Well I've had Bbq all over the US. Including Georgia, KC, Texas, Carolina, Tenn, Alabama & Fla. This Southern Soul BBQ on St Simons Island Ga. I rate as my favorite. The Ribs are decidly better than any other I've had. Competition quality, flavor and consistency. The Georgia sweet also the best sauce I've had. As a truck driver I'm not a regular customer But once or twice every couple of months I make it a must stop. I also can’t leave there without the Soul dust dry rub and a couple bottles of sauce. I recently discovered that their Georgia sweet barbecue sauce won first place for best sauce in Georgia. I can’t say anymore than I highly recommend hitting this place. You may discover a long line waiting to get in so be like me and call ahead for your order you will not be disappointed. The smoked Turkey is also very good.

We are vacationing on the island and decided to stop by on a whim. I got the three meat plate (pork, brisket, and sausage) as well as the brisket chili. Every piece of the meal was outstanding! I will be back, even if I have to drive down from Atlanta just for the day.

Delish, juicy, tender brisket and half a chicken. ALL their sauces were great but I enjoyed their original sauce the best.

I’ve tried BBQ all over the state of GA including Fox Brothers in Atlanta. Southern Soul beats them all. Meat is smoky and moist. No sauce needed. Sides are delicious too. Mac and cheese is top notch and the fried okra was spot on!

I wish I could give this 10 stars! We are100 percent BBQ snobs. This place has officially dethroned our favorite in Florida and that is saying a lot! Collard greens are my love language and these will make you want to slap yo momma and grandma! What??!! The BBQ sauce, hush puppies, and more are all on point. Yes it’s busy and yes you will have to wait but get over it you’re on southern time. They move you through quickly and oh so southern friendly. Honestly, I won’t be mad if we eat here everyday until we go back to Florida. We have found heaven on earth! Let me be clear my husband eats carnivore and I eat vegetarian so you know it’s good when a vegetarian writes a review of 10 outta 10!

Wow! Absolutely blown away by the food here. Lucky me, it was Friday and they do prime rib on Fridays. I ordered the prime rib sandwich…mind blown! I saw the prime rib platter and it looked perfect. If you are visiting this wonderful location do not miss out on this fantastic restaurant!

Rolling up the east coast on our anniversary road trip and stopped by to check out this place. Amazing place for sure, worth the out of the way drive. We went with the two meat platter, excellent pulled pork with great sauces, smoked mac n cheese is spot on, and the Brunswick stew had great texture with the perfect spice, but the kicker for me was the smoked sausage. I'm a southern boy and when we had cook-outs my Grandpa would get this spicy sausage and smoke it, he and I would eat it on a slice of white bread with mustard. Well, they have a smoked sausage and white bread with a spicy mustard and I'm a little kid at a great cook-out, again. They also have a little "smoke shop" next door with crazy sauces, rubs, and other odd off the hook things.✌😎

I had the pleasure of dining at Southern Soul on Demere Road during my recent visit to St. Simons Island, Georgia, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm Southern hospitality. Now, let's talk about the food – it was nothing short of exceptional. I couldn't resist trying their famous pulled pork sandwich, and it was a flavor explosion in every bite. The meat was tender, smoky, and paired perfectly with their homemade selection of BBQ sauces. Fries were great, slaw was outstanding and I loved their fried okra. The portion sizes were generous, leaving me completely satisfied - stuffed! To wash it all down, I indulged in some sweet tea, which was the perfect complement to my meal. Southern Soul certainly knows how to make an authentic Southern meal complete. The service at Southern Soul was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, providing recommendations and ensuring that my dining experience was top-notch. Their commitment to customer satisfaction was evident throughout my visit. Southern Soul on Demere Road is more than just a restaurant; it's a true Southern culinary experience. The combination of delicious food, welcoming atmosphere, and exceptional service makes this place a must-visit for anyone traveling to St. Simons Island. Sitting outside watching the planes land is a fun added bonus. I can't wait to return on my next trip to Georgia. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would!

Loved the ribs and pulled pork! Portions were so big, we took home half for another meal. Potato salad and macaroni and cheese were excellent. Service was fast and friendly too.

