This is a hard restaurant not to love if you are a person that loves real food. There isn't a lot to distract, unless great food distracts you from the happenings out here in the rest of the crazy world, in which case the whole place is a distraction. Get some red meat, some vegetables and some seafood. Always get the Yaki- Onigiri. At the end of a recent visit I kinda looked out of the window and felt a little sad for all the people out there eating their Buffalo chicken tacos and fried cheesecake sandwiches. It may be a crazy world but it makes a lot more sense at a table at Binchoyaki.

Been meaning to try this place after reading about it in the Bee. Great food! Quantities are small, by design I think, so you can try a few things. If there for lunch, recommend the Binchiyaki Set (good mix) but also get one order of the NY strip loin. Salad was really unique and very good. And loved the potato salad. Service was awesome. Only negatives were that it's a bit small and very busy, but I'm glad to see them packed!

The best Honmaguro sashimi with fresh wasabi! Wonderful assortment of traditional and exquisite dishes. Exceptional quality in the fish, beef and vegetables. The duck was good too! I appreciated the suggestions from the wait staff. So helpful. We'll be back often.

I Love to eat. If I HAD to pick one cuisine that "reigns supreme"... Japanese. This is my 2nd visit.... EVEN more amazing, if that's possible! You can order each menu item with a set... Oh my goodness the crushed black sesame dressing on the salad, braised turnip, and this visit these beets....I. Just. Can't. They have an open flame grill... Pork cheeks..... This is some traditional made non-traditional! It's ABSOLUTELY one of the best places I've ever eaten. Throwin' DOWN. Thankfully my mom's will take me and indulge with me. It was a good day.

Kudos to this joint for putting out one of the most proper Izakaya experiences I've ever had outside of Japan. Working hard at breaking the more familiar expectations of teppanyaki or sushi service, this is the Japanese Pub designed impress you from the getgo. Belly up to the bar, get lots of beer, and be sure to chat up everyone working their hibachi for some killer skewers and amazing grilled fish. Props to Brooke for her superior skill set handling the bincho coals and her off menu recommendations!

The owner is so great and the food entrees were rare (to me) that I couldn't help but order multiple bites to try a large sample of the menu. I sat at the bar and watched employees grill everyone's menu item and got to see what other entrees they had that convinced me to want to come back and order what someone else was having. The dessert was also delicious but as always, besides great food and good company, what brings people back is that great service. If you're looking for some delicious Japanese entrees/beverages this is the place. I'll definitely be back!

Great new dining experience , wonderful grilled small plates. Rose loved the grilled oyster and we both enjoyed tempura, krispy rice with spicy tuna on top. And a creme caramel in a cute little cup with a lid that was amazing. Rose and I liked it a lot.

My Japanese wife and I greatly enjoyed our experience here. My wife gave her official Japanese stamp of authenticity, and approval. I also enjoyed the small plates of tasty grilled food. Our experience with the wait staff was exceptional.

What looks simple, is so flavorful. Ramen, pickles, and tofu like mom used to make. And grilled meat like dad used to make. I could eat this every day!

Binchoyaki meaning (charcoal grill) is a modern Japanese style focused on small plates. They have a skewer menu, main dish & special menu to choose from. All which is very delish! We loved all the items we ordered. A reservation is a must as there isn't a lot of tables. But there is outdoor dining. We went when the weather was blazing hot 🔥 🥵 and they did not provide air-conditioning. Therefore, it was kinda unbearable to enjoy dinner.

Binchoyaki - this was a pleasant surprise. We sampled so many combinations of meats! It was really delicious. I will say my favorites were the Belly and pork cheeks. Side note the mochi bacon was a cheesy salty combo. It was interesting on the palate Our party shared a TanTan Tonyu Udon. The noodle were adente and the meat want sweet/spicy. The sauce brings is all together for a full experience. I recommend it and I'm not a fan cold noodles. This place does have an automatic gratuity of 20% on your order. Just a fair warning. Our hostess and server did not tell us until the check was delivered. Overall, it was a great experience Get the crispy rice too!!!!!

Enjoyed trying a wide variety of dishes including the Loco Moco meatloaf special (which 4 of us shared, it’s very filling!) and the sweet potatoes were another yummy choice. Suggest making reservations, we didn’t have one and only had to wait about half an hour for a table which wasn’t bad since it was a Friday evening. Atmosphere is casual, service is friendly and helpful. The food is grilled to order so can be a little slow coming to the table, I suggest dining here when you’re not in a rush. Your check can get kinda steep if you don’t keep an eye on what you’re ordering or if you go too hungry. We made both mistakes and a casual Friday night dinner became a of fine dining experience. The tip was automatically added to our check which surprised us a little because we were a party of 3. Not sure if that’s standard practice or not. Will definitely be returning!

A fantastic find at the edge of Downtown Sacramento. A seriously fabulous Japanese bar food restaurant serving a tremendous variety of great dishes. The only true Japanese curry I have had in California. A surprising selection of Japanese craft beers. I have been here a few times over the years and having just been for a lunch - it is still a wonderful treat, filled with surprises!!! Tried uploading photograph but continued receiving error messages.

First time at Binchoyaki. I made a reservation a few days in advance. When my party arrived, we were greeted by the host and seated within a few minutes. Our waitress provided great recommendations and was awesome overall. The only issue with the service was that it took a while before we were able to place our first order after being seated. Other than that, food and drinks came quickly, and we had a great meal. Definitely try the wagyu tsukine with an onsen egg, bacon wrapped enoki mushrooms, and chili dumplings. I'm still thinking about those dishes 🤤

A couple chefs I respect recommended this spot for my birthday dinner and wow. This place did not disappoint! Everything was so full of flavor and the saki flight was fun! It was an amazing and romantic night on the cool patio, gazing into the mischievous green eyes of my partner of over 15 years. I love you so much John. Probably biased but best dinner ever 😍

Just fantastic on every level. I didn't eat a single thing I didn't enjoy, but some items are better than others. But that's really comparing great food with great food. Pro tip, listen to your server and help them help you.

Pros: Food was tasty Namazake was delicious The staff (especially our waitress) was very friendly and the service was good Cons: Skewer sizes are small and somewhat expensive per skewer. Would recommend coming here for the sake and snacks not for a full meal Took a long time to get food. It is a small restaurant and it was pretty full but I still have to mention it. Kinda sucks you pretty much need a reservation but that's the price of success Overall: I'd definitely come back. Izakayas with the charcoal grills and skewers are rare in Sacramento. Also their sake/namazake selection was neat. Just make sure you set aside a couple hours for the experience. A great place to hang out, drink some awesome sake, and have a good time with your friends.

My wife loves izakaya, which is Japanese cuisine with wide variety of food that goes well with drink, of course it's still good even you don't drink. We found binchoyaki on Yelp to celebrate my wife's birthday. The place did not disappoint. The waitress are friendly, service is great, and most importantly the food is good. We ordered all kinds of food, variety of yakitori or skewers, salad, origini, and ramen. We enjoyed every dishes. I went with beer to go with the food. They have a large selection of drinks, beer, saki, etc. for you to choose. Due to COVID-19, they offer outdoor seating at the patio only and you must make reservation ahead of time. They were able to seat is even we arrived ten minutes early. The service was prompt and the waitress was really friendly and helpful. All in all a very pleasant dining experience. We'll come back for more if we're in the sacrament area again. Highly recommended.
