the tapas are overpriced for the quality, and could benefit from adding a few less fried/heavy options.

Who is Emilio? I just know the music, the server-♡ to Apple, the wings and the atmosphere was so laid back- Great place. The neighborhood rest/ pub was very nice! Um old but they made me feel vibrant and so happy!
Great music and amazing food. Best drink in town. Best Jazz artist in town Thursday night and Friday night. Dinner specials are an amazing deal! Crab empanadas are off the charts.
