This bakery on The Hill in St Louis has the best Italian cookies with a wide range of choices . Their baked bread is so fresh and yummy we usually eat 4 slices before we even get home . We usually always get fresh Parmesan cheese which is delicious. The cannoli and french horn are filled with the most delicious creams. I grew up in St Louis but I live in Tx., when I gone home Vitale's is one of my first stops . !

Amazing trip to my childhood! I'm first generation Italian my Dad Immigrated to New York when he was 18 from Sicily. Traveled to Detroit and met my mom! As a child he took me to the bakeries in Detroit. Your bakery brought back some GREAT memories the bread, Canolis, and cookies were on point!

Yesterday was my first visit to your bakery. It will not be my last. I picked up bread and a box of cookies to share with my family. Everything is so good and I only had a couple piece of biscotti left for my morning coffee. The ladies are so friendly and helped me pick out my treats. Thank you, I will be back soon.

Was on The Hill eating at Steve's Dogs and saw Vitale's Bakery across the street. Really glad I decided to go inside. My mom was raised on the east coast and one of her favorite eats growing up were cannolis. I grabbed a couple along with a half pound peanut butter tarts. Delicious! My mom was a big fan as well! While I thought the cookies were a tad expensive ($15/lb), the cannolis were priced just right at $3. There were a lot that I plan on going back and trying, especially the ricotta puffs. I just wish I lived closer.

Don't Pass Up. We can't go to St. Louis without stopping by The Hill, and the first place we go is Vitale's Bakery. We usually buy 1lb of cookies which will run you about 10 dollars (kind of expensive), but well worth it. Try the butter cookie variety, they are our favorites.

Fabulous bread. We went to Vitale's Bakery to buy bread because one of our favorite restaurants (Riverbend) told us their bread comes from there. It is fabulous. It's on The Hill, the St. Louis Italian neighborhood.

Excellent. The canolis the ricotta puffs, the sesame cookies- all make it nearly impossible to get anywhere close to the hill without stopping in

Traditional Hill Bakery. Very fun to visit for kids and hard to walk by with out entering. Good selection and like the Old Bakeries of the Hill.
Family have visited it for several years with many favorites.

I always go to the Hill for Bread and rolls as you can't get any better, especially price wise and tasty to boot. Stopped in to pick up some rolls as I was craving good Italian rolls for sandwiches. The ones you get at a grocery store aren't as fresh or delicious, as I can smell how fresh the ŕolls are when I open the bag. Don't get me wrong, they have all kinds of bakerd goods too, like cookies, cakes, cheesecake and so much more. Of course, a selection of pasta and sauces too. Almost anything bakery on the Hill won't disappoint you. This is the bag spilt up into four per bag as there were a dozen rolls in the bag. I keep what I need out and freeze the rest. Don't believe me, go checkout their Bakery yourself.

A tiny quaint, much authentic Italian bakery in the Hill region. They have tons of baked goodies and fresh pasta, pasta sauce, ravioli, cheese etc. we bought a boxful cookies and a cannoli. This is the best cannoli so far I have ever tasted. The cookies are rather mediocre and usual. Some cookies are fine, but most of them have a strong artificial aroma/ essence, which I don’t like. Overall, a very nice place to stop by.

I want to start off by saying 1 very important thing. I am 100% Italian America ,1st generation. 2ND I am from the East Coast originally moved here 7 months ago. I can tell & smell if a bakery is authentic Italian just by the smell. Yes I wrote that. I was excited to learn that there was a Italian community here. The 1st time I went about 2 months ago I was with my toddler that I take care of. We were greeted warmly and was asked if my little one could have a cookie. ( Unfortunately his Mom does not allow him to have sweets) I looked around and was happy to see lots of familiar cookies and pastries. Even looked over at the frigs, where they had prepared meatball & pasta. I left with meatballs, tortellini, and the cookie that was supposed to go to the little one.melted in my mouth. Came back again about 2 weeks later for the meatball & tortellini & a sweet for me. Today was back again after trying the "Other Bakery" .Vitale's is a superior quality bakery over the other bakery by leaps and bounds. Quality!!

If you are looking for an authentic Italian bakery with takeaway options, try out Vitale’s Bakery on The Hill. 🇮🇹 Pop in for a pre-packaged box of assorted Italian treats or fresh marinara from the fridge case.

This bakery was a more authentic bakery than a better known one a few blocks away. I liked their selection of baked goods, including pasta sauces and pasta. Service was friendly. There were prepackaged assortments of baked goods for about $15. Just grab, pay and go. I felt the taste of the baked goods was hit and miss depending on the item. The ameretti cookies were outstanding. Cash only.

Nice bakery with delicious cookies to choose from. My great grandmother from Philadelphia made many of these growing up and it brought me back. My only regret is I wish I went home with more. :) I would be there often if I was local to St. Louis. Check it out! 😍

Just one example of a beautiful and very delicious bread wreath. These were used as part of the centerpieces for a fundraiser. 25 in all, each as spectacular as the next. Thank you!!!

I didn't realize how awesome this place was until I came back to NYC after covid...nothing even close here. I could eat this bread all day and not feel bloated or like I was eating an old towel...I miss this!

I had rainbow cake today which I had never heard of before. I'm a huge rainbow cookie fan. The cake was absolutely amazing and everything I wanted it to be. I can't wait for another slice. Also the cookies are amazing. The girls working today did a great job at managing a crowd with smiles on their faces, and showed kindness to one another even though they were moving fast!

I would post a picture of the cannolis but I ate them already. Those things were legit. Definitely worth going out of your way to get some.

tl;dr excellent fresh bread; bring cash. This is my go-to bakery for fresh Italian and French bread. I have been to other ones in the area, but this one is clearly the best. It also helps that they have far more options than any other bakery that I have been to, such as French bread in several different length and wheat, as well as Italian bread in both white and wheat. They also have hamburger buns and other specialty breads. It is all great and far better than what you typically get at the grocery store. I also appreciate that they give you the option of getting the bread in either paper or plastic bags (which are helpful so it doesn't dry out as quick). Now with that in mind, I have not had much of their cookies and other sweet breads, but I have heard that they are good. What I can say though is that the cookies and other sweet breads are a little pricey for what I would personally pay, but I can't say whether that is really worth it as I haven't tried them myself. While on the topic of money, this business is Cash or Check ONLY. Make sure to bring some because you definitely will want to get food here if you come. Although I can understand a business wanting to avoid credit card fees by refusing to accept them, we are living in 2021 and it is generally an expectation that if you go to a business nowadays, you don't have to pay in cash. I'm sure they will change over eventually, plus I can't hold it against them too much as another bakery that is close by does the same thing.
