A pleasant, homey atmosphere, love the jazz playing. They put ham in my sandwich instead of what i asked for, which was bacon but it was still delicious. Will definitely be back more often, and would love to get some work done in there.
This is a cafe Rochester should be proud of. Less than 1/2 mile from the Susan B. Anthony House, 1872 was the year of Susan B’s highly publicized act of civil disobedience, her arrest for voting. Women who dared is the theme that is carried throughout the decor and menu. People who lean feminist and progressive will feel in their element. For those who do not, do yourself a favor and get delivery. If I could give this place 6 stars for food I would. The menu is exhaustive with numerous clearly marked vegan and gluten free items in each category as well as options to customize sandwiches with gluten free bread. The person taking my order understood what each distinction meant as well and offered gluten free crackers with my soup - a treat I have NEVER had even at dedicated GF restaurants. I was grew a bit impatient when food took a long time to arrive, but one bite and I quickly realized that the perfection was worth the wait. I suspected that the soup was made to order and not ladled out of a cauldron. I asked about it and it was confirmed. It really makes such a difference. The steak sandwich had slices of 1/8 inch thick filets and was so just juicy enough to moisten the slightly dry gluten free bread. The cheese was lusciously stringy but broke on its own. And the sweetness of the peppers was a welcome surprise, though I could see some not appreciating it.
The best shrimp and grits I've eaten in Rochester hands down not salty seasoned to perfection. Y'all know I'm big on customer service and they didn't disappoint amazing interactions with customers. The music playing in the background is a whole vibe. Definitely will be coming back. Thank you guys for this wonderful experience.
I normally order from here during the school year! Today, I decided to come and sit down since I had a meeting. It was glorious! It was awesome! Coming in, I was greeted with a smile, and the employee behind the counter blessed me with such kind words and such engagement. Thank you so much! I walked in one way, got blessed, and walked out feeling great! I will definitely be back!
I liked the Suzy B breakfast pizza because it was so unique. I'm not sure if it would be everyone's cup of tea. It seemed like a cheese steak breakfast pizza with a little egg. The cheesy sauce was interesting. I'm not 100% sure if it was cheese or ranch/ horseradish. The crust was great. Coffee order was accurate and carefully put together.
Just came in for a half-calf drip small size. There wasn’t any liquid creamer out but a large container of dry creamer. Just like my Mom fixed her own coffee, lol. I stirred the white sugar from a Jays diner-like container. I stirred it good. Excellent cup of fresh drip coffee. 1872 seems to have the works behind the counter. I just keep it simple whenever I 1st go to cafe I’ve never been to.
Had these Shrimp and Grits. Delish. Yall have to try them!!
I tried out this cafe for the first time today and intend on revisiting. The classic breakfast sandwich and the Freddie D veggie egg sandwich on everything bagels were delicious. The slice of pizza and the glazed donut are also good. This place is well lit, has low chairs at tables, high chairs facing the outdoors, an outside section, booths, upholstered furniture, and plenty of electrical outlets. This is a good spot for meeting in a small group or getting work or reading done. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Food is great, service is great. You can get away with a coffee and a nice brunch for maybe $12-$15. My friends hang out here often. Hours are not always as posted, so it’s best to call first.
Delicious food! Fresh ingredients! Got delivery via Uber eats. The cafe made my food much quicker than expected. When it arrived, mac and cheese was still hot. The mac and cheese is very yummy, by the way, would highly recommend. Slices of breakfast pizza the size of my face! Got a crispy chicken salad for lunch, also looks very good. Lettuce is crispy and bright green, tomatoes are not soggy. Very impressive considering COVID food shortages.
A little slow because only two people were working but they make a great breakfast sandwich and really yummy blended drinks and smoothies, all quality ingredients. Great space to meet up with people, relaxed environment.
We discovered this gem while looking for houses in the Rochester area. Ordered vegan breakfast sandwich it was phenomenal! Tofu was savory, veggies fresh. Oat milk latte was perfect. Clean establishment , great atmosphere, we’ll be back!
After going here twice, this is for sure a great spot. The employees are all very kind and extremely helpful. The breakfast sandwiches are absolutely delicious. I could easily make this a regular spot to come for some good food and relaxing vibes.
Great food! Such a peaceful spot in downtown, wonderful atmosphere and helpful service. Will definitely make a return.
The atmosphere here is welcoming, the guy behind the counter was patient and nice, and there was a lot of seating available on a Saturday morning. I had a yummy spinach feta pastry and an iced mocha. I love that there is outside seating!
Breakfast is a little slow but it was totally worth the wait. Susan B steak breakfast sandwich was excellent and very reasonably priced
As a vegan, with non-vegan family, this place is amazing and very reasonably priced. Huge selection for a cafe and everyone left happy and full. Amazing friendly owner who clearly cares about his guests and business.
My first time here and I am impressed. Suzy 7 was the best breakfast sandwich I ate. Very clean and modern furniture. I got there when it opened and I enjoyed my food in peace.
