Mmmmm the Mauna Loa Chicken is delicious. Chicken is tender, sauce is perfect. The Mac salad is surprisingly flavorful; I think there’s a good helping of black pepper in there! I am totally going here again next time I’m in Salem. Huge dining area inside. Service was friendly. I got the small portion and regret not getting more hahaha.

I’ve had huli huli chicken in Hawaii, at home and couple other places and there is always something wrong with either the chicken or the rice or the Mac salad. I gave this place a 5 star bcuz not only the chicken was tasty, the rice and Mac salad was cooked to perfection! I normally find the chicken and rice to be good or a combo of Mac and chicken but never 3 combos! The chicken was soft and cooked to perfection. There is enough amount of spices that this chicken was so delicious to bite on. There are other places that chicken is either too salty or not enough salt or too much sauce. I admit I do not like Mac salad but this one, I can eat it all day. The pasta was soft enough, enough creaminess to it, salt and pepper are distributed really well. I mean it was absolutely fantastic! The rice…wow! I’m Asian and rice is important to me and this rice…I need to know where they got it 😂 A MUST place to go! I don’t like Salem but for this food…I will go weekly! And I lived an hour away from this place! Come early cuz the wait was fairly long! But it is so worth the time!

I ordered the Huli Huli Chicken yesterday and it’s great! The only “complain” I have is that there’s no other sides besides the Mac Salad and the chicken because the rice portion is a lot. I recommend that if you’re a small eater, you should share one regular sized plate with another person because that’s what I did and I’m already full! Besides the food, the “waiting” part took a long time- maybe because there’s lots of people buying from there. In summary, I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to eat big portions of rice if they’re there!

I would very much like to mention the cashier Maria at the 23st location in Salem. I went in to place a take out order and when I arrived there was a line of about 9 people. Some may think that is a lot of people in line (as I would too). However Maria handled it perfectly! I was in line for less than 5 minutes ( I mean WOW! considering it was the lunch hour). While I was waiting to order, I observed Maria getting each and every customer with a fantastic smile, asking them how there day was going as well as filling in any of the uncomfortable voids in conversation (I really wish that I had that ability). Her service didn't stop there, while waiting for my order to be prepared she continued getting all the customer's in very much the same way while never skipping any of them. Great job young lady, you and your managers should be very proud.

This was my first time here. I noticed they do not carry beef like most other Hawaiian restaurants I've been to. The side dishes they offer are already part of main entrees (rice, salad and macaroni) so that was surprising. I ended up ordering a mixed plate (Chicken and pork) but it turned out they ran out of pork. I was happy with the taste. Condiment bottles and the counter they were located at, were sticky and dirty looking. By the time I finished eating they had at least wiped down that counter.
