Ok, the server/cook guy may not be friendly, but the food is great and cheap. If you get over the fact that you wouldn't be greeted with a professional smile, this is a place where you can enjoy a spicy bulgoki or a nice bibimbap. You may also become a regular considering the fact that you really can't find good Korean food at those prices anywhere around.
One more thing, their kimchi is really good. I mean I have tried kimchi from various international food stores around town but the taste is nowhere near it.

맛있는 . One man band. He does it all: takes your order, cooks it, serves it, buses the dishes, rinse and repeat. Cash only. Or at least it was the time I went, not sure if it's still that way? Good bowl of grub, I doubt you'll leave unsatisfied. Just don't expect the friendliest of service.

Deeee-licious. The bibimbap is amazing. Best korean food I have ever had. The service is charming and the location is a converted old diner. We go here almost once a week, the bibimbap is that good! Be prepared...he only accepts cash.

Bulgogi. Solid stir-fried bulgogi with a side of rice, and some marinated bean sprouts. This place is probably the cheapest place you can get bulgogi at, though Seoul Garden's lunch special is a close second (hm... maybe it is cheaper there... whatever...). The meat here isn't too sweet or too salty and the fact that you're eating at a diner at some back-corner in the loop just adds to the street cred.

Respect.

Yum. Great Korean food at a very unpretentious and cozy diner. Make sure you get some of their Korean hot sauce mixed in to whatever you order! I will be back for sure.

Delicious.. I've been wanting to try Korean for a while now, so I went here with a friend, and it was delicious. I'm definitely taking more people here.

U-City grill is a cozy one man Korean operation. If you want some savory korean barbecue you came to the right place. Come for the authentic Bi-Bim-Bap or the feel-good beef bulgoki. There is nothing better for the price.

Tucked away in a small retro diner, this gem serves homemade Korean cooking. The owner skillfully crafts meals from scratch, creating a show in itself. Don't expect much in terms of customer service; the solo owner tends to keep to himself. Also, remember to bring cash, as that's the only form of currency they accept. Despite the lack of service, the affordable prices and authentic flavors make it a must-visit.

Delicious, authentic, and affordable bibimbap! The owner/chef makes everything fresh right in front of you. As is the case with many authentic Asian restaurants, don't expect much service but the food makes it all worth it.

U-City Grill is a laid-back place with a small eating area at a bar. I loved their beef bulgogi - so tasty! The prices were good too. Don't forget to bring cash when you visit. I'm planning to get takeout from them next time!

Incredibly tasty and affordable place! Chef doesn't talk much but is very nice and filled water's regularly for us. Some of the cleanest ( light on oil ), tastiest Korean food around. Bring cash and thank me for the recommendation 🙏

Small but cute family owned Korean restaurant, food is reasonable priced and delicious! 😋 Quick service, too! This place is open since 1988, more than 30 years now! The guy who works in the store may seems cold on surface, but he is really nice guy if you try to talk to him. This is my place to go whenever I come back to St. Louis.

The food was amazing!!! You sat at a counter, and the chef/owner cooks the food right in front of you. It was very much a hole in the wall retro/under-rated vibe. Do bring cash!! We got the bulgogi beef, the bibimbob, and the bokumbob. Everything was amazing. We will definitely come back!!

Kindest owner. I stopped by today for some takeout and after ordering, ran across the street to find an ATM as I had forgotten cash. With the banks closed, I had trouble getting cash withdrawn, so I went back to the restaurant to explain that I would run home to grab cash then come back to pick up the food. Instead, he said that I should go ahead and take the meal, and stop by with the money when I could. I tried to turn him down, but he insisted. So I took the food home then brought back the money after finishing the meal--which was fantastic as always. It speaks volumes when an owner treats their customers with this level of kindness, particularly in a time when small businesses are being hit harder than ever. This restaurant was already a favorite of mine, but now I will be going every chance I get. Thanks again.

No frills restaurant for the college student. Solid food for the price paid. Never had Korean food at that budget.

Best food in the Loop and beyond. Love the food and atmosphere, great to be able to support such a local gem. Please be patient as there's not a million staffers, but any short wait is well worth it. Get 2x your order for luxurious leftovers.

Food is great, fast, cheap. This bibimbob with bulgogi beef is my favorite. Cash only. Little seating. One employee who does everything, and is very gruff, not really at all friendly. But this hole in the wall is worth your time.

Some of the most inexpensive and deliciously good food. I love the Bibimbob! Bring cash; credit and debit cards are not accepted. The owner doesn’t speak much nor smiles often but his skills on that griddle are out of this world and worth every bit of a wait! Enjoy.

Tasty food for bargain price, pricing is sometimes a bit weird as the guy randomly throws out a number that doesn't explain how he got to it (I tried doing the math). Other than that the food is good and usually at a good price.

The food here is amazing, good portions, and cheap. Bring cash. It's counter service and the guy seems to run it alone so don't expect chit chat. However everything is delicious, served decently quickly, and ask your needs are met.

The food was great here! Very well priced and service was quick! Owner doesn’t talk much but that’s just his style. He gave us plenty of water and cooked delicious Korean food! I’ll definitely come back for a quick bite!
