Very good place good burger it will make your belly real full
Great Salad. I stayed in the hotel that shares a parking lot with this place for a few days and avoided this restaurant until the last night. Mostly because it looks like a Steak & Shake, and there's no reason to eat that garbage. However, needing a quick meal to get back to the room and work I decided to give it a shot. This is one of the tastiest Cobb Salads I've had. The chicken was still warm by the time I walked back and got to my room. Plenty of cheese, bacon and avacado. No skimping here.
Can't wait to go back again!. Nice atmosphere...clean, oldies playing in the background, individual jukeboxes on each table, vintage memorabilia and a VERY friendly staff....and and and they even had baseball playing on the tv, for those interested.
Since it was our first time, we had no idea what to order because honestly...everything on the menu looked good. Our waiter, Saul, couldn't have been nicer. He came over a few times to see if we were ready to order...as we looked up with that 'cannot decide' look in our eyes, he smiled and gave us as much time as we needed. The last time, I asked what he recommended.
Here's what we ordered:
chicken strips = A+
ranch = A++ (I approve)
petite dinner salad = A+
gourmet melfries = A+

scrambled eggs = A+
french toast = A+
bacon = C
(I am SUPER picky about my bacon, my apologies)
Bottom line is I was more than pleasantly surprised with this hidden gem.
Overall: A+
Their chocolate milkshake was great!
Husband had a club sandwich with potato salad. He said it was very good.

I'm always a fan of the atmosphere when I enter Mel's. The customer service was also great, even though my family arrived when it was packed we had our orders taken and had our food within 10 minutes. The food was also great, hot and well seasoned, my daughter enjoyed the cardboard car a little more than her food however. Overall I still continue to enjoy the service and work that Mel's performs
Old school American diner style eatery offering a selection of all day breakfast and classic burgers and sandwiches. I like the vintage old time interior decoration including the mini jukebox at some of the booths. The food was decent and the menu offered a few choices but nothing impressive. The service was excellent (it was early Saturday morning and there were nearly any dine-in customers). Plenty of free parking in the lot outside. One complaint i had was my toasts were too soft for my liking. Would prefer them to be more crispy. Other than this, no other complaints.
Ample parking, Quick service, friendly staff, decent size portions and plenty of choice. The food was fresh including chicken tenders.
They let us stay a long time after eating. I gave only 4 stars on atmosphere because the cigarette smoke from the employee on break outside was coming into the restaurant. I'm allergic to tobacco. Second hand smoke causes cancer. There is a visible gap to the outside between the window and wall where a cold draft was coming in and bringing the smoke inside with the door closed. I tried to let let them know and they said it was the air conditioning. LOL The Food and service was good I had the California Benedict.
Need a tasty, hearty, sugar meal? Need to find a place late at night? Mel’s is the go to! Recently visited this location on Howe near Arden, and had a great meal with great service. I have no complaints, it was as good as any other well run location. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good breakfast bite, no matter the time of the day!
Delicious food! Cooked just right. I had a patty melt, I substituted the traditional swiss cheese for the cheddar on the menu. I had a side salad with blue cheese, which was very crispy and good. My husband had a blue cheese burger. It was nice and thick and juicy! It was very hot out and the Fuze Raspberry Tea was very thirst quenching. Highly recommend going here!

We were a group of 9, celebrating a birthday! They were very nice when we told them that we were celebrating a birthday! The waitress started us singing "Happy birthday to Tammy". The whole restaurant joined in!!
Went to Mel's for lunch on a Sunday at noon. Did not have to wait for a table. Had a San Francisco burger with sweet potato fries and a chocolate milkshake. The sweet potato fries were abundant. The chocolate milkshake was delicious! The San Francisco burger comes with Bacon and avocado. Delicious!!
Good service here. Nice people working here and the food came out quick. Invited some friends here and I got myself a tuna melt sandwich with coleslaw to keep things a little healthier (healthier than French fries at least). I'm a big fan of all the decor in this place, really gives it an old school vibe. Unfortunately, it looks like the jukeboxes are not working at the moment as it appears that someone might have had a minor collision with the front entrance and their car, and it messed up the system or something. Anyway, expect to spend about $20 per person here.
Excellent Service…. Saturday night 9:30 pm We were seated instantly. . Food was served quickly and Chef took his time to make the tomato 🍅 really cute
Omg the food AND Service was phenomenal, Our waiter was super friendly, funny and knew the menu... he interacted with us and made us feel we were in our home town
Unfortunately I forget his name but he was the best part of our visit to Mels ( beside the amazing food) lol ( he took the photo of us also)
