Very good and authentic Japanese sukiyaki. They also have great sushi appetizers to complement the food. We visited on a rainy day so the nabeyaki udon hit the spot. It was quite busy wen we visited so the good came out a bit late (30 minutes). But not a bad place if you want the time to wait...
Laid back little place with great food and friendly, attentive service. Had the chicken sukiyaki dinner combo and a tekka roll. Everything was delicious and I left absolutely stuffed.
A restaurant that offers Zaru Soba and a good variation of nigiri here in Sacramento is hard to find. When my husband found this restaurant that offered both in Marconi Avenue, we hurriedly called to order take-out. However, nobody was answering the phone, so we decided to go straight to the place and just order from there. To our surprise, there was a line. We didn't know it was that famous. We ended up dining in because we saw the old ladies who were in the kitchen, and they looked like legit Japanese cook.
It took us 30 mins to be seated, but the service from then on was actually quick. We ordered 3 types on nigiris (Cold Smoked Salmon,Uni, and Amaebi), Zaru Soba with tempura, salmon sashimi, and Krazy Mary roll.
The nigiris were fresh, and the sushi rice was authentic. It has the right amount of sweetness and sourness.
The Zaru Soba was very refreshing, and the tempura that goes with it is by far the best tempura we had. The batter was so light and crisp. (We really think the one who does the tempura were the old ladies in the kitchen, lol)
We will definitely go back for this!
The salmon sashimi is fresh. It would be nicer if it comes with authentic wasabi roots.
Our least favorite was the Krazy Mary Roll. It had too much mayo, which overpowered the rest of the ingredients. Also, it wasn't as garlicky as I prefer it to be.
Overall, I rate it as 4. We really liked it, but I can't say that it is the best Japanese restaurant we have been to here in the US as my benchmark is quite high. Still, we will go back for more soba and tempura!
We made reservations, highly recommended. Our neighbor suggested
Nagato Sukiyaki, great idea. We ordered the whole menu it seemed like. Tempura π€, sushi π£ rolls, salmon skin hands rolls, Hamachi Cama , and Katsu Curry π π.
The service was great. Nice and clean .
There is a sushi π£ Bar too. Parking is ample.

Pretty good meal and very attentive server. The reason I remove 1star is because of the bill. I attached their bill where they asked for 40,30,20% as a tip. Itβs even post tax not pre tax. Usually restaurants put tip amount 25,20,18% pre tax. Food was okay and the service was good. However, the bill made us feel pressure.
Nagato is a hidden gem. The food is so flavorful and the staff so friendly. I enjoy the soup, salad, rolls, tempura, the entrees (chicken teriyaki, yum!) Everything is delicious and not heavy.
Visited several times. Always a great sushi place to go to. Prices are not too shabby as well. I always order a side of the rock n roll π
Amazing tempura and authentic Japanese cuisine. This family owned restaurant has been in business since the 70's and consistently delivered quality food and service.
Stopped here for an early dinner on Saturday and the place was hopping. Highly recommend a reservation as it isn't a large space, but plenty of parking. We were seated after a short wait.
We ordered a variety of food to try between the three of us, Combo "C" - which had beef & chicken teriyaki, sushi, sashimi, and tempura, gyoza, tempura appetizer, and a sashimi platter. The clear soup was so good that we ordered another bowl.
Teriyaki was a lighter sauce, which I prefer, and both the beef and chicken were delicious. Gyoza was very good and sushi / sashimi were also fresh and good. They should highlight the tempura more because it is WORLD class. Some of the best I've had anywhere - light and crisp batter, perfectly cooked shrimp and vegetables, and amazing flavor.
Highly recommended and on my list of "must return" places when I'm in the area.
We love Nagato's! They are always so good and authentic. I recommend everything on the menu. We've never had anything here that wasn't delicious π
Nagato is very good Japanese American food. There Sushi rolls are on point. The Miso soup is dope.Classy but not overstated. This place would be a good spot for a first date. They have a lot of options to choose from.Everything is prepared with care in a casual quite environment.Service is good and owner Don even took the time to chat with me.
This is has been our favorite Japanese restaurant in Sacramento for many years. Good food at a reasonable price. Nagato is family owned and operated and it shows in the quality of the food they serve.

Excellent experience, great food and service
Amazing food, service and experience. This is my family's go to sushi restaurant, even though we live over an hour long drive away!
Tempura is the best we've had since Fuji closed in downtown Sac.

Had the Hokkaido Roll and Plum Wine it was fantastic. Pleasantly surprised on just how good and fresh it was! Very impressed .
I like my vegetable sukiyaki. I would come back again to try other items on the menu.
A Sacramento fixture that never disappoints. A wide ranging menu from traditional Japanese comfort food to more contemporary American-style sushi. Always a favorite of ours for special occasions. Service is always attentive and reflects the family-owned nature of Nagato.