Not that impressed. It's a fun place, but I judge every BBQ joint by their ribs. These were a little on the dry side. They were tender enough, but the order came out so quickly (only a couple of minutes) that they had to be just in a warmer waiting to be thown on a plate. They might consider putting some hot BBQ sauce on them after they are plated. We got the potato salad and coleslaw, both were OK but had a funny sprinkle of seaoning on top. Good location, plenty of seating.

Great BBQ! The ribs, Brisket, chicken, and turkey was the standout. The sauces were just ok, all were based on variations of the same base sauce. Sides were disappointing and didn't stand up to the BBQ.

This has to be what I would classify as an icon. Wow, just plain wow. Parking was a challenge, but I understand why. We went inside and ordered at the counter and were immediately able to find a seat inside, which was ideal since we had an infant. The decor was mind-blowing because it really highlighted all the awards for the restaurant. The food was out of this world. I've eaten BBQ all across the country. This is the absolute best brisket I've ever eaten. It tops Pappy's in St. Louis. The brisket melts in your mouth, and the flavor is unexplainable. Pulled pork was excellent, and our friend was blown away by the turkey. My wife says this was the best Brunswick Stew she has ever eaten. It was out of the way for our trip, but we all agreed it's worth traveling here just for this food. Just plain wow. I could not recommend this anymore. 10 put of 5. Visited the gift shop afterward and was worth it!!!!!

The food was amazing. My girlfriend and I made a special trip to this restaurant after playing golf and it did not disappoint. We were lucky enough to grab a seat at the bar or else there would have been a wait. We ordered the bbq sampler plate (pictured) and it was delicious. We also ordered Brunswick stew which was equally delicious. The guy sitting next to me ordered brisket stew (I think) which he said is better than the Brunswick stew. To each their own.

Visiting St. Simon's Island, Ga for our Oh Sip, It's A Girls Trip! The first day they had some kitchen issues but was able to serve a limited menu. I had 1/2 slab of ribs, collard greens, hush puppies! OMG, so delicious we went back today! I ordered the same thing and the black eyed peas! Highly recommend, it's a must visit on the island if you like Southern Soul Food?

From the minute we walked in, the overwhelming smell of barbecue permeated the air. With every bite of the pulled pork and the beef brisket, we barely could contain our taste buds, as savory piece was incredible. The brisket was slightly charred and the taste had a ligh smokey taste. The pulled pork virtually melted in my mouth, as I could not put down my fork. It was a delight to go there.

Outstanding food! Highlights: 1. Great quality meats and sides. Note: Brunswick Stew actually originated in Brunswick, Va. - not GA. As such, the stew here is a bit different- more meaty and spicy - but still good. Beef brisket was excellent— a tiny bit fatty for the price- nevertheless- it’s good. 2. Piping hot and fresh food! 3. Helpful and polite employees Opportunities: 1. Limited Seating 2. Somewhat limited hours - as of this writing, 11am-7pm daily and closed Tuesdays. 3. No kids menu & a bit pricy- but this is a coastal area. Definitely worthy of 5 stars, though!

First time in St. Simons! Stopped here for lunch once we got in town. The grilled pimento cheese sandwich was “obviously” delicious! Potato salad is a perfect mix of Dijon and Mayo. The hush puppies with the house-made honey mustard is superb! To top it all off, our bartender Sophie gave us 5 Star recommendations to other places around the island to make our anniversary trip more memorable. 10/10 recommend Southern Soul BBQ!

Locals will tell you this is a tourist trap since Guy Fieri did his show there (which it is) but their food is always outstanding. I would've given 5 stars but they have quit making beef brisket (amazing) during the winter months? Parking is usually a challenge but they have done as much as possible to expand it over the last few years (not their fault, very limited room due to their location right off a major roundabout). Good luck during summer months but their service is usually pretty good considering the crowd.

We tried this place today for the first time and were delighted! The BBQ is truly smoked pork and the fries are hand cut - Nothing greasy, just great flavors. This place should not be missed when visiting St. Simons Island. Be sure to enjoy your meal under the tent where you can watch the small planes land at the airport!

This place is small--expect to take your food to go unless you're lucky enough to get a table or seat at the bar. Food was fast and delicious!! I had a BLT and you could tell the tomato was grown in a garden. So juicy it soaked the bread! Amazing taste. My husband had the ribs and said they were excellent. Service was limited to ordering at the register and someone at the bar, but the place was hopping and we were treated well. Would definitely recommend!
