There is no doubt that the menu is great as a short-order diner! Dean and his staff are friendly and efficient. The prices are most reasonable and the coupon for buy-one-get-one-free offers great value. The seafood platter is my favorite while my wife likes the snapper. The corn bread rocks! Thanks for so many years of great food and service!
Haven't been here for a long time. Got the fried shrimp which was great. Butter beans could have used more seasoning. Sanora casserole was good but a tad spicy. Fresh iced tea. Server was great. Kept our glasses full and always made sure we had what we needed. Played great 50's music. Would recommend.
Finally remembered to try this place and we were not disappointed. In the food anyway, the waitress was sloppily chewing gum and it was extremely displeasing. The staff didn't look all that happy to be there but they were friendly and pretty attentive. Not a whole lot of diverse selection but there was enough. I had the chicken fried steak with Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and while the potatoes were a good creamy and the chicken fried steak was really good and perfectly breaded, the Mac and cheese was too bland. BL had chicken fried chicken with corn and mashed potatoes, the corn was not overdone and the fried chicken breast was juicy and tender. They only had cornbread or sliced wheat to offer so we had the cornbread and it was pretty good. The kids had chicken fingers with peas and a hotdog with fries. The peas were undercooked but E didn't really care and L just wanted mustard and ketchup to finish his meal so that was good. Definitely putting this on our eating out roster. Except the gum chewing waitress, it was so gross.
This place is a true favorite! Everything I've had, including the Sonora casserole, the BLT, the veggie plate and the trout, had been consistently fantastic! Great atmosphere and friendy service every time.
A geriatric throwback to the times of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe. The menu is concise with diner favorites. My chopped steak with queso was straightforward and tasty. My wife's cheeseburger was standard. The sides were disappointing. Service was efficient.
This is yet another wonderful restaurant we were introduced to in San Antonio. Great atmosphere and great food are to be found here.
We stopped by for dinner on a Sunday evening with some friends. There was a good crowd enjoying their meals. We were seated promptly by friendly wait staff.
410 Diner is much more than a burger joint. They have a diverse menu with reasonable prices.
For an appetizer, we ordered the fried mushroom, zucchini, and cheese sticks. I rarely eat fried, but this appetizer was not greasy at all and quite good. As for our main meals, my partner ordered the sliced roast tenderloin, while I ordered the grilled chicken California. Both were well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. I say these are gourmet meals at diner prices.
Love the veggies! Very good chicken fried steak and salmon dishes.
LOVE this place. Used to eat here weekly when I worked nearby. Just about evrything here is delicious but I don't recommend the burgers. My favorite is the fried shrimp--plentiful & delicious. Fried pork chops are awesome too. Veggies are fresh not canned
Best salmon in town. Went to the 410 Diner after a friend recommended it and cannot wait to return. I ordered the salmon with a side cornbread and dill rice. It was one of the best meals I've had in a while. Great quality food for a low price. Friendly service and a fun atmosphere too. 5 out of 5 stars.
Great food. Great service. Great prices. Great atmosphere. A delicious and fun dining experience! Plus the key lime pie was out of this world! We will be returning ASAP!
Kind owner! Went in for lunch with a special order request and the owner did not hesitate to tweak my order with a smile on his face. The food here is outstanding and the service is unforgettably great. On any given visit the owner can be seen walking around the dining room laughing and chatting with guests. He really takes the time to make a personal connection with his customers and make them feel at home! If only more restaurants these days were run with this same good attitude and warm heart that the owner of the 410 diner has!
WOW! Went after a friend, who has been a loyal customer for 20 years, recommended it. Needless to say, I was blown away! I had the chicken fried steak, which I had seen in Texas Monthly, and a side of fresh green beans. The c.f.s. was cooked to perfection, even better than mom's, and the veggies were to die for. The owner was so kind, friendly and funny and the service was stellar! We will surely be returning soon!
Simple & Familiar. Everything comes full circle, doesn't it? Growing up in the south, the menu at 410 Diner is full of all the things I grew up eating. Chicken livers, peel & eat shrimp (my Moms fave), chopped steak with onions & gravy (my Dads fave), chicken fried steak (my fave), catfish, just to name a few. I know most of these things really aren't all that healthy, but I do love them so. 410 cooks most of these items right, and simply put, charges a fair price for them.
The atmosphere is like a place my Dad took us to a lot as a kid - comfortably worn in, with the true nostalgic diner feel, so I'm comfortable here among the 50's paraphernalia, the high back booths, the neon, and the mostly retired clientele.
Service is more modern, and while efficient, I long for the more personal hard & fast ladies that used to really work these places and knew how to make them hum, so service here can be a little slow, but my foods always been brought out fresh & hot.
I think some of us would like to believe that these types of places are fading into the past, but every time I eat here, it's packed, and it's pretty large place, so I don't think it's going anywhere soon. And I'm glad it's not, because as I get older I tend to lean more towards simpler and familiar, which 410 offers up in big heaping spoonfuls.

CooooooooooooooooooooooL. I was hesitant to hit the "I Like It" button with the 410 Diner, but I did it anyway, since the 'good' outdid the 'bad.'
The appetizer (chips and queso) was FAIR, as the chips were a little salty and seasoned with some reddish spice that I could not identify.
I ordered an entree of chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and french fries (since I HATE eating healthy). The chicken fried steak was cooked well, there wasn't an over-abundance of breading in relation to the steak, and the mashed potatoes and french fries were decent enough. Perhaps my only complaint was the flavor (or lack thereof) of the cream gravy on the steak, as it seemed a bit flavorless, to be honest.
