the best donut place for people who don't get up early! and been loving it since i was a kid. excellent lemon, custard, and jellies! and caramel long johns- yum.
This doughnut shop has been open ever since I was a little girl and to date they have the best doughnuts in all of Saint Louis.
Went there this morning at about 915 and the place was fairly busy. Service was fast and efficient. Donuts were phenomenal. I was taking them to my daughter in Children's hospital and she was certainly pleased. Shared some with the various staff and they were just as impressed as we were! Definitely will be returning in the future.
Little tire shaped pieces of heaven...that’s all that needs to be said about this place!

Great donuts, but the Apple Fritters are awesome! We would weigh 500 lbs if we didn't make a house rule that we must walk there and they are worth walking for. I have even eaten mine a day or two later and they are still delicious. My extended family has taken dozens back home (13 hours away) to freeze them and eat slowly. You will not be disappointed trying any of their donuts.

Very busy joint, be ready to know what you want! I didn't! Felt rushed but not by the staff by the line of people behind me. This place is busy for a reason! Got outside with my fresh donuts for the family, I dropped my whole box on the ground, had to go back inside & order again. The sweet lady asked did you get sent back in, I said no I dropped my donuts with a smile on my face, I ordered again & she told me not to pay! Made my day. 10 Stars for Donut Drive-In

Best donuts I have had in 11 years since leaving PA. I am addicted. LOL
I think the donuts here have a special aura about them because the Donut Drive-In is a Route 66 icon. I recommend any donut with vanilla icing.
These are the best donuts in the country. Period. End of discussion. Whatever kind of donut is your favorite, they make it better than anyone else. My personal favorite is the apple fritter, but everything is perfection.

The only thing that bothered me, was that they were closed yesterday and today. The sign read, "closed, be open tomorrow at 5 am". So I went out of my way again to get donuts for the guys at work. Closed? Why? And why not post a notification so we can have a heads up? Just really ruined my morning, but the donuts are the best in the city! Hope you re-open soon.

Haven't been there for years but stopped on a recent Saturday and all was as good as ever. Stood in line outside for 20 minutes but worth the wait. Fresh, tasty donuts, loved the old-time jelly filled and the monstrous cinnamon. In an overpriced world, the stop was a treat for great value, taste and friendly staff. Will not wait Yeats to return. This is the best donut shop in town, hands down. I've been getting donuts here since I moved to the area 12 years ago. They're always fresh and delicious, they never disappoint. The staff is always friendly. My favorites are the glazed chocolate cake donuts, the apple fritters, and the ones with carmel and nuts on top. You can't go wrong with any of them, really. They're all delicious. I just wish I wasn't on a weight loss journey and eating better so I could enjoy them more than once a month!
Some of the best donuts in St. Louis. And their coffee is great too! It's carryout and outdoor seating only. Unfortunately there's no inside dining and barely enough standing room for about four customers. Their apple fritters and chocolate long johns are some of my favorites. All of their donuts and pastries are made fresh daily so it sure smells good around the place whenever they're open!

Donut Drive-In is without a doubt the best donut shop in St. Louis, don't believe me. Read what Alton Brown said from the food network:

This is down the street from my house and I have been going there for 25 years now, even when relatives come into town this donut shop is there first quest while staying with me.
My selection consists of the best glazed donut that melts in your mouth, the old fashioned, which is perfect taste wise, the vanilla or chocolate custard filled, the chocolate glazed cake donut,
cinnamon rolls are so soft, and the cinnamon along with glaze is so tasty, the glazed lemon filled melts in your mouth, and the filling isn't tart its just right. Now the donut holes are so good, my mother could only afford donut holes when we were little tykes and do memorable. The chocolate cake Glazed donut holes ate my favorite snack donuts, the glazed donut holes are so scumptous like the donut.
If you like twists, cinnamon or glazed, these are a must try.
Can't forget my little brother's favorite the best apple fritter and believe me he has tried all of them around town and no ones compare size wise or flavor wise.
Then, to top it off, you can pre-order for the next morning pickup in their box outside as long as you get your order in by 4 pm the night before. There is always a line wrapped around the building every day that should tell you how popular this donut shop really is to the neighborhood. The staff are friendly and welcoming every day with a smile for all.
Prices are reasonable, along with choices bring plenty. If you're in St.Louis you need to stop by and grab some fresh daily made donuts. You just can't miss this local business.

Something to consider when reading this review: I don't eat unhealthy food.
With that said, I had to try this place. I've driven by here a zillion times, and I always see it, and I feel like it's always talking **** to me. "Yeah, that's right, keep drivin' - you can't handle this donut..."
So, as I drove by on a rainy night, I decided that it was time to find out - a showdown between myself and the Drive-In Donut Shop.
Something to consider before visiting Donut Drive-In: There is no drive through window, or staff that greets your car. In no way is this a "Drive-In".
As I exit my car in the rain, Donut Drive-In already has me getting wet. I am losing this classic showdown.
Inside is cramped - with fall here and viruses floating around, I'm not going inside a place that small with other customers. And, despite the evening hour and the rain, this place seems constantly busy.
I ordered 4 donuts - 2 blueberry and 2 chocolate cake with chocolate icing. I never got to the blueberry - I donated the blueberry to the unhoused.
The Chocolate Cake w/ Chocolate Icing Donut from Donut Drive-In was the greatest donut I have ever eaten. I ate both in one setting. I needed to adjust my diet for 3 days afterwards, but it was worth it.
I can't accurately describe the experience with words, but it was well-worth the few dollars, the guilt, and the dietary adjustment.
The Donut Drive-In is legit. I could barely handle their donut mastery. I will return in the future.

Super fluffy donuts, quick service. Even late in the afternoon they had a pretty good selection.
This place has amazing donuts, and their service is always the best. They move the line quickly, so don't be deterred if there are people waiting outside; it's a small space for customers inside. We also find the prices are very fair for their high quality. Love the addition of online ordering ahead of time as it makes the trip even quicker. We drive out of our way to come to this place because it's worth it!
This was my first time and let me just say…..omg. They were so delicious. This is easily one of the best rating doughnut places I’ve been to.
The best donuts in STL city, hands-down!! Open late so you should definitely try having late-night donuts, too ;) Classic shop with friendly, helpful folks. A St. Louis landmark!
