A friend wanted to check this place out. I'm so glad she suggested it. First, the place itself is totally cool, loved the atmosphere. Another thing I like was the coat rack- simple thing, but it's not too common in restaurants. It was nice to be able to hang our coats up and not drape them over the backs of chairs. Yes it is loud in there, but for us girls having a night out with dinner and drinks, it only added to the fun vibe. Second, our server Allyson was amazing! She had us laughing the first minute we were seated. Third, the food was delicious! We shared the octopus and a special of the night, called gnudis. Let me just say that those gnudis were the best thing I've ever eaten in a long time. Allyson recommended entrees for dinner and also suggested cocktails based on what we wanted to drink. I love bourbon and if you do as well, definitely try The Billingsly (might have spelled that wrong). I'm not a fan of s'mores, but we shared the s'more dessert and it was so good! I think because they make their own marshmallows it wasn't sickly sweet. The food is a smaller portion then some restaurants and it was perfect, I was satisfied but not uncomfortably full. After dinner we went to the bar area for a bit. It was a great night out! I highly recommend checking this place out!

Best food in the south wedge. Music in the background was intentional and the vibes was great. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Greg and Jodi have put together Rochester’s finest dining experience. You will not find a better selection of Bourbon, or food! Anthony and Liam are two of the most knowledgeable bartenders I have been around. The atmosphere is outstanding, and the service is top notch. Thank you for such a great experience!

We were impressed! My David surprised me for my birthday. Everything was perfect...the ambience, service, drinks and food. Our server Alicin was very attentive (as was all the staff) explaining the dishes and answering our questions. We went out of our comfort zone to try new food and it was out of this world. You must experience The Cub Room! It's a gem in Rochester!

I threw a surprise birthday party here for my husband this past weekend and what an unforgettable night! Maria and Jodi were great to work with and helped me plan a great pre-fixe menu for 25 people in their semi-private dining room. Caitlyn, our server helped decorate and was AWESOME the whole night. It's not easy working a table that large and she didn't miss a beat; very attentive and accommodating. The atmosphere, cuisine & staff are what makes this place one of our favorites. Way to go Cub Room!

So happy we randomly decided to dine here tonight. In short, this is an excellent place all the way around. The service was exceptional. Our main server was Sean. He provided excellent menu and cocktail recommendations as well as the history of the restaurant. The staff clearly works as a team and our food arrived quickly, cocktails were on point, and our water was always topped off. They even brought us extra bread with our appetizer. The food…. Wow. Where to begin? Everything was perfectly prepared and the flavor pairing is unique and wonderfully balanced- yet nothing overshadowed the main ingredient. Perhaps some of the best scallops I have ever had (seriously). The chicken was so simple, yet so perfect. The Brussel sprouts are seriously amazing— I love how they took such a simple ingredient and elevated it. Try this place- it’s hands down one of the top restaurants in Rochester.

Excellent flavors and service. We had halibut and a spaghetti special with razor clams/roe and the choice of ingredients and flavor profiles were well balanced and a delight for the palate. Wonderful desserts. Service was attentive, friendly, and professional. Only negatives were that it's a bit loud inside and the choice of background music is a bit incongruous with the rest of the experience. Regardless, a wonderful dining outing. We will return!

Although the quality and understated creativity of the food is outstanding, it is undermined by both the loudness and the genre (heavy metal) of the music. I had a very well prepared and delicious wild halibut which ended up as my date, because the music was so loud I couldn't talk with my actual date who sat across the table. Maybe they should have a moshpit to match the music and we could have interacted physically, even thrown the halibut at each other. What happened to the cozy tables that I used to sit at? When we asked why the high volume and why that genre...we were told the owners chose it because they are trying to reach out to a different clientele. They sure don't want me and maybe I should take the hint. The Cub Room's become a stylish urban venue/setting trying to attract a younger hip? crowd who have never been out of Monroe County. The restaurant has a dining area along with a nicely placed bar. The music might be fitting for the bar, but not the dining area. We had an annoying night. Maybe it was all a mistake, but I doubt it. I think it might be one of those so called "good ideas" that simply didn't work, yet it is there to stay. I think the staff was weary of telling the owners of diner's disapproval. Sort of like the Wasa Warship story which sank in the harbor in Stockholm. Who knows? I really loved the Halibut, but a bottle of beer without a glass and a bag of nachos would have matched the music better. Again, the food and service was great, but the ambiance undermined it.

Upscale dining with a nice mix of music. Our server was named Benjamin (Benny) and he was wonderful he explained all the items and struck up great conversation. Our food was AMAZING!! WE started off with the appetizer devils on horseback. I recommend that if you have never tried it. Next was the Fois Grois. Never had it before and it melted like butter in the mouth. It's a thing where I wanted to try at least once but not something I would do alot since I know how it's made. Very great tasting though. I have had the Amish chicken before and had it again. It's very well seasoned and so tender. The bolognese was not as good as the Amish chicken. The drink were amazing and you can actually taste the alcohol which is great especially for how much they cost. The best way to top off the night was the store dessert. Hand down the best dessert om the menu. Overall the place is wonderful the and the food was wonderful. The food is pricey and not something I would do alot but good for a special occasion. Easily can spend $60-$80 without even noticing.

I visited the Cub Room for the first time this evening (Thursday) with a friend and we had a wonderful experience. We had the octopus appetizer and the paella special for dinner. Both were excellent. Our server, Benjamin, was one of the best I've ever encountered. He provided thorough explanation of the menu, offered suggestions, was attentive and accommodating. Overall I would highly recommend the Cub Room for dinner.

