My niece and I stopped to get a late breakfast to go. Because of the pandemic, understandably, the no. of people allowed inside at one time is limited.
As breakfast places go, this is the benchmark. Real food, well prepared, fabulous bacon, friendly waitresses, endless coffee, old style booths and tables.
If you want a 1960's family place, welcome. If you want trendy with cute menu items, go somewhere else.
If I lived near here, I would be here every week and weigh 400 pounds, but I would sure be happy.

Breakfast anytime of the day. It's breakfast, it's diner food, it's satisfying and delicious. There's not much else to be said about it.
The service factor just depends on who you get (and what time it is). I have had an incredibly attentive and pleasant server, and also servers who just bring the food and you never see them again. It was 3 in the morning - who cares. Not me, as long as the food was good.
To the other reviewers complaining about tips automatically being on your bill: They have signs posted ALL OVER THE RESTAURANT explaining that during certain hours you will have gratuity added to your bill. You're welcome.
Best waffles ever! I always get the blueberry ones. I've tried lots of other stuff on the menu and its all pretty good, but nothing beats the waffles. Prepare for a wait if you go at the weekend, but the line moves fast.
Stopped by for a late night breakfast. Got the supreme french toast fans eggs. Generous portions.
Outdated and AWESOME!. This place is an institution - great food, greasy as all get out, and tons of fun. Great people-watching place. Get the HUGE omelets - they're CRAZY good.
3am oasis. Look, I know it's a little dingy, old, and greasy. It's still better than Courtesy Diner or IHOP for value and selection. This place has the 3am service to groups of drunks routine down, and I've always been glad we went there after a night of bar hopping in St. Louis. I like the people that go there too, it's a fun cross section of the St. Louis area. Don't let the guys stop you who hang around the entrance and offer a tragic story about why they need a couple of dollars, just say "no I'm sorry" and walk by.

I've never had anything there that wasn't just what I wanted. Food is quick to arrive and always delicious.
The pierced guy who waits tables late in the day is my favorite. Super nice and always friendly.
Breakfast. My girlfriend and I like to go to uncle bill's for breakfast. We would go here when we first started dating. I always have a cup of coffee. The food is always good and so is the service! We always get our food in a timely manner no matter how busy they are. I recommend.
Late Night Tradition. Uncle Bill's is a late night spot only for me. I would never go for breakfast at a proper time, as I don't really find the food to be that great. It is a step up from Denny's though, so if you're out late and not wanting a slinger, Uncle Bill's is the spot. I'll say this about the place too: you can go in shit-canned or stoned, whatever, and sit forever and you'll never get attitude from the staff for it. It's a very easy place to be comfortable. The opposite of uptight. And they get major points for that, because that's the main reason to go.
24 hr Breakfast. Fantastic place for breakfast. Watch out for long lines on Sundays however. My favorite was the waffle but their pancakes were also something to write home about. Feels very much like a diner as you will see patrons of all kinds at every hour of the night.
Best Pancakes Only. I went here for breakfast, wow the pancakes were to die for they have the best pancakes I have tasted yet in St. Louis. However, when you get into their omelets at least the cheese omelet terrible, the worse I ever had. Maybe the others are better. I love cheese omelets and for me if you can not cook a good cheese omelet then the rest are probably worse. I have not eaten dinner there or lunch, but the omelets I can not recommend, I had the cheese omelet and I will never order it again, tasted like a road side dinner's food cooked in old grease.
If I go for breakfast which I will, I will order the pancakes only and milk, worth it to the full.
By the way the table was dirty and the seat was broken but I enjoyed the pancakes.

I love this place. The inside is so homey and cozy, like eating over at someone’s house rather than dining out. Everyone I encountered was very nice and service was polite and efficient (shoutout to Sarah). The food was good, sturdy, line cooked breakfast. I got the corned beef hash and it was nothing fancy from a can but yummy and crispy all the same. The pancakes look like works of art though. They are big and beautiful and filled or topped with a number of exotic choices. Open 7am to 7 pm I’m a breakfast lover, but I will be back to get dinner too.
Came here after our first choice was a long wait. Was pleasantly surprised. The staff is great, quick service. The bacon is great and the food overall is pretty good. Pancakes are alright but the variety of pancakes makes it worth it. Would come back again for sure.
Awesome pancake house. Pancakes were fantastic. Also had the banana pancakes which were delicious. The country fried steak came with a short stack of pancakes, it was so much food! Great breakfast spot.
I travel quite frequently for work and this has been one of my top 5. Food portions were definitely more than expected. The price is very reasonable and you definitely get your money's worth!. Open 24 hours as well. If you are ever in St.Louis, I definitely recommend this place.

In town visiting and came with local friends on a Saturday morning.
They were a little short staffed for the front of the house but only had a 15 minute wait. I’m glad they had guests wait as opposed to getting people in with bad service. Our server Lindsey was fast and very attentive.
Very large portions for a great price. Food came out of the kitchen fast and was all cooked perfectly. Definitely a step above a chain restaurant.

We went back recently. The first time for me in a few years. The food was still good with good service. The portions were of good size. My salad and chicken were filling. MJ's chicken and waffles met her standards. My stepson's pancakes were so large he couldn't finish them. His girlfriend did manage to finish her meal. Little wonder this is a St.Louis institution.
Always a sure thing! We love their breakfast items and the nostalgia of the restaurant makes it even better. The entire staff are great and the restaurant is super clean.
We showed up unannounced with 24. Not only did they not blink, they handled it like pros. We were in and out in an hour. The food was fresh, delicious, and affordable. The place could be updated, but it does add to the charm.
They use to be 24 hours now it's 7-7. Good food. Lots of choices. Kids menu isn't that big. They have the cutest smallest cups! Would visit again would recommend.
Hands down the best breakfast in STL. Very traditional in taste and menu items, traditional western tavern decor, and great customer service. I highly recommend if you’re in the area and you’re looking to get full from breakfast until dinner.

Always great diner coffee that keeps coming. Sure, you could do Denny's, but this ain't no chain, friend. Bill's has a dated decor and feel, but that's actually part of the charm. It's warm and friendly. It is unique!
Bill's is a city institution. Table service is usually great, and today was no exception.
Oh, did I forget to mention the yummy pancakes?
We saw our waitress 3 times. When we ordered, when she brought our food and when she brought the missing blueberries for the waffle after it was mostly eaten. We had to ask other staff members for coffee refills and for the soda that had been ordered but never brought to us. The blueberries were refused which she thought was funny, we had tried to get her attention multiple times before giving up and eating. Another server even brought us the bill. Once we ordered, the waitress disappeared for a good length of time. The bacon was cold. One of us ordered a side of sausage links. That ended up being 2 breakfast links for $4! Other than that, the food was good but the service was the worst. I don't think we will ever go there again and if we do, we will try the West County location instead.
If you’re looking for a whole in a wall, bang for your buck, hearty meal - stop by. The food comes out super fast. The staff is very friendly. The portions are very fulfilling. I highly recommend it if you can break away from IHOP or another chain gang restaurant.
Uncle bills was great. Me and my girlfriend usually meet here for breakfast but I have been coming here since the 90's. I had the chicken and waffles and it was really good. The meal was served with real chicken instead of chicken strips and was cooked to order. I am actually thinking about going back and ordering it again!

Although the restaurant was completely full, our server was attentive. You get a lot of food for a good price, I couldn’t finish it all and it was all very good!
