Well, it’s finally happened. I have found the most authentic taco in this part of the ATL. Not the usual “same ol’, same ol’ “ that you can find at any other “Mexican” joint, these street tacos were right outta El Paso. The other reviewers are right, it’s not the ambiance that keeps them coming.... although it is authentic border Texas or Arizona...everything was delicious and prepared as I like it.... and I know Mexican food, folks. What really sold me that I was “there” , was the salsa bar. There were a couple of offerings for the uninitiated.... but there were three that went from HOT all the way to face meltingly hot. I tried all three, but settled on the least of the hots-see accompanying picture. It added just the right amount of fire to my street tacos (Carne Asada). I may regret it in a few, but right now I’m smiling, drifting down memory lane. Fresh lime was also available on the bar - try that at whatever your local spot is. I lingered trying to dodge some rain in the area, so I got to watch an assortment of folks come through the door. Every fourth person was a gringo, so with this much Spanish going on, you know you’re in the right spot for the real deal. I still give four stars because of the service and whacky decor, but I will be back to this hole in the wall when I’m back this way... you won’t be sorry!
I have eaten at Mr. Taco multiple times and have never been disappointed. We visited today during lunch. We ordered at the counter and there were multiple places to sit. I ordered the lunch Steak Fajitas and chips. Mr. Taco has so many salsa options. The Steak Fajitas was a generous portion and everything was hot and delicious. Will continue to return.
Where have you been all my life, Mr. Taco???? I had always thought that most Mexican restaurants were pretty much the same. I was wrong. Because Mr. Taco stands on his own. A friend recommended that I order a small tlalpeno soup and carnitas tacos with grilled onions. Oh my. I have overeaten now, and I can't wait to do it again!
This was the Mexican food I have ever had and I love Mexican food and eat it 2-3 times a week. I will definitely become a regular.
Food is amazing. Not impressed with service, not impressed with ambiance.....I couldn't be more impressed with the food. It's delicious. I see why every time I try and come here, there is a line out the door. You might have to get a to go order since there may be no seats but you will really love the food no matter where you enjoy it.
Good. We placed a delivery order. It was good, much better than we've had from sit down resturants around the area. I won't lie and say I know authentic Mexican food but I know what tastes good. Most importantly, the guac was fresh, the avocado's ripe but not over ripe (or worse, rotten, which I've seen), A lot of places don't bother with that and just burr mix it if they're under or just serve crappy ones past their prime. Everything tasted and looked freshly made. The only down was they were busy so the food was a little cool.
No frills, good tacos. Reminds me of the west coast. Pastor and carne asada was excellent. Chicken was a little dry. Definitly worth a trip, I'll be back.
Wow - Great Mexican. I had the tlalpeno soup and a soft taco. I could not believe the fresh taste....definitely not your average taco place. I loaded up on the various salsas from the salsa bar. Again, everything had a really fresh taste. They also have several Mexican drinks that I had never heard of, but I tried a vanilla rice drink that was out of this world. Good pricing, great service, lousy decor.
Wonderful Dinner. Ordered two Burrito Fajitas (one chicken, one steak) for dinner. Excellent quality beef which you don't normally find at most Mexican Taco places. Also had two tacos, both barbacoa. Excellent. The place is very clean, but an average plain interior. Don't let the look of the place fool you. Excellent food.
Authentic Food, Comfortable Feel. We ate at Mr. Taco for the first time last Friday. Food is ordered at the counter and delivered to your table. The place is clean and orderly. Staff was friendly and service was timely. The food was very good. Be aware that their mole is spicier than the usual mole. If you don't like it hot, then order something else.
The menu offers a wide variety of choices that go beyond the typical Tex-Mex items. Quantities were large. Everything had great taste. There is a salsa bar to add you own condiments. They range from mild to very spicy.
Highly recommend and will become a regular.
