Did the Sunday lunch buffet. Was very good with dishes that were new to me and standard favourites. Service was professional Mango lassi included!
A good lunch option. I went here for a quick lunch, while on business in Creve Coeur. Their buffet has a larger than average selection, and everything I had was good. I won't hesitate to come back if I'm in the neighborhood.
I've eaten at almost every Indian restaurant in St. Louis and Flavor of India is definitely the best! My fiancé and I could eat there every day (we go at least twice a month).
Came in on a Sunday at 6:30 and we were pretty lonely (3 other tables besides us?) Not sure why because we LOVED everything and will come back. Very good prices (ESP for cloth tablecloths and napkins) and portions.
Definitely go for the buffet - so many choices and they are all delicious!
Great atmosphere and service. The food was delicious and is reasonably priced for the portion you get. Stop in if you are looking fo great authentic Indian food.
I Love the Weekend Buffet, But..... Before I start my Flavor of India comments, I have to explain the following: I've been a fan of House of India at 170 and Delmar for close to 15 years, especially for the quality of its weekend buffet and the friendly, accommodating servers. As good as the buffet is, however, I encounter a problem at House of India: Many of the limited main dishes are cream-based or contain cheese, and I happen to hate most dairy foods. (As the restaurant is generally packed on weekends, I recognize that this "problem" is strictly my own.) I raise this issue because Flavor of India-which I believe was started by some people who had been affiliated with House of India some time ago-features a similar weekend buffet menu to the one at House of India, except that Flavor of India's selections are greater in number and include more non-dairy-based dishes for me to enjoy. Additionally, the quality of the food is almost on a par with that of House of India. I take issue with Flavor of India, however, because its servers are reserved almost to the point of rudeness. While service is competent, efficient, and attentive, it is never warm or inviting. Sometimes I feel as though the presence of diners is getting in the way of whatever else the servers would rather be doing. So I frequent the weekend buffet at Flavor of India because of the well-prepared array of food but cannot say I enjoy the experience.
A great experience!. Flavor of Indian is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in St. Louis. The first time I ate at Flavor of India was actually my first time eating Indian food. Because it was my first time, my waitor was very excited and told my boyfriend and I how the food was cooked and where it was rooted from, right down to the beer (which was delicious too). Since Flavor of India I have tried other places and Rasoi is the only other restaurant that comes close. Go see for yourself!
First time here and I will definitely be back. Service was fast, friendly, and personable. Food was hot and tasted amazing! They have great vegan options. They even worked with us on the vegetarian combination appetizer to substitute dairy items with non dairy options. Highly recommend. I had many question about little things, and they were more than willing to talk me through it all. I found many pieces of whole spices and was curious to what they were (now knowing it is cardamom). Anyway, you know you are getting good quality fresh food because you can see and taste it.
The food is always delicious! The lunch buffet prices are amazing, especially for the amount of food you can pile into the box, it's usually enough for me to have left overs for dinner too! I love that I now live closer to this place, because it makes it so much easier to get some yummy Indian food any time I'm craving it!
The food is great, and they are very accommodating for vegans. The owner walked me around the buffet, pointing out the vegan dishes, and even brought me out some fresh roti from the kitchen at no extra charge. They almost always have samosas on the buffet, which I've never seen before!
👍👍I think this is the best Indian restaurant in the area. Daily buffet with a big selection. Reasonably priced. They have a private dining room. See my pictures for buffet items. Google says there is sometimes a wait to be seated, but I've come here for 12 years and never have had to wait (though it can get busy). It's a great place to come if you are in a hurry... You can get a plate or two of food and be gone as fast as you eat. 👍👍
They have less number of items in the buffet. But the food is very good. I would say best in St. Louis. Food will not make you feel sleepy or acidic. It is very authentic home style cooking. God bless the cook. Some of the Indian dishes are only served here. Pricing is reasonable.
My Indian grandpa introduced me to this restaurant and it's one of my favorites. We eat here regularly. I love the variety of dishes they offer. The food quality seems good to me. GPA has never complained about the food quality either.
I had never been to an Indian buffet before, so this might be biased against any other Indian buffets. Having not been before, I tried to sample everything offered and I couldn't find a single thing that wasn't delicious. I was absolutely stuffed by the time I was ready to go. My only complaint is that I was unable to find anything spicy enough to make my cry, but that's probably a good thing.
This place is absolutely fantastic! Our whole family loves it, even our two young children which is so cool because it is such a healthy option. In fact my son requested this place for his tenth birthday meal earlier this year! I know many reviews say it is Indian food made for Americans... they must be right because I'm an American and I love it. There are three restaurants in St. Louis I would highly recommend out-of-towners try when they visit... Anthonino's on the Hill, Mandarin Garden in St. Charles, and Flavor of India on Olive Rd!!
The food is delicious and I enjoyed every dish that I ate there. Especially liked the samosas and jamoons. The taste is authentic. I ate the veggie foods and my friend who ate the dishes with meat said that they were equally good too. The service is good and folks are friendly.
The Friday and Saturday night dinner buffet is a great choice. Everything at Flavor of India is delicious so being able to experience many dishes is awesome. The staff are always very kind and attentive.
Came here for the lunch buffet. Good selection including vegetarian/vegan. Best samosas I've ever had. Chicken tikka masala was a little too tomato forward for my tastes and the chicken vindaloo actually could have been a bit more spicy. The gulab jamun syrup could have used a bit more cardamom and saffron. Other than these three minor minor complaints, everything was delicious.
Great for vegetarians or vegans! This has become our go-to spot for Indian food. The food is incredibly tasty. The atmosphere is casual but with a touch of quiet elegance.
I especially love the paneer palak (spinach and cheese cubes), vegetable korma (veggies stewed in a creamy spice sauce), and their dessert paneer (like a donut hole, but cheese). Good naan (flatbread) too! If you aren't familiar with Indian food, this is a great way to sample different kinds.
On our last visit, I overheard the waiter talking with another customer about tofu, which was not on the buffet. I asked if they were getting ready to bring a tray of it to the buffet or if the other table had ordered it special. I think it was the special order but a few minutes later, the waiter came to our table with a small dish of it and asked if we were still interested. I don't think they charged us extra. I'm not sure that they do this on a regular basis, but I share this to show how they took good care of us, especially when they heard we prefer to eat vegetarian.
I've been coming to this place for the lunch buffet for nearly 10 years. Always get good service, always great food. Low key and quick. Some of the best Indian food in town.
Super food in a quiet rather elegant feeling place. We did not eat the buffet so that might be a different experience. The flavors were lovely and the service was great.
One of our most favorite restaurants, and we dined here every Saturday night. Sadly, as of 8/3/2019 they had closed and out of business signs on the doors. Some of the best Indian food available in the area, it will surely be missed.
I like the food. The buffet is a little limited but if you want to try India food, it is a good place to start. But don't let it be a final say so. Trying different foods is something I love to do. And this is a great starting baseline.