Such a nice time here. Very open atmosphere with a good variety of music from jazz to more modern tunes, but its not so loud you can't hear each other. Comfortable seating, wonderful wait staff who knows what's in the dishes and can answer questions. Our water glasses were always full and our dirty dishes were taken off the table almost as soon as we were finished. And the food itself was amazing. We had an appetizer of ahi tuna that was absolutely delicious and the gnudi, I could eat that everyday. They have a lot of vegetarian options that seem really inspired and the presentation is gorgeous and colorful.

Blown away. All I can say is blown away. I finally feel we paid for a meal that was worth every dollar. I do not take pics of food but I wish I had. The entrees were masterpieces on a plate. So good and well made. Yummmmmm.Their meatballs, bolganese, chicken, ravioli...all cooked with perfection. The service was friendly, explained every dish and gave his own recommendations. Top notch service. We were given time to have conversation with friends without the glares and stares to leave. They timed everything perfectly so we could enjoy the atmosphere, food and friends! Oh! Try the smores dessert! Absolute heaven. Four of us split this delightful dessert and it was just enough sweet to satisfy everyone's palate. I was not sure how I was going to like this restaurant, but all I can say is I can't wait to go back. A must try!!!

I had not had a plate in almost a year as the amount of food is certainly a challenge for the average person. I did some research and heard that The Cub Room had an amazing plate that was only served after 10pm at the bar. I waited and waited all night just thinking of what was to come. I wad not disappointed. The combination of hearty base of baked beans, crunchy home fries, and creamy macaroni salad is what supports amazing meal. Topped with thick, juicy cheese burgers, a small amount of bacon bits, cheese curds, red onion, a spicy and earthy meat hot sauce this is already something amazing to taste. The fried duck egg on top just ties everything together into one of the better plates in recent memory. Complimented with a few amazing cocktails this made my night complete. As I move forward out west to Denver it makes me excited to dive deeper into the heart and soul of the food culture there. I will always miss Rochester for things simple as this. A pile of food that creates a symphony of flavors into a perfect bite each time. If you get the chance check out The Cub Room after 10pm for an amazing late night dish. I would make sure to hold off on eating before hand because you will want to clean that plate with their fresh bread for sure.

We arrived early for our reservation and hostess escorted our party of four to our table. Cub Room allows you to bring in your own wine for a corkage fee which is very nice treat. Appetizers... so hard to choose. We picked four and shared all with our table. Dinner was amazing ... fish is so fresh. Presentation of dinner was fantastic ... taste was amazing and our server Jordan was the best. Always great to have a server with a personality who is also very enthusiastic and knowledgeable of the menu. Will visit again and cant wait for that to happen.

Great place! Love the eclectic atmosphere. Great friendly service that went above and beyond. The foods to die for. Steak was cooked to perfection and the best part was the desserts. A little pricey but worth a visit.

We had such a wonderful dining experience at Cub Room. The drinks were delicious, and the bartender was able to make one off the cocktail menu into a mocktail for a non drinker in our group. We had an excellent server who clearly explained everything off the menu and provided wonderful suggestions for our group. Our party of 6 ordered a ton of appetizers - most were delicious but the sizes were pretty small. Our mains were tasty, but again some of the portions were smaller and some were massive. Overall though the experience and vibe were amazing.

Very nice place for dinner. If you go on the weekend make a reservation! We didn't have reservations so we were seated in the bar area. The food is fresh every day. Farm to table style. I asked Phil (our server) for recommendations. We chose both chose the savory 1/2 chicken as seen in the picture. The savory chicken was so moist and tender. The savory flavor was so delicious! The staff are friendly. The food however...is divine! I recommend you go for a meal yourself!!

My friends and I came here for one of their paired brunches a few years back (the Bastard's Brunch) and had an incredible experience. My friends and I talk about how great it was to this day! They had the people from Arrogant Brewing come and talk about the beer served with each course, along with how that beer paired well with each plate we were served. The paired meals are a bit expensive, but they're completely worth it. You and your friends will have a fantastic time, they put in a ton of work to make sure you're getting plenty to eat and drink!

We stopped here for brunch and it was easily the best decision of the week. Walking down the steps we were greeted by soft vintage music and a very cheerful staff. We sidled up to the bar and took a seat, admiring the fantastic liquor selection and the décor which lands somewhere in the middle of industrial and speakeasy. The brunch menu was full of amazing choices and it took us a round of mimosas and Bloody Mary's to decide. The food was nothing short of fantastic. The sausage in the banger dish is easily one of the best I've ever had and a bite from my wife's plate of corned beef and sweet potato hash has already made my decision for what to order next time. Everything was cooked to perfection, the portions were great and the bartender, Anthony was a fantastic host to the whole group. If you haven't given this place a try, you're certainly missing out. The Cub Room immediately became a permanent fixture in our brunch rotation.

Great food, but typical big-city small size portions. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. We ordered several of the specials and liked them all. Our cocktails were a little inconsistent - ie: ordering the same drink twice and tasted different, like the bitters were forgotten in one - but great wine by the glass.

This place is amazing!!! We made reservations easily online, we were quickly greeted by a charming hostess, our table was ready when we got there and we were sat immediately by a nice gentlman with a mullet! Our server, (Kaitlyn?), was AMAZING. She was attentive, personable, knowledgeable and hospitable. She took us through the menu, made suggestions and quickly put in our order! We got the burrata, triangoli and the gnudis! The food was some of, if not the best weve had in rochester. We also got cocktails, the bees knees, an aviation and the house cocktail. The bartender is SO talented. The best drinks weve ever had! We didn't have room for dessert, but were encouraged to stay and relax until we were ready! Such a great experience! Thank you!