Don't be fooled by the appearance of this place. The food here is wonderful and authentic. The staff is super friendly. Don't miss the tlalpeno soup. Every Mexican restaurant has a similar soup but the freshness and the addition of chipotle makes the version at Mr Taco sublime. There are many great dishes to sample here and a terrific salsa bar!
Authentic. Nice bite, very authentic.
Muy authentico!!! Awesome tacos and tortas. Great vegitarian dishes also. Not much atmosphere but the food takes your mind off the scenery. If you are lucky enough to live within 5 miles they deliver for a $10 minimum charge. Great food cheap! Need I say more?
Dave ordered some sort of burrito that was quite tasty, but I ordered the Torta Cubana. *slips in drool puddle* It was sooo good! I feel the need to have another one right now! Oh..I guess I should tell you more about the establishment. The restaurant was small and clean and colorful.
I was so very wrong. This quickly became a top 5 Mexican place in my book.
I've been to a few places here in Metro Atlanta, but so far Mr. Taco is the only place that comes pretty close to what I had in Cali.
Decent, inexpensive Mexican food with very friendly people working there.
We stopped by here for dinner last night and enjoyed the food. Two dinners, two drinks plus chips and queso was $32. You order up front and then take your number to a table. It was shocking how quickly the food came out. Our server was very nice as well.
Over the years I have ordered a lot from here. They have outstanding chicken nachos, truly addicting. There other combos are also quite good. I like the authentic flavors and everything they make with their chicken has a really great flavor! I also really enjoy their guacamole.
The atmosphere inside is nothing to write home about but it's a good place to grab a lunch and get out of the office if that's your thing.
It has been over 6 years since I've been here. Upon walking in, I notice the beautiful decor which is a wonderful sign of progress during such a difficult time for small businesses. The people are still genuinely friendly and nice- on purpose. OMG...the food is still top tier in quality and belly-pleasing satisfaction. I can't stay away so long from now on. I must visit at least once a month cause they are a cut above many others. I am so happy to have rediscovered this little gem of a restaurant in Roswell. Ernesto is the best bartender! Ask him to make your margaritas from scratch- ¡muy deliciouso! Take one for when you get home too (an added bonus.)🤩
Well worth a visit or more. The menu has depth, the salsa bar is first-rate, service quick and the place is clean. Boom 💥
I have paid a few visits to Mr. Taco 🌮, so far. The menu requires a minute to take in, even though it is not complex. It is just hard to choose. You can find yourself wanting to order a dozen things. I love their tacos. The place is rightly named. For the area, they own the taco space. Tortillas are soft and fresh. I really like the pastor. The variety of salsas means you have to keep going, so you can sample all the flavor combinations.
The place is always filled with people and an interesting cross section of locals. That is not necessarily a sign that the food is good, but in this case, it is. Lunch, snack, whatever, this spot is well worth trying.
You can go here and feel like you can disappear. The joint is comfortable, inviting in a very soothing way.. Everyone is just eating and talking in the moment.
I knew I was going to like this place when I first walked in. The menu is diverse, the service quick and the food nice. Since it was my inaugural visit, I went for carne asada, carnitas and al pastor tacos 🌮. This is always a good gage of overall flavor quality. I also got the steak burrito plate with the guallijo sauce.
What a pleasant discovery for lunch. Without a doubt, I will be back to try more items. Do yourself the favor and check this spot out.
Very nice folks who work there. Good prices, good portions, clean and fast.
I got the lunch fajitas. They don't't come on a sizzling plate but it didn't matter. The were good. Rice and beans were both good as well.
I also loved the salsa bar, so many options.
I'd come back and try tacos next time.
Mr Taco is good food at a reasonable price. The place looks great after the remodel. You still order at the counter so take some time to look over the menu before you step up to order.
My tacos were well seasoned and very tasty. The rice and beans are a good side dish.
If you want something special, ask about the bottle cokes that come from Mexico.
We will be going back.
