Great food. Friendly Staff. Simple, fast, and delicious. I don't get to often, but I love eating here. I recommend a double cheesy western and a bowl of chili.

Just like I remembered 30+ years ago. Just the place to go when you need a quick bite, good food, cheap!

Just popped in for a quick hotdog, this place is awesome. Not only is the food delicious, but it's fast and they guys working there are friendly.

You can never get an atmospheric zone by sharing stories with strangers and the food is fast and great! I ride 35 minutes just to eat there. The employees are very well voiced and humorous! My kids and I love this place.

A place you must go to when you find yourself in Roanoke. If you want to sound like a local, ask for a “cheesy western bowl with.” It may wreak havoc on your digestive tract later but that’s all just a part of the experience. Personally their plain double cheeseburger is my favorite and their chili is very good. Bring cash because they won’t take cards and they might cuss you out waiting for you at the ATM. They have cramped parking on site. The atmosphere is very cool at night with all the neon and the establishment has a rich history.

My wife and I came here on a whim. We had never been before and didn't know what to expect. First impression was a little startling, it was a hole in the wall feel. Small diner feel. Menu was basic with burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and Chile. We tried the western and a bowl of Chile each. My wife loved the chili and I have to admit it was decent for the amount of beans. (I personally like very few beans in my chili) I had two hotdogs with chili and they were fabulous. We both loved the "feel" of the diner. The no nonsense but friendly staff. It was as if we stepped back in time. Off duty staff was even playing cards in the back room! This was a welcomed change of pace that didn't disappoint. Oh! Make sure you have cash. We usually carry cash on us, so it wasn't an issue. They do not take credit cards but do have an ATM available of needed.

I love Texas Tavern! It's like taking a step back in time when you step inside. Reminded me of a 50s diner! Food is made to order and was delicious and very reasonably priced! Staff were fast and friendly! It was a busy weekend night and very crowded but that didn't stop the good service or amazing food. Would highly recommend!

This shirt has been passed down through multiple generations now. My dad took me here every time we had to make a stop in Roanoke. You know what you get every time, delicious hot fresh food (with no ketchup). I still crave that chili when it gets cold. Try it out if you’ve ever been!

My husband and I just happened to walk by this tiny building and saw a sign that said, "Hamburgers $1.75 Chili $2.15". We looked at each other and said, "that can't be right." It was right. As I mentioned, it's a small place but when we showed up with an order for our LARGE family, they didn't beat an eye. They were friendly, courteous, helpful and generous. I wouldn't say it's the type of eatery that everyone will enjoy because they have a very specific style of food. But, if you like mustard and are looking for something different to try, I would definitely recommend stopping by. They're open nights and Sundays.

If you got to Roanoke, go to Texas Tavern! They are open 24 hours a day serving great local fare. Hot dogs, burgers, cheezy westerns, relish, and amazing chilli. They seat thousands, 10 stools at a time. There is also outside seating and to go options. Try anything, you will love it.

I was randomly walking by and was lured in by the vintage vibe this place puts out. Ordered a bowl of chili, coke, and ultimately two burgers. Homemade relish is great, and everything else was honestly fantastic, especially for the price (which came out to be ~$11 for all that). Can’t think of anywhere else where you can get that much good food for so little. Lastly, while other places that try to do the retro vintage thing can come off as tacky and inauthentic, this place is legitimate. They claim that nothing has changed since 1930 and I certainly believe it. Eating in here truly feels like stepping into a different era.
