We included Gooey Louie mini gooey butter cakes in our wedding welcome bags for our out of town guests, who went crazy for them! We loved how these were individually wrapped with a spoon and card explaining the significance of gooey butter cake to St. Louis. After a custom cookie order cancelled on us last minute during the week of our wedding, it was such a happy accident that we came across this shop. Within 30 minutes, they had 60 of these waiting for us with a smile. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun, St. Louis treat.

I contacted Gooey Louie for mini cakes to add to our welcome wedding bags since they are delicious and have adorable packaging. I was grateful to learn that they could also put together the entire welcome bag! Debbie, the owner was so easy to work with and more than willing to utilize my suggestions. I was thrilled that she created a personalized label with the bride and groom’s name along with the St Louis arch to match our color scheme. This one stop shopping was a huge help to me in planning the wedding, especially since I live out of town. I was excited to include all Missouri made or St Louis themed products. Debbie even delivered the completed beautiful bags directly to the hotel where are guests we’re staying. Everyone loved them! I stopped at the new store today and was happy to see Debbie there, as friendly as always. The place is adorable and offers lots of fun gift and food items. It’s obvious she is passionate about what she does and goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. I would absolutely recommend Gooey Louie for any gift or event that you want to make memorable!!
Had the pumpkin flavor for Thanksgiving and it was outstanding! The turtle flavor was also excellent. It was a pleasure meeting the owner, she went the extra mile for us. It’s a family operation, like two generations in the kitchen handcrafting cakes, which means they may run out occasionally, or be closed outside of normal hours, but to me it’s a small price to pay for a great product made locally.

Picked up three cakes (regular, blueberry, and chocolate chip). They were hands down the best I’ve had and it was the perfect treat for family visiting from out of town. Highly recommend!

I visited Gooey Louie’s because I heard it was the best Butter Cake that could be found in St. Louis. Being in town for business I stopped by to see what all the fuss was about. I brought one cake back for my coworkers and another back for my family. I also got a single serving for myself because I couldn’t wait to try it! (That one didn’t make it out of the parking lot!)
Spoke to the owner of the place and he gave me the background of Gooey Louie including his impressive range of clients (St Louis Cardinals, Def Leppard and Journey crew, Billy Joel, Berkshire Hathaway, and MANY more. This definitely made my time more enjoyable as he was baking fresh cakes while we socialized. I HIGHLY recommend you visit and I know anytime I am in the area I will be visiting!
These cakes are amazingly wonderful! They are so sweet and flavorful! The building smells amazing. The service is as sweet as the cakes and they have a few souvenir items. They have chocolate Chippewa, original, nut flavor, blueberry, chocolate raspberry, chocolate peanut butter, devil's food, turtle park, hog wyld, and tuxedo flavors. You can get a large order and they can ship the cakes. They close when they run out of products so come early!
Absolutely amazing! We came to Gooey Louie 2 years ago and loved the original cake. We were driving through it once again on Route 66 and stopped by 30 mins before closing time. As we walked in the kind lady informed us that all cakes had been sold out and none were left. We were very disappointed and she could clearly see this. We told her how much we’d been anticipating the cake as we cannot get something like this in the UK. She then sold us a cake from an order that was due to be picked up the next day and told us that they’ll bake a new one for that customer in the morning. I cannot tell you how gracious we were at this kindness. She was so lovely and we will always remember her. Thank you!
We order Gooey Buttercakes for our clients each year. They customize the box using our logo which adds a very nice personal touch. Our clients love the Gooey Buttercakes! Great company to work with!
Went out of his way to put together wedding gift basket stuffers for us at the last minute. He was professional, courteous, and the price was amazing for his personalized treats. The shop is out of the way, but the owner explained it saves him rent money which helps him keep prices low. I have met few professionals who care so much about getting it right for his customers.
