This is my go to Mexican place. It's a bit dumpy to look at, but the food is terrific. Fresh pickled carrots, onions and jalapenos. Home made tomatillo salsa that is amazing and home made tortillas. This is a must for anyone looking for a delicious, authentic Mexican meal.
I like this place but the customer service is bad and yea they do take a long time to get your food and I hate there drive-thru
Good value. El Grullense is on my go-to list of Mexican taquerias as much due to location as anything else, but something I always appreciate here is that you get a good value on the basics. I often order a plate of tacos "Al Pastor" and peel off a few singles to pay the bill. Today, I splurged and spent $6.95 on the chimichanga plate. It comes with beans and rice, along with sour cream, guacamole and tomatoes. They also offer self-serve canned jalapeno/carrot/onion mix to add whatever level of spiciness you'd like, plus lime wedges for the taking. In short, this was enough food for two. Most chimichangas I've consumed are a bit firmer than this one - I would have preferred mine to sit in the oil just a tad longer as the shell was a bit on the soft side. But the shredded chicken filling was good and as I was in the mood for a no-frills meal, it was fine. I'd say there's nothing extraordinary about the food, but as noted in other reviews, it's popular with Hispanic customers and the staff is friendly.
The first thing I noticed was...... Of the 25 or 30 people eating here, I was the only Gringo! Reasoning that since these folks know more about Mexican food than I could ever hope to, I had probably found some great food. Was I right? OH YEAH! I ordered their Carne Asada lunch mentally picturing a couple of double soft corn tortillas with the savory citrus marinated, shredded beef inside, beans and rice. I noticed the price was $8.25 which I though was a little steep but still, I kept and open mind. The counter person asked me if I wanted tortillas. I told her yes and immediately the young lady next to her started putting dough balls in the press. Talk about fresh! From prep to plate was less than a minute. I got my number and seated myself at a window table (which had not been wiped). I picked up my meal at the counter when called. The platter had a huge slab of beef topped with a deliciously mild grilled green pepper and grilled whole green onions plus beans, rice and chilled lettuce salad. It was fantastic! Oh, the tortillas mentioned earlier, there were four of them! (Note: they had no menu that I could take, nor did the counter person know what their hours are.) If you like authentic Mexican chow, try this place.
9/16/10 Today I tried their Pollo Asada lunch. Half a delicious chicken with beans, rice and fresh four tortillas. Fantastic. It was a lot like Jamaican Jerk Chicken, which I love and is hard to find here!
Good burrito. Nothing fancy. Prices are right. Green'ish salsa is good, not too hot good flavor.
Been eating here for years and it's ALWAYS been good food. Went threw the drive-thru and took a little longer than expected but still good food.
Well priced and delicious everytime I visit! I suggest the asada fries if it's your first time and you're unsure of what to try first!
Only got food from the drive thru but I ordered the 2 taco combo and it comes with rice and beans for $7. The tacos had a lot of meat on them and I thought the food tasted fresh and you can’t beat a deal like that. Will totally be returning to try more items.
