Same place you have loved for years, Just a new name some great new menu items and a beautiful Remodel.. Great food. Awesome friendly servers, some have been there for years but there are a few new friendly waitress faces. The place looks amazing. Cant believe it was done in just two weeks. It's bright and clean and has that family friendly feel. Proud to be a past "Gitsis customer" Proud to be a "The Avenue Diner" customer.. But most of all Truly honored and blessed to be welcomed by the staff and owners as a new waitress at The Avenue. The girls and guys who work for The Avenue Diner while it was "gitsis" have been helpful, friendly and welcoming. We have only been opened a little over a week and they have already made me feel like part of the family. Billy and Spiro are great guys to work for and don't just sit back and relax while the employees run the show, they are both hard working and amazing. Congratulations guys on the beautiful new place!!!! Stop in and try the wraps, salads and panini's. I may be a little biased now but I wasnt before...I loved the food when it was gitsis but the added items are amazing. I cant wait to say I have tried them all :)
I had the chicken parmesan and it was great I loved it. The best part was the cheese cake at the end! This place had wonderful service also.
We came back with a friend and i tried yhe garbage plate that was awsome!! My hubby and our friend had steak eggs home fries and cheese grits. The service was still excellent also!!
Good food and reasonable reasonable prices. Good service as well.
Good spot for quick lunch. Most staff are friendly and efficient. Good diner style food with a large selection. Always enjoy the gyro and french fries with gravy. Good coffee and they don't miss refills, which is a key trait in good diner service!
Absolutely friendly service and staff! I order to-go meals more than I probably should, but it is hard to do when the food is that delicious and convenient.
If you are looking for just a simple delicious meal from their simple but sufficient menu, then you won't be disappointed.
Their prices are reasonable, for a 12oz steak with home fries and eggs comes out to be $15 and some change.
The parking lot is a little interesting to maneuver in and out of, especially if it's crowded but there is street parking.
Simple comfort food done right!
I visit this place pretty often (at least once a week when not in school). The food is always good, the servers are always friendly. The prices are good as well for the amount of food you get. If you're looking for a larger breakfast, I'd suggest their country fried steak. Although I mainly go here for breakfast, they have a little bit of everything on the menu.
I've been going here for a good 5 yrs and I have to say it's pretty nice. The food isn't always spot on, but definitely hits the spot and those who work there have been there for a while, so if you're a regular, they'll know what you want. The waitresses actually have personality too! Amber's probably my favorite.
Been coming here 6+ years when it was still gitisis. Always very pleasant and attentive staff. Food is always very good at a competitive price. Ignore the other reviews. The owner is always quick to resolve any issues. If you live in the Monroe areas you can't beat the close walking distance and welcoming atmosphere.
I Great food. So good I actually scarffed mine down. Kind to my anxious 18month old. Brought her a singing you because she was getting upset.
However we didn't feel welcomed until the end of the meal and one of the waitress pissed off my daughter's father.
Overall the food was good, typical diner fare, and breakfast is served all day which is nice. The restaurant was clean, the only real knock was an inexperienced waitstaff that had some errors that impacted our experience (received the wrong entree, confusion on the billing, etc). Overall a solid little diner though.
Awesome portions & flavors for great price! Sucks that the hours had to be reduced so it's not available for afterhours grub... this causes the workers to get the "we close soon" attitude even coming an hour before close. Still enjoy the food and will keep coming.
