Reviews Shawarma King

Initially I was hesitant in trying this place, but hands down this is the best Middle Eastern restaurant in town! The waiter was prompt in seating us, taking our order, and delivering our food. We ordered the King Mix and Lamb Kabsa, and they were absolutely delicious. The portion was filling, and most importantly the quality of the food was superb. I highly recommend the King Mix, as you get to sample all their meats selection. The Lamb Kabsa came with a juicy lamb shank, and aromatic kabsa spiced rice. We will definitely be returning, and trying other items on the menu. Update: I'm updating my review, after coming here a couple more times, since my previous 5 star review. In short, the food is still amazing, but their service sucks! We walked in and saw nobody to seat us, the place looked pretty empty (one table had customer, and another leaving), so we decided to seat ourselves. It seems like every time we come here, there's a different server, and they aren't any better than the last. One of the server came by to our table and gave us menus, as we told her, we already know what we want. She said she'll come back to take our order, but never did. A couple walked in, and sat themselves. Another waitress came by their table, and gave them menus. While they were settling in and ready to order, their waitresses came back and took their order, while we're still sitting her waiting to order. We decided to go up to the front and order, instead of sitting here waiting for them, or we'd never get our food from past experience. We decide to move to a bigger table closer to the front, being more visible to them. The customer that came after us, received their order before us. After some time of waiting, our appetizers started to come. We ordered the 4 appetizer sampler (Hummus, Flavored Eggplant, Baba Ghanoush, and Falafel), and only 3 of them came. Midway eating our appetizer, I ask her if the other appetizer (Falafel) was coming. One of the waitresses didn't know, and the other tells her they're out of Falafel. So they ran out of Falafel, and didn't bother telling us. Nor ask us to swap it with another appetizer from the list. Just completely ignored it and didn't give us any option (they charged us for 4 appetizer, but only gave us 3). We see the chef bring out our King Mix and place it in front of both waitresses. Both waitresses were standing there flirting with some guy, while our food was getting cold right in front of them. We just sit there looking at our food on the counter, and contemplated if we should just get up and get the food ourselves, just like how we went up and ordered. After couple of minutes or so, I kid you not, one of the waitress got startled realizing our food was in front of her. It was like it fell from the sky inf front of her. She picks up our food, and continues to talk. Finally she gives us the food, cold as expected. No utensils to eat the food, no napkins, nor the usual garlic sauces that comes with the platter. The food didn't come with the usual grilled jalapenos that comes with it either. We ask for utensils (plates, forks, etc.), and sauces. After a couple of minutes, she brings us the utensils, and one sauce for both of us. We didn't enjoy our cold food. We overheard the waitress charging the other customer for an appetizer they ordered, but the customer never received! It's unfortunate that this is our favorite restaurant in Salt Lake City, but the service sucks! After countless bad service, we decided to never dine in, and just order food for take out. Please improve your service by hiring servers that knows what they're doing!

I love this place! Especially the chicken shawarma wrap, fresh clean and super tasty. I know how hummus need to be and taste, compering to real Middle East hummus this is the real deal. Defiantly great hummus! Obviously will go there again and again and again...

With more than 116 reviews, 75 thousand plus reviews views, more than 4 million photo views and a master photographer badge, Please like the review if you find it helpful. It seems that the name has changed to Ishtar from shawarma King. I tried the qouuzy dish. That's a large chunk of lamb cooked slowly and it's served with rice toped with raisins and nuts. The taste was super nice and tenderly cooked. This dish is more like home and catering cooking. Not common in menus. It comes with lamb soup which is very heavy and not for all tastes. We also tried some salads, and yogurt sauce. Backlava for dessert was freshly made to perfection. You and I need to cone back and try the rest of the menu. Rise cooks are not kidding around.

Delicious 😋! Super friendly and helpful staff. Food was flavorful and perfectly prepared. Been there twice in less than a week lol. Just moved here from NM and I'm in love with yet another great restaurant here in beautiful SLC. I tried the combo platters to get a taste of as much as possible and it was all amazing. Can't wait to get back!

We got the king's plate. Food was really good. The rice was pretty plain, though. We also got a lassi, AMAZING. Fries were good, but the fry sauce was better.

Like family! The waiter became my brother the more he fed me. The meal was amazing. Shawarma, kebabs, hummus, the rice, everything was delicious. It was too good to take a picture of.

This place is amazing. Great people, amazing hospitality and the food is the best Middle Eastern in western regions of theUS. I have been on a road trip started in Missouri to Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Los Angeles, San Francisco, back to Nevada, and finally I arrived in Salt Lake City and ate in Shawarma King. This place had the best food by far among any Middle Eastern restaurant I tried along my route. Come and check this place.

as a Syrian-American, I can vouch for how authentic & fresh the Mediterranean food is. the flavors were amazing and on point, & the place felt very clean. do know though that it is a family-run restaurant, so the atmosphere is more relaxed than it is professional. however, the service was fast and friendly, highly recommend!

No complaints whatsoever about the food it was delicious, mouthwatering, tasty, palatable, amazing and phenomenal. However, I was mostly impressed by the attitude of the owner. As I am standing outside waiting on my food to go, the owner stepped outside and saw a woman and his son sitting by the bus stop. He asked them if they were hungry, the rest of the story is not witnessed almost anywhere in today’s society. I felt like I was living a fable and almost cried over the tenderness and lightheartedness of the owner of Shawarma King. Thank you for feeding the poor and may God reward your pure and soft heart.
