They deserve more than 5 stars!
My kids found this treasure last year. Brought me back as we are heading home to Arkansas. Mimi is a treasure to The Hill community with her friendliness. The place got busy while we were there and she just kept giving us great customer service as Mim took over like a busy little bee with a big smile on her face! This place is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate! I have never tasted such bakery goodness!
They are the epitome of “local small family business.” Mimi gave a quick rundown of the history which is generations of bakers!
DO NOT MISS THIS TREAT WHILE IN ST.LOUIS!
Mimi is an absolute delight and has the best baked goods I've ever tasted! Everything she suggested and I picked was amazing. I'm ashamed to say I are all 4 of the years myself! Go there now!
Update August 2023:
Stopped in for some goodies today and some pleasantries with Mimi. It's always nice to see her and chat for a little bit on what's been going on in our lives. She's such a friendly and kind soul working her buns off every day at her families Bakery.
Please get out and visit the bakery to support a local woman's business or order cakes, muffins, cookies, cobblers, coffee cakes, and so much more.
Today, she had a fresh peace coffee cake that looked so yummy. I had to get one. My favorite are her custard puffs, and my little brother likes the cheesecake & German chocolate. Since little brother had knee replacement, I thought he would enjoy some goodies from Missouri Bakery too. If you have never visited this bakery on the Hill, you're missing out big time. Big Shout Out to the staff and Mimi for always being so friendly and having tons of goodies to choose from every time I visit. Cobblers ate on Fridays, so don't miss out! Now that I know that, gotta make sure I get one ordered.
Support our local bakeries so we can continue to enjoy their homemade desserts!
Always a must stop for sweets after running around all day shopping.
Mimi and staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable on all goodies.
Try a little of everything. That way, you find your favorites to come back for every time.
Don't forget you can place orders and visit their website for more information.
Went back yesterday, and lordy they had peach cobbler, chocolate raspberry muffins, sugar cookies w/icing, and my favorite custard puffs.
You can order items in case you don't want to chance not getting these bakery goods.
Big shout out to Mimi and staff!
My daughter and I visited on our way through St. Louis after reading the great reviews. The staff and the other customers in the bakery were so welcoming and helpful! There are no prices on items but they have a price list so you can ask before you order. Our favorites were the ricotta cannoli, the gooey butter cake, and the custard puffs. So yummy!
My boys and I have a tradition of going the last open morning before Christmas since they could walk. They are teenagers now and still get excited about the trip . I have sampled pretty much everything in the place and love all of it. It’s a must go at least a couple times a year
Stopped by to get the famous Gooey Butter Cake and the service was great. We were a little disappointed that there were no options to purchase small servings and we had to buy an entire cake. Prices were reasonable.
Love this old school St. Louis Hills icon. Try the Blackberry or Peach cobbler.
Just the cutest little family bakery ever. Everyone was super helpful and fast. Definitely worth a stop if you're in town! The gooey butter cake was my favorite. Great part of town, too. Lots of Italian restaurants.
We went for the gooey butter cake, we left with much more - chocolate drops (order as many as you can afford, these were amazing), sfogliatelle (just wow), and more that I don’t remember the names of. Bottom line, you cannot go wrong. The person who helped us was super patient, helpful and friendly. My husband said he’d like to move to The Hill neighborhood just to be able to visit the bakery regularly.
Got a tip that this place had the best Gooey Butter Cake in St. Louis so checked it out. Just so many options with other desserts and pastries. We ended up getting 2 full sheets of Gooey Butter Cake. This tasted kinda lemony, not sure if that is the usual style or if there actually is Lemon Gooey Butter Cakes and if we got the wrong one. It was still good but 2nd in STL. Our favorite is Russell's Cake on Macklind. Missouri Baking Company does beat MacArthurs, Park Avenue Coffee, Schnucks though. We also ordered the Amaretto Cheesecake slice, 2 Custard Filled Beignets with Chocolate on top, Lemon Pound Cake and Chocolate Drops. Everything was solid but I would 1000% get more Chocolate Drops again, that was perfectly made.
Omg this bakery is amazing. A must for any STL trip!
It's never a completed trip to St Louis with stopping into this Bakery and getting sweet pastries and cannolis.
It still has the yesteryear feel and look.
I LOVE this place. A best part of The Hill.
Their Ravioli and Butterball cookies are soooo good. Got some from a potluck at a friend’s place and decided to come here to get more. The tiramisu and lemon bar are delicious as well. Keep in mind that the store is cash only so better bring enough cash cause you’ll be buying a lot. Debit card fast cash back is available with extra charge of $1.5.
This place has a lot of the classics, and a couple of their own takes on the classics. Most of which are authentic and very good. Cookies are a local Christmas tradition. Definitely worth a look if you are in the area. Mind the closing business hours. Staff is a pleasure to deal with and are knowledgeable about what they are selling. Try the pound cake cookies with chocolate icing and the almond dough cookies.
Our family wanted to visit this bakery after seeing their wonderful reviews! We were not disappointed! The staff were so helpful and friendly! The selection was unbelievable! We bought a variety of the pastries! The Marshmallow rolls and cannolis were amazing! Our favorite was the cream puffs!
Missouri Baking Co never disappoints! Tip: Try to go on a Friday when they have their pies and be sure to grab a strawberry stollen along with the cookies!
