Fitz’s may be known for their root beer, but the restaurant is not to be underestimated. In the dining room, there’s a giant window offering a peek at the assembly line for their sodas and if you come at the right time, you can see the bottles rolling along for tumbling and labeling. It’s a rare thing to see in a restaurant and it adds to the fun atmosphere. They have a large dining room as well as some additional seating just up a set of stairs.
The sodas are the star of the show at Fitz’s. If you’ve never been, you can go wrong getting a frosty mug of their root beer. It’s famous for a reason, it’s hands down the best root beer I’ve ever encountered. The other soda flavors are all great and the best thing about the unlimited mug is that you can refill with a different soda if you want to try another. The floats are absolutely huge and can easily be shared unless you’re really hungry. The server was kind and split our float into 2 mugs which I greatly appreciated. They also have shakes and malts, which I’m sure are good, but the floats are gonna be the thing to start with.
The food itself has a lot of standards you’d expect in St Louis such as toasted ravioli, BBQ, slingers, burgers, pizzas, and sandwiches. The burgers are large, well seasoned, and delicious, especially that BBQ burger. I’ve also enjoyed both the spicy chicken sandwich as well as the turkey club. Get a side of the chili mayo to dip your fries in and you will not regret it. In a place known for soda, I wasn’t expecting the food to be as good as it was. The small but mighty kitchen is nonstop with all of the employees working hard to push the orders out quickly and perfectly. They don’t have many desserts, but their gooey butter cake came out nice and warm with whipped cream and it was so tasty.
This restaurant can get very busy and it’s not uncommon to have a long wait. The staff has always done a great job communicating and setting realistic expectations. All of the servers are so friendly, aren’t afraid to make recommendations first timers, and are quick to help. I’ve always been impressed with the quality of the service they consistently provide. That’s not an easy thing to do in a place that’s so busy all the time. Hats off to Fitz’s for providing a great experience and serving up some great food.
Super fun place to eat. Great options for food and environment. I did not like the root beer and the bartender knew it in advance 🤭😅 We had a great time there. Very crowded
My wife wanted to take our son here and I thought "sure, it'll be mediocre but fun for my son." I was completely wrong. We ordered the chicken wings appetizer; 10/10. I got the fish and chips; 10/10. My son got the burger; 10/10. My wife got the chili; 10/10. The root beer is fun but they have real beer if you want to have an adult beverage. The atmosphere is laid back and fun. Our server, Jade, was everything anyone could ask for in a server. Very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. The portions are amazing. We'll be coming back here every time we frequent the STL. Fitz give Jade a raise, and thanks for making our trip even better.
The famous local root beer company, a must try in St. Louis if you’re a big fan of root beers. Although they are located on a popular street, they do have a huge parking lot. We tried some burgers, they were great. The sides were also extremely generous. It took us two meals to finish them. They also had a great selection of root beers. Will highly recommend this place if you’re visiting Delmar.
I loved eating here. The root beer is really good tasting. Good enough that I'm taking a 24 pack with me back home to Iowa. I tried the Hip Hop Pop, strawberry and the regular root beer. All were very smooth and full of flavor. The ice cream float was called "Nod to Nelly" and was really good. Supposedly his favorite to eat. They give you a lot of ice cream so I feel it's worth the price for the floats. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. The sandwich was called "King Louis" and was a lot of food as well. My daughters cheese pizza had a great tasting crust. I would definitely recommend trying this place out if you love burgers and floats!
What a fantastic restaurant! It was my first time here, and I loved the shakes and the food! Sometimes when you have a place famous for one thing, the other areas get neglected, but not here. The floats are incredible, but so is the food. Service was also very prompt and helpful. I had the patty melt, and it was one of the best I've ever had.
First things first shout out to Elijah our waiter. He was fun. Helpful. We got along very well so if you ever see him tip him well. I didn't get any food but the people who had food and I quote it's greatness. It's really delicious and by that I'll take it for their word. Definitely go back again to try everything else. Pretty reasonable and price and honestly just go back in to see Elijah he was great company. 10 out of 10. Highly recommend
I have been here several times in the past for my birthday and after a long time away I decided to come back and it was so good! Got a Cookie Monster float for $8 and the Bourbon Burger. They gave me a free soda for my birthday which was a great touch. Our waiter was Eddie D the guy was great!!! He had a great sense of humor and was very good at his job.
This place was really unique. We had burger, fries, and pineapple. All were on point. Then we had a "trouble float". It was so good. The attached photo is only half of a regular float. My son and I split the burger and float. The waitress was awesome and had them do half and half on each plate/mug for us. I would highly recommend this place if your in St. Louis.
Such a fun place and the food was great. Every employee we interacted with was so helpful and kind. When I initially found the place I was excited because my son loves root beer and root beer floats and I thought he would really enjoy seeing it bottled. Sadly the machine was not working but that would have just been a bonus. Everything was fantastic
Fitz's stands out thanks to its signature sodas. I ordered the bottomless mugs which allowed me to try 5 different flavors (tip: ask for a sample cup). The root beer was excellent, with just the right amount of carbonation, and a hint of vanilla. I liked the cream soda more due to its creaminess and strong vanilla flavor. Moving on to the food, the Gumbo was great, but would have been better with more seafood in it. As for the Bourbon Burger, it was neither good nor bad. The sauce accompanying it lacked a bourbon kick. All in all, worth a stop if you’re a fan of root beer.
We sat at the counter and had the bottomless mug. Tried 4 different flavors of their pop. They were all delicious. The food looked amazing, and it was fun watching the counter server make the different floats. Purchased 2 variety packs of my choosing to take back to Minnesota. The only disappointment was the bottling room was not running. That would have been so cool to see. Next time we come to St. Louis hopefully be able to see the bottling and eat some food.
Had a great time. Had the Bourbon burger and kids pulled pork. Also tried cream soda, grape soda, and black cherry soda. We soooo wanted a float but we were too full. We saw a lot of them while there and they all looked delicious.
Known for their famous soda, this restaurant has an extensive menu with SEVERAL soda flavor! A great place for a bite and treat, in the heart of Delmar.
Rode the Loop Trolley to get here, and it is a nice place to stop off and eat. Lots of seating on the ground floor, there is a 2nd floor you can access from stairs, and outdoor seating with umbrellas. It was very loud in the main seating area. Waitress was very friendly, we were waited on right away. We had a party of 12 so it understandably took a little while to be served... but all the food and ice cream floats looked amazing. I ordered the cuban and it was very tasty. Will definitely return and make a day of it.
Smokey pork sandwich with Fritz’s BBQ was tasty. Kid friendly environment. Great service.
