Excellent service and delicious food and drinks! My husband and I come here often. Yesterday, our waiter was Dustin, who was very attentive and courteous. I ordered a Mango Cerveza Rita and the Chicken Grande Burrito. Both were very good. The food portion was generous for the price and more than I could eat. We love their chips and variety of salsas. Always a pleasurable experience at Abuelo’s.

A group of us ate there recently and I know my husband and I enjoyed it. To us it's worth the drive to eat there. I do wish we could get one in Lynchburg! It's my favorite Mexican restaurant!! We first ate in the one in Chesapeake at Greenbrier Mall. We tried to go when we were in town visiting family. We like the chips and salsa and I especially like their Salsa Blanco. When you first opened it was always brought out to the table. Now I have to request it. The other thing we preferred was the old way of bringing out the salsa in larger deeper bowls of the hot and milder salsa. I do not like these rectangular, smaller dishes. There's never enough and sometimes when the place is busy it takes a while to get more salsa and chips. I wish you would go back to the deeper, larger bowls. The Salsa Blanco was brought out in the larger bowl. Not a fan of the sweet green salsa, although our daughter seemed to like it.
My husband really likes the steak and shrimp fajitas and sometimes he gets the shredded beef tacos. I enjoy your enchiladas and think yours are the best. Better than any of the ones I have had in any other Mexican restaurant. I also like the spinach casserole dish.
The only thing that I have had I didn't like is your warm cheese dip. Too me it was practically tasteless. (I was surprised my son-in-law liked it.) I think your recipe needs tweaking. So I have never ordered it again. Sometimes some waiters and waitresses are better than others. But that can happen anywhere. Most of the time they have been good.
Sure wish you would open one in Lynchburg, Va. It needs an upscale Mexican restaurant! With so many colleges around and the way it is growing I think it would do well.
We have been here many times and have always had great food and service. Today was my birthday and Dustin was an exceptional server. I haven't had a sopapilla since we left Arizona and this was better than a birthday cake. Thank you Abuelo's for making my birthday extra special!
It’s always wonderful but for some reason it was exceptionally delicious this time. We drive from Radford to go here. It’s my husbands favorite place to eat.

5 stars indeed! Absolutely the most fresh & best Mexican food I've had in quite a long time. As new residents of Roanoke... damn excited to find my new favorite restaurant to get my Salsa & Guacamole ON!!!!

After 2 visits I can tell you that we will be going back again. The food is delicious, portions are generous, prices are very reasonable for what you receive. I might add that the service is also excellent. I highly recommend Abuelos 😊

My husband and I stopped there for lunch today. The food that we had was great! I love their guacamole! My husband had the Marinated chicken fajitas and I had the Yucatan shrimp fajitas. Our waitress, Kristen, was sweet, helpful and very knowledgeable about the food. We'll be going back!
I give them 4.5 stars. I like this place. It's a little different than the typical Mexican restaurant. I have been here many times. The service is typically fast and professional. The food tastes good too. The prices are somewhat higher and the portions seem to be slightly smaller. If you go normally for a large amount of food, then ask for a to go box, you be disappointed. They have a great variety of food you don't get in other places.
Great selection of good food great atmosphere and great service if i had to complain about anything it would be the thin chips but everyrhing was outstanding they even plated my food, simple but i never had a meal plated at other mexican restaurants and now i fear i will expect it now lol.
This is a nice restaurant with regular seating as well as a bar area. The setting is beautiful, the staff is attentive, and the food is very good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes authentic Mexican and Tex Mex food. It seems to be a little pricier than other local Mexican restaurants, but it also seems as though more money went into building and decorating the restaurant.
Had a great time with my family at Abuelo's. I had a delicious Fajita combo with well done steak and bbq shrimp. We were full from dinner so we ordered cake to go and enjoyed that later.
Food was awesome. Sat at the bar and the bartender was polite helpful and very attentive. Glass was never empty wish I could say the same about my plate. Unfortunately wasn't able to finish the combination fajitas, but loved trying. Would definitely recommend.
Food + service here is always great and has to be one of the best places for Tex Mex, not only Roanoke but Myrtle Beach too.
My daughter even dropped her “kid’s quesadilla” on the floor and the waiter brought out an additional one. How awesome was that.
Pro tip: Switch out your rice or beans for the “papas”. You won’t be disappointed!
Absolutely amazing food . The best I have ever tasted . And the waitress Jessica was very pleasant and friendly .. Highly recommend eating here .
Really nice and elegant Mexican spot. Ideal to go with family and friends to have nice and fresh Mexican-TexMex food. Dishes could improve being more "real" Mexican. Service is great!. Price are affordable but not cheap.
