Great dive bar. Standard amount of drinks on tap you'd expect. The place was clean, the bathrooms do smell horrible with that sorta old dive bar smell, but the smell is contained to them. The outdoor space out back was larger then we expected. Folks do smoke out back, so do what you will with that information. The staff were all very kind, rotating food trucks as well!

Love this neighborhood bar! New owner and wonderful renovations. This place has a "Cheers" type atmosphere and has become my go to comfort hangout. The Trap is a wine and beer bar and I'm liking that more and more! They have added so many fun nightly events including trivia, karaoke and wine and paint night. Everyone wins here, as they support small businesses and entrepreneurs. The food trucks and bbq dinners are on point! Two lovely patios with ambient lighting and just an all around great vibe. They also have pool tables AND REAL dartboards I love the staff too! Everyone is so friendly and this place really feels like my second home🩷 so fun and cozy with a great crowd.

Locals know, it's a local fave. They take card now too. And now they have beers on tap and more wine options! The outdoor areas are expanded and have plenty of picnic table seating and darts 🎯 We love the trap!

Hands Down the best bar, and people in Sacramento. I've been to every single bar and club in Sacramento for 35 years, and the Trap beats them all. Always have a good time here, and no drama.

This old dive has been a fixture on Riverside for over 50 years and feels homey and intimate. They serve only beer and wine which means less overly marinated patrons and thus, few if any fights and lots of friendly banter all around. They have 2 outdoor areas, one paved patio and one bigger and mostly shaded "yard" where dogs with owners are usually quite welcome and, at the same time is not a dog toilet, as one might expect. I am sad that they removed the horseshoe pits from out there. They were the side yard's raison d'etre but in today's world of people who love to complain, I suppose they found it best to give in. Perhaps the fools who built an elementary school virtually AROUND this ancient watering hole/beloved neighborhood fixture found the clanking on occasional afternoons to be too much for their very sedate and quiet student body. They also removed a 7 or 8 hundred year old fig tree instead of letting their students and staff appreciate it's rare and formidable beauty and historic significance. But. I digress. The Trap has been the preferred spot for winding up or down in the Greenhaven Pocket - so much that a locally residing contingent of Sacramento Kings BB players were there celebrating on the down-low, away from crowds and joyous, rowdy fans the night they finally prevailed over LA in the playoffs after a long drawn out battle with their biggest rivals. Turns out they were as interested in the Trap Ghost's first hand witnesses' stories as any game of pool, dice or darts. Anyway, the new owners have brought in bean bag toss to replace the noisy ol' horseshoes but unfortunately, they have also replaced the awesome sound system with a very noticably lesser version though the digital techie juke box remains. The floor under the 2 old pool tables seems to have been reinforced though it still slants toward a back corner and because of limitations due to code laws that will void all the grandfathered in exceptions and require a full reconing to bring it all up to code completely if and significant upgrades are done. I think that this funky old place where my parents often partied 'till well after 2 AM (behind a locked front door of course) will continue to attract locals with it's quirky charm and robust history for years to come. Unless, of course , the school and it's patrons forget that The Trap was there waaay waaay before they chose to put their classrooms directly adjacent to robust and locally very popular neighborhood BAR! Around these parts, we sincerely hope that The Trap is not squeezed out by "progress" and remains a symbol of our connection to the almost adjacent Sacramento River and all the folks who have been lucky enough to enjoy living down this way.

Apparently one of the oldest bars in Sacramento, a real gem of a place, off the beaten track. You won't get fancy overpriced cocktails here, just a good selection of beers and wine but what more could you want? Two pool tables and two lovely outdoor areas with fairy lights strung across the trees. A game of "Cornhole"is great craic as we say in Ireland. Restroom very clean. Really loved our visit here!

1st time there, bartender very nice, historical old bar from 1860. Had a great time playing pool 🎱, watching football and listening to music. Deeply saddened to hear that it's up for SALE. I hope someone special buys it and keeps it going. 🍷🍻🍺.

Other pictures on google are a good representation of exactly what it is. You shouldn't come here looking for something fancy and then leave a negative review. Beer, wine, and cash only. There is a taco truck set up outside.

I will miss my friends and bar family here. Great service excellent tenders. There's pool tables, horse shoes, corn hole, dice, domino's, hell even chicken bingo sometimes. For such a small old waterhole it is the place to be. Thanks trappeez it was a blast.
