Em's is located in a quiet neighborhood up by the capital. The setting is quiet and private for the most part. I had the beef tenderloin and it was fantastic, my wife's first choice was baked risotto chicken which sold out so she settled for the New York strip, the flavor and tenderness was not as good as it could have been. The staff was kind and courteous.

Em's is a quaint little café that had a warm and inviting atmosphere. The building itself was older in style, but that made it all the better. The food was good, though the menu wasn't extensive. The service was great and helpful. The coffee was self serve, which was nice when we wanted a refill. The portion sizes were appropriate for a Sunday brunch, and left us satisfied. Great place to visit and eat!

I spent a weekend in close proximity to this place; I'm really happy I had the chance to visit Em's on multiple occasions that weekend. The food is excellent. Someone knows what they are doing in their kitchen. I feel that the quality of the ingredients, the size of the dishes, and the price are perfectly alligned. I thought the service was good as well. I will definitely return.

I stumbled across Em's by accident, but was drawn in by the sunny dining room and enticing menu. I found the service I received from the waitress consistent with other reviewers; there were piles of dishes covering several of the other tables that remained where they were during my entire visit, and though I was the only diner in the restaurant (they turned away two girls who walked in 2min after I sat down because the kitchen had closed in that time), the service was slow and the waitress never checked it with me to confirm that everything was right, or to see if/when I needed the bill (I ended up walking up to the counter to request it, which seemed to perturb her). The kitchen staff, by contrast, were quick, friendly, gracious and generous, and the food was excellent. I paid $12.95 before tip for a glass of grapefruit juice ($2) and a savoury crepe with eggs and veggies ($10.95). I'd go back, and I'd recommend it (with a caveat about the front-end service).

The food is great, with creative yet simple dishes and fresh ingredients. I had the blueberry and pistachio salad for a starter and braised short rib for my main course. Delicious. Great atmosphere; cozy room with outdoor seating spring through fall. Stroll around the capitol building afterwards.

Had an overall good experience here. Love the atmosphere. We went for brunch on Sunday and had a relaxing stay. We still haven't been here for dinner, but the full bar and food selection looks great. Talked to either the owner or head chef on the phone for a bit and he seemed knowledgeable and engaged. I recommend checking this lovely little place out.

We had brunch at the newly opened Day Room side of Em's. The food was really well done--good mix of sweet and savory items and portions were not overbearing. We sat on the warm sunny cafe side, but the lighting during brunch hours is so inviting throughout Em's. Pleasant wait staff and a nice addition to Em's nighttime fare. We will be back.

We got the short ribs and beef tenderloin, both of which were fantastic. Potato pancakes we're a great appetizer. Food was excellent. No complaints about the service. Definitely a good place to swing by in downtown SLC

Wonderful little place! I love the atmosphere and the delightfully dated 90s menu. I can only give 4 stars for our visit this evening because we got stuck at a table in a wierd converted coffee shop side room. I much prefer the room with windows. Food was great, as always.

We went to Em's last night. I felt bad because we came in about 20 minutes before closing, but they were so great. Its funny reading these other reviews about bad service, because we had amazing service! Our waiter was awesome, we never felt rushed, even when we were the last people in the restaurant. We spent a decent amount of money, but it was well worth it. We tried the lamb, duck, beef tenderloin, and gnochi. All were wonderful. We will definitely be back.

My wife loves Em's Restaurant. It is truly a great place for any guy to take his gal because the food is good but the ambiance is important to the ladies. I believe that Em's locally sources everything, and because I am a big supporter of local goods and services that is important to me. The quality is exceptional and you will likely meet interesting people there if you are one to talk with the tables around you. I remember parking being a pain but I don't know if that is because I don't know where to park or if there is not really much parking available.

Great atmosphere and great food. Indoor-outdoor seating, next to a barista.

The atmosphere is comfortable casual. Service is excellent and the food, is as good as it gets. Their New York steak with blue cheese was a perfect medium rare as per my request.

Upscale, casual, friendly, artsy, and delicious! Fine dining that is fun and accessible. Unique and interesting offerings cooked to perfection in a visually engaging, comfortable setting. Oh, and Em's is integrated with Alchemy Coffee right next store. Had their coffee at breakfast ... also fantastic!
