I'm thrilled to give Nick Tahou Hots a five-star review! Our visit to this iconic Rochester establishment was absolutely fantastic. The "garbage plate" that they are renowned for exceeded all expectations - it was an explosion of flavors and textures that left us craving for more. The service was friendly and efficient, adding to the overall wonderful experience. If you're in Rochester, don't miss the chance to indulge in the deliciousness that Nick Tahou Hots has to offer!

Saw this joint on YouTube and I had to try the 'Garbage Plate'. Honestly this place is a hole in the wall and could use some TLC. It was reasonably busy and the folks behind the counter were friendly, including the owner, who I'd recognized from the YouTube video. Ordered the classic cheeseburgers on homefries and macaroni salad smothered in meat sauce. The Garbage Plate wasn't spectacular in terms of any individual components, but is a great example of the 'whole being greater than the sum of its parts'. Ate at the counter and it was very good. I may be slightly inflating the rating here with 5 stars, but the originality of the dish and the legendary city-fixture status of the place earns it special consideration. Was certainly not disappointed and will most definity return next time in Rochester.

It's been over 30 years since I've been here. That last time that I went to Nick's, it was about 230 am with a line out the door onto Main St. You used to get your plate and buy a bottle of ketchup for 50 cents to go with your plate as it was the perfect way to end a night of clubbing. It hasn't lost a step. I tried 2 other places that specialize in 'plates' and knew I had to go to the original. I was NOT disappointed. Staff was great and not just to me. I ate .ine in the spot and watched them interact with other patrons. They were very patient with first timers that had never had plates before and even showed what their food would look like before ordering. The place was clean and there was plenty of parking. Spacious seating and they had your meal ready in a reasonable amount of time. I think the portions may be a bit smaller than I remember, but if that's my only complaint, the quality if the food made up for it. Highly recommend and was a great reminder if home. Don't come to Rochester and not try Nick's.

Heard about this place from a friend from Rochester and I'm glad I visited. What a unique experience! The staff are extremely friendly and patient. The food is tasty and the restaurant is very large inside. The bathrooms are very clean. It was very interesting to hear the history of Rochester and this location. The staff are very proud to work here.

The customer service was very good. I tried the cheeseburger garbage plate and it was ok could use more, more sauce. My bite was dry. 😔 not enough mac salad maybe I should of added beans which I thought came with it according to other pictures but I was wrong. I took my food to go and I enjoyed it the next day with Redhot hot sauce and more ketchup adding mustard to the pile. 🙂 waste nothing. While there I grabbed a bumper sticker for 2.00 😁 I am now traveling back to Texas to enjoy the HEAT haha.. jokingly and grabbing some much needed BBQ. I'm sure I'll be back to try another garbage plate. Toodles for now.

Respects to the inventor of the Garbage Plate which as an out-of-towner, I wanted to try something Rochester, New York and this was it... Enjoyed going to the original location. The garbage plate consisted of picnic style macaroni salad with home fries and topped with a cheeseburger patty, hot link, and a lighter version of Cincinnati chili IMO. I thought it was pretty good being that I never had it before... but then I thought it was really good after eating it with the bread and butter 😆

I enjoyed the iconic garbage plate but I think the whole experience was too hyped up for me, especially going sober when apparently it's a much better experience when drunk. The food was good, the service was good, the people were somewhat friendly, all in all oil stands by my review. I'm going to try it again the next time though before a night of drinking ends.

This is a great and iconic eatery in Rochester. Long history and located in a historic train terminal building on Main. Known for their hots and the garbage plate, it's just a good plate of food. The garbage plate has your choice of meat (Texas hot, white hot, hamburger/cheeseburger, sausage) placed on top of fried diced potatoes, mac salad, and then onions under a scoop of their meat. Throw some ketchup on the potatoes, some Frank's on the rest, dig in and enjoy. A couple slices of French bread come with the plate...just in case you didn't get your fill. These plates aren't "amazing", but they are pretty inexpensive ($11) and hit the spot. They keep me coming back. I'm becoming a white hots fan! Tasty dogs! Give it a try, even if just to give the iconic original garbage plate a try!

The inside of the building looks like the set out of Saw, the food looks like its out of a college dorm room after a frat party. This is a classic American spot that people from all over come to enjoy. There were people in suits and coveralls standing side by side to get a "gahbage plate". The flavor is here and it makes sense why locals have kept this place alive for 80+ years

Old school atmosphere. Nothing fancy, just good food. Even though they are short staffed, like every other place, they were keeping the place as clean as possible and getting orders out as soon as they could. I had the White Hots with everything. One of these best hot dogs ever!

When I heard about “garbage plates” as a dish prior coming here, I was skeptical. We tried their chicken, hamburger and sausage plates, our favorites were chicken and hamburger. Very friendly staff. The portions are quite big , it may not be a bad idea to share a plate if you are not used to eating fried food.

If you've never been, please, please go get a plate. It's one of Rochester's best original foods! We have been coming since the 90's and just recently, family that has moved away, had to come here first! Always great, always fun. Go now!

Great dive eatery but the sign welcoming gun carriers put me I'll at ease and the men's bathroom was equally unsettling. The food and cashier were fantastic though, no complaints at all.

This place was awesome! The food was great, we got to meet the owner, and the food was ridiculously cheap. Great quality food would recommend to anyone. They're struggling with business and they're considering closing down soon so I recommend that people please check this gem out before it's gone. Home of the original Garbage Plate!
