The food is really good here. It looks like they take time and make sure an item is done right before putting it on the menu. The beer offerings were decent and they have a nice selection of mixed drinks.
The location of this quaint restaurant is sublime. It’s nestled in the middle of the avenues close to LDS hospital. We were hoping to sit outside in the patio but the weather didn’t cooperate. Inside was a rustic industrial feel and a little dark. Ordered biscuit appetizer, French toast with a side of eggs and the frittata.
The biscuits were over cooked and has a crunchy outside, the jam was amazing, French toast looked soo pretty on the plate, however it was a little chewy, the scrambled eggs weren’t cooked all the way through but was replaced with new eggs, and the frittata was filling and great.
All in all it wasn’t superior by any means the atmosphere was great though.
Okay so we tried to go to Avenue’s Proper three times & finally got in!!! No wait on a Thursday night, which was fortunate. We sat on the bar side. Our waitress was great, very helpful & attentive. We tried a few cocktails: The Proper Daily & the Pomegranate Margarita. Both were really good! I always love me a good margarita! We grabbed two appetizers, the Pommes Frites (basics fries) with the best proper beer aioli sauce!! It was delicious! We also tried the brussel sprouts. For some reason in my head, these were not going to be shredded, even though the menu is clear that they are. The dried cherries were a great touch to this appetizer. Food wise, I didn’t feel like they had great vegetarian options except like a veggie burger or a salad. I ended up getting the carbonara pasta, minus the bacon. The pepper was really strong & overwhelming for me with this dish. My friend wanted salmon but with Valentine’s Day a few days before we went, they were fresh out of both the fish & chips & the Atlantic salmon option so he opted for the chicken & waffles which ended up being really good. We also had a puddling type coffee dessert. I can’t remember what it was called & it was okay but I probably wouldn’t get it again. There was a jello texture to the middle layer. It was different. I was more excited to try this place, then I felt leaving. It was cute & I’m glad I got to try it with all the hype I hear about it.
Avenues Proper was a wonderful restaurant. I got the Steak Frites and it was good. I’ve gotten the Avenues Proper Burger in the past and they make one incredible hamburger. The bibimbap was very tasty and is a dish not found at many restaurants. Our server was nice and we really enjoyed the overall experience.
What a great experience! Made reservation for Mother's day brunch, glad I did! The staff were amazing, super energetic and happy to see us. The service was very attentive. The dishes were beyond amazing, even pleased the pallets of my teenagers! Thank you for help making a great Mothers day!
I don't have photos of the weekend brunch food that we've had but we've been here 5+ times and had great experiences every time. The staff is professional and attentive. We have always been correctly quoted for wait times. This is the beef stroganoff and the parisian gnocchi from the dinner menu! SO good and so filling!!!
*If you order something from the menu that includes mushrooms, it will not disappoint. I don't know where they get them but they are incredible!
Great mimosas. Good brunch. Atmosphere was nice. Service was good. We expected a larger crowd, but the place was pretty quiet.
I've been coming here for years, favorite brunch place (and maybe even restaurant) in all of Salt Lake. I've never ordered anything I didn't absolutely love. Everything is SOOO delicious, and the weekend brunch with mimosas are to die for. The food is rich which is exactly my palate. My only complaint is they change the menu! I miss the breakfast nachos and Pork City sandwich! But also, every item I try is delightful, so that's how you know it's a good restaurant. And the chef has made exceptions to off-menu items for me before, the service has always been awesome like that. Also one time a few years ago I came here two days in a row with two different tinder dates. I had the same waitress both times and she played it cool, she didn't out me at all and when we made initially made eye contact I could tell she respected the game.
I’ve been a guests & customer to avenues proper for over 5-6 years now & from my first visit to current times it remains one of my favorite places to visit during brunch hours. The employees have always been respectful, patient, & again respectful! Although I was heart broken to find out that the meal I’ve ate from the start to now is now off the menu.. the brisket & hash. I was devastated to find out it was no longer being served so although my review remains a 5 star rating (and I mean it) I hope this makes a difference in the decision of the business owner to bring back the brisket hash! There’s no better brisket elsewhere comparable to the Avenues proper one! Bring it back please lol !
First time here and it was delicious! I had their chicken & waffles, stuffed french toast, and fries. Each dish was better than the next and I left very full and very satisfied. The chicken and waffles were no better or worse than other places I’ve been, the stuffed french toast was SO good (probably my favorite), and the fries were crispy and seasoned just right. The staff were pleasant and accommodating, the place was clean, and the wait was worth it. ps while we waited to be seated, we just went across the street to the small park and enjoyed being outside.
I very much enjoyed the atmosphere and food at this restaurant and will definitely be back in the future.
Loved this place. The steak was very flavorful, good quality with creative seasoning. Oysters, pickled vegetables and garlic toast were all really good. Romantic atmosphere. The Valentines day dessert was terrible, good thing it's not on the everyday menu.
Wow! The food was wonderful. Perfectly seasoned and expertly prepared. Decent portion sizes. The appetizers and main dishes were great but make sure you save room for the churro bowl dessert, it sounds simple but I challenge you not to inhale it after the first bite. Foodgasm!
We had a bigger birthday group lunch here and the food did not disappoint. The sunshine burger was one of the best Burger's I've ever had and the fries were excellent as well. Our server, Max was awesome and attentive despite our large size and made everyone feel welcome. His partner server was also lovely (I don't remember her name but I want to say Millie?). The menu was concise and everyone enjoyed their meal. Will be visiting again!
I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. Not sure why it took us this long? Everything we tried was delicious!!! The Traeger brisket and the potatoes that came with it was to die for. The stuffed French toast was delicious and I would say it is for sure for someone that has a sweet tooth. Even their cranberry juice was amazing. We will for sure be coming back here again. We came around 9:30 am on a Saturday and it was empty which is great for SLC. Highly recommend! 10/10
Cool place that offers fresh food and drinks in an inviting atmosphere. Food was fresh prepared and cooked to order. Cocktails were made with fresh ingredients. Service was adequate and friendly. Solid brunch spot that is fun and inviting. Ample on street parking.
I love the location! Nothing beats the avenues in my opinion. Setting was great, perfect date spot, beer was good, and the fries were awesome! I love trying a burger from each restaurant I go to at least once if possible. I was let down with this one, presentation is great, but it lacked in flavor, a little bland for me.
