This little restaurant is sweet and cute, with intimate seating and colorful Ethiopian decor. The menu contains many choices of entrees with a variety of meat or vegetable dishes. My family and I had a lovely evening and a satisfying meal.
We all agree that the kik alicha is very good.
this has been my very favorite Ethiopian restaurant for many years. The food is delicious, you won't find better unless you go to the city (by that I mean San Francisco) The owners are very friendly, they always remember me, and treat me very well. SO worth going.
This place was awesome. A friend took me here as I have only ever had Ethiopian one other time so he said I needed to try it again. This place has made me a fan.
The owners are awesome it is a great little family run place. Grab a friend and GO

This place is always amazing! Such a great experience overtime and the food is always amazing!
My favorite Ethiopian restaurant in town. LOVE their all you can eat lunch special. Thank you for making such delicious vegan food! ! ! Service is fast and extremely friendly. Love the welcoming family atmosphere and great Ethiopian music
Amazing food!! Tasted very homestyle and not commercial/restaurant-like. The food is so awesome, you forgive their ugly restroom.
This food is always delicious. Never had something bad there.
A nice family ran restaurant with excellent authentic Ethiopian food.
My first experience eating Ethiopian cuisine was for a Mother's Day lunch with the family. It's a casual dining environment where the service was great and the food was incredibly well seasoned and super tasty. We will be back for more.
Seriously, I don't know what your doing right now, but go down there and get some Kay Wot and stop playing!
Absolutely fantastic food and service :)
Love love love this place. My friends took me here after a recommendation from their boss. The decor was beautiful and they had wonderful artwork throughout. The food was just as amazing. We ordered two combos and two main dishes, although they were able to bring it out as two trays (veggie and meat). The range and spectrum of flavor, spices and heat (spiciness) was fantastic. We finished with their tea which hit the spot and allowed us to let all the delicious food settle. Very affordable per person and the staff provided wonderful service. Highly recommend!
Absolutely delicious food, great service, fantastic price. Some of the best Ethiopian food I've ever had. The mushroom tibs were my favorite.
Cute little ethnic restaurant. Ample parking in a fairly busy commercial complex. The restaurant was busy but had several empty tables. Service was fairly quick. No fancy cutlery or table arrangements, rustic and simple set-up. Be prepared to eating with your hands, no cutlery was offered and we didn’t ask. Injera bread was soft and spongy. The chicken spicy stir-fry with Ethiopian chilli paste was awesome. Enjoyed both the spicy and yellow lentils. The veg samosa was mediocre but crisp and fresh. Enjoyed a leisurely laid back Friday dinner!
I picked up a sampler through To Good to Go. It was delicious! The meat was savory and tender and the accompaniment of the soft and springy Injera bread pairs incredibly well with it. The two ladies working were both very courteous and kind. Trust me if you like spicy food you’ll love this! They definitely go full speed with the spice!
Excellent food, excellent coffee, excellent beer, super friendly staff. If you like flavorful stuff, you will be happy you came. We got the lamb tibs plate with collards and spicy lentils and the meat sampler, everything was tasty. Each dish said it fed 1, but the portions are ample and we took a bunch home (amazing the next day too). The atmosphere is comfy, music isn't too loud, easy to have a private conversation. We will definitely come back and I've already recommended this place to friends
We got the sampler, which had a combination of meat and vegetable dishes. Overall it was pretty good.
Exceptional Ethiopian cuisine served in an upbeat atmosphere by a friendly, hospitable family (a little niece had just woken up from her afternoon nap near the time we were departing!) Their combination of fragrant spices and flavors is unique in comparison with other food of this type I've eaten over the years. Injera bread is promptly brought to the table, and behind through counter is an ample selection of East African herbs, seasonings and other condiments to take away to our own kitchens, though duplicating any of this restaurant's excellent recipes is futile ---- all the more reason to come again often!
I am a big fan of Ethiopian food and this place is the best in Sac and better than many places I have been to in the Bay Area. This is a family run restaurant and the owners are awesome. I visit this place once every couple of months and the food quality is consistent and service is great as well. Must visit!
The food is so delicious. Love the decorations, it is beautiful. Their sevice is efficient. I recommend this restaurant for anyone who likes to eat Ethiopian food.
This place has a new owner. She is very friendly and pleasant. I went by to take my cousin who came to visit from Reno. I was impressed. I had the vegetarian combo, and I loved it. I'm definitely going back.

One of the highlights at Abyssinia is their lunch buffet, which offers incredible value for money. The assortment of dishes presented on the buffet line is truly impressive, and you'll find yourself spoilt for choice. But be warned: the addictive taste of their injera bread may leave you craving more. It's the perfect companion to the flavorful stews and dishes served at Abyssinia.

In conclusion, Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant is a true culinary gem in Sacramento. With its authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and welcoming ambiance, it's a place that will leave a lasting impression. If I could, I would eat here every day! Whether you're seeking a lunch buffet or a delightful dinner, Abyssinia is a must-visit for all lovers of Ethiopian cuisine.
I like Abyssinia! It isn't fine dining, it's a mom and pop shop. Mom mostly runs it. She is friendly and welcoming.
The food is delicious. If you enjoy Ethiopian cuisine, this is the filling, satisfying family version.
Ethiopian dishes run from mild and flavorful to quite spicey and layered. Abyssinia offers a grand sampler plate for two that will help the uninitiated experience the full spectrum.
If you're into family-run authentic cuisine, this restaurant should be on your list to try.
Been to this restaurant twice to try ethiopian dish. Unfortunately my taste buds do not enjoy ethiopian food, so I dont see myself coming here again. Their food tastes different. But dont get me wrong, im not saying the restaurant is bad. The service was good and the food seemed of decent quality. My wife and I ordered the grand sampler and it was a huge portion and was very filling. I was given a sample of their honey wine which tasted good. For anyone willing to try something different, this place would be worth it.
We love going to the family-owned and operated Abyssinia Ethiopian restaurant for their delicious vegetarian combo and seasoned beets, pictured here. Their menu has a generous variety of meat (beef, chicken, lamb, fish) and vegetarian/vegan dishes, each meal comes with tasty injera bread they make themselves, and there are Ethiopian beverages (including beer and honey wine) available as well. It’s a consistently clean, homey and lowkey local spot we have enjoyed for several years now and hope to visit regularly for many more to come!
Was craving Ethiopian food and luckily we found this place nearby by searching. We were able to dine indoors and they were so friendly. We ordered the grand sampler which said it serves 2, but we hardly could finish half of it between the 2 of us! The food was great, it was a nice mix of stewed meats with lentils and other vegetables, served on top and with a side on injera. Highly recommend this place!
