I've been in the restaurant business for over 20 years. I have owned some of the top award winning spots in Baltimore including a a BBQ chain (Chewy's). We currently have a food truck here in RVA, Charm City Crab Cakes. We are always looking for good BBQ so we asked people on our page where to go and Ronnie's came up quite a few times so we went there yesterday. I have been lucky enough to have BBQ from some of the highest rated places in the country from NC to TX and everywhere in between. I can honestly say that Ronnie's beef brisket is hands down the best I have ever had in my life and I have had beef brisket from at least 150 to 200 other establishments. The ribs were also very good, the service was great, the food came up very quick, and the prices were great. Ronnie even came over and greeted us and after we ordered some two go sandwiches he treated us to one, very generous of him. I really can't say enough good things about this place. Well yesterday may of been our first visit but it will not be our last. I can assure you it will be a weekly stop for us when we come down here.
I always judge a BBQ joint based on their pulled pork sandwich, and Ronnie didn't disappoint. The meat was tender, and properly flavored with that Carolina twang, but not at all over sauced. Meat was moist, but lacked that cafeteria wetness that is so common with pulled pork. Finally there were some burnt tips in my sandwich which perfected the experience with the occasional crunch. The coleslaw was nicely peppered and complimented the sandwich perfectly.
Will definitely be back!
Best bbq ever!! The sampler platter is my favorite because I love everything so much I can't ever make up my mind on just one thing. Though the brisket is probably my favorite, literally melts in your mouth! So yummy! Staff is extremely friendly also.
Best bbq in my life! The customer service was excellent as well. Will definitely be making this my place to eat whenever I'm back down in Richmond. Highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Amazing! Our first time eating here was today not disappointed! It was fantastic by far the best bbq ive ever had! The beef brisket sandwich was so tender it melted in your mouth. Everything was great. Can't wait to go back.
Ronnie Logan and his friends and family come from about two miles down the road and won barbecue competitions for years before the bike trail inspired him to settle at this crossroads. On September 29, 1864 the Richmond Howitzers were sitting at this exact spot, until the U.S. Army's X Corps sent them back to Richmond. I suspect - even then - those hungry U.S. troopers could smell the deliciousness from Ronnie's cooker. It's all good - the Q, the chicken, the fish, the cobbler! Best greens you can find! This is NOT extruded industrial fast food, this is great local cooking by folks who live up the road.
We stopped here at our half way point on an 11 mile hike. Fun place to stop, they really appreciate your business and love taking pictures with the various groups that stop by. Food is fantastic and prices low. They have music playing outside along with tables and clean bathrooms. There's also seating indoors. The food is served with love! I had the collards, Cole slaw and BBQ. All great

One of the best BBQ sandwiches I've had in the RVA area and a great place to stop while on the Capital Trail! Try their cornbread!
He had the food truck at 8006 Discovery Drive today. The food was great !! I had a chicken BBQ sandwich with baked beans. The chicken was tender & tasty We hope to see him in this area on a weekly basis. Thank you
We visited yesterday and had a wonderful experience. Overall the food was excellent; well seasoned and properly prepared.
Ronnie’s doesn’t offer a platter (2 meat, 2 sides) option, so I got the brisket box with collards and string beans as well as a half pound of pulled pork. I can’t resist hush puppies so I added an order as well as the lemonade cake.
The sandwich was heaped with moist and delicious brisket. There were no burnt ends but the slices had a decent bark.
The slow cooked southern style string beans were peppery and delicious. The collards were perfectly cooked but need a little kick.
In addition to the other sides there was also coleslaw. The hush puppies were the best I’ve ever had and I’m sorry that I didn’t get more.
The lemonade/iced tea pound cake was one of the most interesting cakes I’ve ever tried. The texture and crumb was perfect, and each bite was flavorful. The cake was perfectly moist but the flavor is tough to describe. Don’t miss it if you appreciate Southern cake.
We were told we had to try their jackfruit BBQ sandwich since we were in the area. Let me tell you, even if we weren't in the area, it is totally worth the drive. And those fries 😋 🤯😋The owner greeted us and took a few moments while we waited to talk to us. I love his BBQ journey story. I didn't expect to get the amount of jackfruit on our sandwiches so I was a little upset that I didn't have another bun. The quantity was enough for 2 sandwiches!!! It was amazing! You have to go. And Mr. Ronnie, we're bringing our massage chair up there next time for you😉
Please visit this restaurant. My husband and I saw it while driving buy and decided to order some lunch. We tasted our food in the parking lot. It was so good, we went back and ordered more food. It's the best bbq we've had in Virginia. Get the sampler.
I was greeted as soon as I walked in by all the staff like I was at home. They were super polite and the atmosphere is super chill. It’s clean and the food is 100 percent the best BBQ I’ve had in Richmond! We ordered a bit of everything and it was amazing! 10/10 would recommend!!!!
Everything was delicious. We ordered online and did not have to wait too long for the order to come out once we arrived. The fish box was well seasoned. The bbq sauce was sweet with a little spice. I loved the hush puppies. The ribs were tender Everything we ordered was good. It was two of us that shared the meals and we had enough to eat the next day. Would most definitely go back.
This restaurant is definitely 10/10. We had the bbq jackfruit sandwich, chicken bbq sandwich, fries, potato salad, beans fish, chicken tenders, hush puppies, peach cobbler all was delicious.Definitely added to my list of restaurants. I only took 1 picture of the Jack fruit sandwich. I was ready to dig in lol.
Atmosphere: It's a BBQ pit - what do you want? You drive up, pick up, and drive away.
Service: Fine - Promptly made a suggestion, took our order, and returned moments later with the food. It cost more than I typically spend on BBQ, but the value is in the product.
Food: This is what made the Service, Atmosphere, and anything else irrelevant - we ordered 2 sampler boxes, and within was the BEST brisket I've EVER put in my mouth. The chopped pork wasn't far behind, either; it was delicious even the next day. The chicken was smoked over wood, charred over flame, not drowned in some sweet sauce. If it wasn't 300 miles away, I would be a regular. I've grown up on BBQ, and for over 50 years I've had what there was to offer from all over North Carolina, to Austin and Memphis, even Cambridge, Massachusetts and St. Lo, France... and I can unequivocally say I've never had the equal of this brisket. Portions were plenty, perfect texture, perfect temperature, wood smoke flavor throughout, perfect amount of fatty streaking, not dried out, used good cuts of beef... a glorious culinary achievement. I just need to say "Thank you, Ronnie. Well done."
Mr Ronnie and his family are BBQ kings! Hubby and I stopped enroute home to Williamsburg and so glad we did. Ribs were smoky, tender, moist and sooo flavorful. Sauce on the side. Yay! I prefer my ribs dry rub style and this rack knocked it out of the park. Also got wings. No chick wings here. Nice whole smoked wings left this wing nut speechless. And the Hubby craves those baked beans. Hush puppies and potatoes salad were delicious sides totally in keeping with the quality of the meats. Thank you Mr Ronnie! You’re right, we will be coming back.
First-time visitors' ,The food is very good. The smoke wings and fired fish were very good. Overall,
all the food is good . I will be returning soon. My son loves the flavor of the food he said he is going to try the chop barbecue. This top-notch barbecue. Great job, Ronnie
Stopped by for lunch for Black Restaurant Week. Ordered ribs, pulled pork sandwich, turkey leg, sides for the family. I enjoyedd the pulled pork sandwich. All the meats were very tender, but we felt they could have been seasoned a little more. Same with the sides. Fortunately, we all enjoyed the sauce. The cornbread and peach cobbler was also very good.
