Our family loves Rio de Gelato! Stopping there is a MUST every time we go downtown. The gelato is, hands down, the most delicious I have ever tried. It is so fresh and the flavors are so vibrant! If you go for the gelato, you may as well try the pizza and coffee too. The coffee is authentic, imported Italian coffee, so rich and flavorful! And the pizza! It is wonderful too! The crust is simple and soft with a slightly crisp bottom, which doesn't overshadow the toppings (like greasy fast food pizza crust tends to do). And if the wonderful food and coffee weren't enough, the owner, Alfredo, is simply the kindest, most genuine person around.
Just went in for the first time this past weekend with my friends - we LOVED it. Words cannot describe the amazing experience we had here! The owner, Alfredo, is a kind man who cares a lot about the food he makes. He sold us on a delicious margherita pizza to share, and we loved every bite - the freshest basil and tomato I have ever had on a pizza. After, he was happy to have us try all of the DELICIOUS gelato his son had made. All of them were equally delightful and made the experience so much better. Even if you don't have time to stop in and eat a whole pizza (which you should), at least stop in for the amazing gelato and Alfredo's fun stories and jokes. I can't wait to come back!
My best friends and I decided to have lunch at this place and the pizza was AMAZINGLY good, the manager and the staff was so friendly!!!! This older man I forgot his name but he was the sweetest omg and the ice creat is even sweeter! We loved this place it our "spot" now, great pizza place!
This is easily the best pizza in town...And the best pizza I've had. There isn't anything like it! Service is always great, and the food has always been wonderful! I just finished eating my pizza from today, and I'm already planning when I'm going to go back for another!
Our family loved the pepperoni pizzas and margherita pizza and the gelato was the best we've ever had. Alfredo was very pleasant even though we walked in 10 minutes before closing and we were a party of 9. The atmosphere was awesome we tell everyone about this place and we definitely will return.
Rio de gelato is such a cool find. Alfredo Pisano and son Richard are wonderful hosts and cook up a mean pizza and dessert. For now bring your own wine and beer but he will be getting his beer and wine permit soon.

Very good pizza. I happened to catch Alfredo the owner giving some customers their pizza at their table and he was just as friendly as could be. The atmosphere is nice and the sites are great too. It was a great ending to our family night out.
This place was absolutely wonderful!!! We tried the pizza (best I've had in the U.S!), the coffee, the tiramisu, and the gelato-- all amazing! We also had a great visit with the owner-- he is an incredibly kind, hospitable host. We will definitely be coming back here next time we are in San Antonio, and we highly recommend it!
My family loves the Pizza, Gelato and Iced coffee. Alfredo (Owner) is very friendly and engaged in a conversation with us.We're from Austin and for the past 3 years we've gone down to the Riverwalk for The New Years Celebration. If you're in the area make sure to stop by Rio De Gelato for a bite to eat and some coffee.
One of the best handmade pizzas ever! We were volunteering for NIOSA and took a break for a quick bite I have seen for the past several years and this time we stopped by. We finished the whole thing. Will definitely stop by again

This place is the real deal! Amazing pizza the gelato was delicious! I had never had a cannoli in my life and I'm so glad I had my first here! One of my favorite places of all time!
