There is an obvious clue to a good Chinese restaurant. A good Chinese restaurant is filled with Chinese people. And that is exactly what I found picking up take out at The Oriental House.
The menu offers all the generic dishes one usually identifies with fast food Chinese, but also has an extensive authentic Chinese menu, at similar prices, and that is where the real flavor exists. I admit I was flying blind with my ordering from the authentic menu in my recent visit, but while I was there I got the owner and one of the waitresses to point out their favorites for return trips. I am pretty sure that will be in the next week. The buffet is no longer served.

Outstanding Chinese Food. Excellent food and service. Buffet is cheap and excellent, if a bit cramped due to crowding and placement of the buffet carts.
If you like General Tso's Chicken (and really, who doesn't) you won't find any better inthe city.

Excellent!. This is our favorite casual Chinese restaurant hands-down. The food is always hot, fresh and perfectly cooked; the servers are attentive and cheerful; and you can't beat the prices, particularly for the lunch-specials, which are generous and served with the best egg-rolls we've sampled in the area. Don't be fooled by the exterior--everything about this place is so wonderful that I eat here weekly with friends and still look forward to every meal!
The Oriental House is good chinese for Louisville. Not NY or San Fran china town but always good. Decor needs some work and service is usually good.

This is the best Chinese restaurant in town. I recently heard it was also the 1st oriental restaurant in Louisville.
Best Chinese food on town they have to menus one western style Chinese and one authentic Chinese I recomend choosing from the authentic one. The staff are friendly and always remember me and my wife even if we haven't been there in a while and there are always large groups of Chinese there which must say something for the food cause I rarely see that at other places
A Step Above Your Average Chinese Restaurant. Eaten take-out from here a few times. Everything has been really good, especially the fried rice. I've tried the noodles, rice, Mongolian Beef, potstickers, crab rangoon, and eggrolls. It was all excellent. The menu from the restaurant is more extensive than on their website. It even has an authentic dishes page. Will be trying more things. So far, nothing but good experiences.
Pretty good food. This place has awesome food and i love that they serve roasted duck its really good. wait staff not on par as the food but better than most other chinese restaurants ive been to. overall great place for a taste of china.
Like/dislike. Gone there about 20 times. Never know how its going to be. Sometimes its amazing and other times its nasty. Tried the buffet and didnt like it. Could have been better but they never changed out the old food. They would wait till it was all gone and then wait 10 mins. to put more in
Simple, good Chinese. Tried both buffet & dinner. Buffet has small selection but they are good (better than most Chinese buffets I have tried in Louisville). Definitely try their appetizers from the "picture" menu :). The shrimp & chives dumplings are awesome. Tried quite a few of the entrees. Never disappointed.

Live a little!. Not to be missed are the items on the "Authentic Chinese" menu. Some I love are Hong kong wonton soup with noodles. Add a few sides of dim sum plates and you got a meal. Fish fillet sauted w. salt & pepper, Seafood congee to name a few. Don't afraid to ask the staff for suggestion.
Like a home grown piece of China brought to Louisville with flavor intact.

Food was good but pricey for what i ordered., no table service. Stood in line and Ordered and paid at the counter. Food was brought to the table in containers in a to go bag. Paper Plates were provided on table. with a plastic fork and 1 napkin! Iced tea was hot, had to ask for ice. Strange in store dining! Missed having full service dining with a server! I've been going to oriental house for over 40 years. Definitely a different experience!
The salvation was that the food was good!
They are renovating and will be closed for 6 to 8 weeks, will give them another try later this summer!
Great food but they haven’t been open for dine in for over 2 years. They have to be losing business because of this. Seems like they’re trying to compare China to The United States with this virus! Enough already, open up!
Our family has been eating here for years! I am talking five generations of my family! We all love it and that is a tough feat to follow these days. Thank you Oriental House. You deserve Best of Louisville, for five generations of my families lifetime!
We really enjoyed our meal at Oriental House while on a road trip. We had the General Tso’s Tofu, Shu Mai, and Chow Fun. Our food was delicious and ready quickly. The service was incredible; the proprietor and their son really went out of their way for us. Thank you for a great experience!
Best Authentic Chinese food in Louisville. The owners are amazing and my husband and I miss dining in and catching up with the staff. Great food and great people.
