It's nice to see that the place is still standing. After 6 years of traveling all over the world, I've never been to another restaurant that really water my mouth whenever I reminisce about Maryland. I grew up here, I worked at the nearby medical offices on Rockville Pike. Every lunch, id walk to this restaurant rain, shine, or sleet and order practically the same thing. A half chicken, Yucca, and Plantains. I knew the owner, he knew me as well. I told him my stories of my travels through the Peruvian Amazons, the dry highlands of Arequipa, and the coastal fishing villages in Paracas. It was truly one of my favorite experience. As for the food, it's not a five star restaurant, nor it has won any awards, or gain perfect ratings on Google Maps. It's a restaurant that you go to for lunch. It's hearty, warm, cozy meal that to me, it's perfect. I hope you give them a try and understand their flavors. Thanks for reading.

Peruvian food is amazing!!! I never experience anything like this before. The more I eat, the more I want to eat more! The Peruvian chicken is amazing hot, juicy and never taste dry to me. I must be in heaven!!! The chicken taste sooooo good!!! Personally, it feels like a home cook place to me. You also should try the drink “chicha”! It’s my first time drinking it and it taste not too sweet, but it’s very good. It’s a lot of food, so you can order a 1/2 chicken with rice and black beans share it with someone or take it home for dinner.

Really delicious Peruvian food! I've had my share of many, many, Peruvian restaurants, and I have to include this one in my top list! It's a small place, so don't bring your family of TEN! Prices are a bit on the pricey side, but you get great tasting food, so you'll overlook it!

Our favorite chicken place. Their seasonings and slow roast creates amazing flavors through the whole bird. Add in a salad and fries and we are good to go! Better than Don Pollo and on par with Sardis.

Just discovered this place and it's really good. We ordered to go and when I first saw the price I thought it was a little much, but then when I saw how much food was served it was right on. The place is great. I don't think I could have had enough fried yuca and plantains. There is enough of a menu selection here to keep me coming back.

Chicken, Papa a la huancaina, and Ceviche are really good, but the cashiers are so so RUDE, they don't even look at you. I only noticed she smile to some guys that flirt with her. I've been to this restaurant many times and very frequently and the cashiers always have a bad aptitude. Change your cashiers and you will have more customers!

We love Pollo Real! Keep in mind we typically come on the early side-- around 4 or 5. The chickens at that hour are always fall apart tender and they fry up yucca and plantains to order. I am a big fan of both their verde sauce and their rocoto sauce. Don't forget to pop open the container of yucca after they give it to you so it doesn't steam and lose some of its crispness. When we have come during peak hours, the chickens move through the roasting process at a faster pace and I don't find that they are quite as fall-apart tender. NONETHELESS, we love them. The price is right, the food is delicious, and the staff are friendly when you are a regular.

It was Hot Outside. I was Hungry Inside. I felt the "Salvadorean Urge" for 2 Pupusas Revueltas con Cortido y 1 Horchata Fresco con Hielo. My Gas Tank was Low & I wanted Real Comida so....I cranked up Ol' Besty & headed for El Pollo Real! Not for their Chicken. Not for their Salads BUT for what my Mind would not let me forget....Pupusas & Horchata!! They were not busy when me & my brother pulled up in the front of the Restaurant. A worker was outside on break eating this HUGE GOOD LOOKING SALAD!!! Inside was not The Best concerning Cleanliness. Since I can speak Spanish, I commenced to order my Food from a Very Beautiful Latina who really enjoyed conversing in her Native Tongue (Don't think she would be so adept in the English Department tho.) The wait time was about 6-8 minutes for my 2 Pupusas & Fresh Horchata. The Food was EXCELLENT fown to the last bite!! The Horchata was Good but not The Best I've tasted. They gave me Utensils & Napkins to enjoy everything properly. All in All, it's the Closest Original Pupusas & Horchata near my house so I'll probably be a repeat customer :) Recommended if you're in the White Flint/North Bethesda Area (355 & Nicholson Lane).

Excellent. We had peruvian chicken, pupusas and yuca. All were the best I have had in the area. Don't forget to ask for extra yellow sauce!

If you can time your arrival when the chicken is ready, that's the best. They put the chicken in a 'warmer' otherwise and the meat gets a bit dry, but the skin stays moderately crisp. The brining is spot on and the charcoal smoke/flavor is done well. Chicken size is typical with most of the pollo carbon places. The green sauce is consistently spicy (our el carbonazo isn't always consistent in their spice levles)and good and a good mix with the yellow sauce. I'm not huge on their other chipotle like sauce but helps when I finish the green/yellow mix. They're rather skimpy with their sauce when you order a chicken. The papusas and the accompanying sauce are quite good. Both cheese and the revueltas are my favorite. The pickled cabbage is done well too. I'm not a favorite of the horchata but a LOT of spanish speaking people come here and order that (which is why I decided to give it a shot). Seating is odd but when we're there, most everyone is doing delivery/carryout. The booths are on platforms that I almost always forget that there is a step down and stumble...And they're packed in tight in the side. There are two booths right near the front which are best if you can get those. I'll update this review if I order anything else from the menu.