Other than that, the meal was decent, and I would definitely pay another visit to the establishment to see what else on the menu can tickle my fancy.
Final Verdict: 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Survey says.......(drum roll).......my ass hurts.
410 Diner. A place with a old fashion feel with the interior to match. Every time we come here the place seems to have more of a older clientele. But overall the food is great and haven't had a bad experience!
Not bad. Good, solid diner food. Nothing high class or refined by any stretch, and I would say that it is slightly overpriced, but it is good and I will return.
Love It!!!. The grilled chicken artichoke is fantastic. Love the cornbread and service is fine.
Good Lunch. Enjoyed my well seasoned roast beef and gravy with potatoes. (little less liquid in potatoes needed though). The place is clean, good service. My husband enjoyed his sandwhich as well. Only problem I saw was ice cold bathrooms. :-)
We think it was wise for the owner to let people know they would get towed for parking next door.
Awesome, cozy place. I had one of the best steaks I've ever had in the NY strip. The side salad was very fresh too. A second time I went I got a Cajun dish, which was very salty. While I would not get that again, I'd return for sure. Great service and great cornbread! One negative - you could smell some smoke coming from the separate smoking area.
Large selection!. In addition to their menu, check out the caulkboard specials and the loooooooooong list of veggies. HUGE SELECTION!!! They also offer a 3 or 5 veggie platter. Basic home cooking here - nothing fancy or gourmet!!! Enjoyed a excellent piece of rhubarb pie - now that's something that is not easy to find in SA!!!
Great club sandwich, and the onion rings make my top 10 list!
-The Surrounding-. The foods filling, but whats really cool is the 50's decorations all around the resturant! Who knew so much memorabilia could be displayed in one place.
Atmosphere is great by far the best among it's competetors. The cornbread with honey is a nice touch to this home cooking establishment. The food is about what u'd expect the veggies were plentiful, overall a great place for lunch and well worth the price
Good Normal Food with large Veg List. This place looks like an old diner and serves the kind of food your mom cooked back in the 60's and 70's plus a few newer items like blackend chicken, etc. Everyday there is a long list of vegetables to pick from. Good cornbread served with your meal.
We went while on vacation in the area. Later we found out that this restaurant was on diners and drive ins. However we had an amazing experience! 50s style atmosphere, lots of pictures and things from the 50s. Elvis and everything!! As a massive Elvis fan, I was so happy. We both ordered the chicken fried steak dinner and it was so delicious, the size was amazing and it was so delicious! Our waitress was extremely sweet and always checked on us and you could tell extremely experienced! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Great atmosphere. Decent food. Nothing really special. Restaurant has been there for 40 years. Seems pricey. Nice staff. Neat lil restaurant with the old pictures and signs. Nest place to visit. Plenty of food. You'll get full. Deserts are good as well.
Had the Bacon Wrapped Tenderloin with Broccoli and Salad w/thousand Island dressing. The Meatloaf, the Day special with mashed potatoes and salad. 410 Diner is a great place. I just picked the wrong dinner...The Meatloaf... was mushy... No texture whatsoever. Brown gravy and mashed potatoes was great. Easy on the "tomatoes"...your house salad. Your Thousand Island dressing was wonderful but next time I have to try your homemade Ranch. Chocolate Cake w/ Ice Cream was good. Will have to come back for the Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed potatoes and Salad w/Ranch dressing. :-)
This place is delicious & super inexpensive!!! We had the chicken fried steak, and boy was it good! The 1950’s atmosphere was great and our waitress was awesome. This is straight down home delicious food! Do yourself a favor and eat here!
My wife and I stumbled across this restaurant and had an okay experience here. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating. We ordered a chicken fried steak, pork chops, and a strawberry milkshake. They were all delicious! The only downside were the sides. They either lacked seasoning or they tasted funny. I don’t know why but the mashed potatoes and beans tasted sour. Our waitress was happy to exchange these sides for something else, which we are thankful for.
Went with a big group of ladies and had a wonderful time! Everyone raved about their dinner. I can confirm that the fried shrimp is absolutely delicious! Portions are very generous. A wide choice of sides. Reasonable prices, friendly service, and fun diner atmosphere. And the dessert menu... oh my! Come hungry.
My first time at 410 Diner.....Fried snapper was delicious so we're the mashed potatoes. Burger (or the bun) was too sweet and not cooked medium rare. Chicken fried steak was good. Wasn't fond of the cornbread because it was dry but so glad it didn't actually have corn in it the way some people make it.
Love the decor and service was quick for a busy restaurant. I thought we would be waiting a while for the food to come out, but was pleasantly surprised that it was quick to get to the table.
Took my granddaughter and son for the first time. Great atmosphere, we love the retro vibe, pictures of all the late greats, Marilyn, Elvis, James Dean and the great cars of that era. A wonderful variety of food, from burgers to excellent salmon. One of the best margaritas too. A little pricey from my standpoint but we loved it. Entrees start at about$12.
The restaurant is located in an original building. It has a nice quiet, 50’s atmosphere with easy listening music of the era. It has an extensive menu so your options a numerous. I had the grilled chicken topped with artichokes mushroom and lemon butter sauce. It was delicious. There’s many options for side dishes, and all of them seem very appetizing. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the place and the nice decorations on the walls. I will definitely plan to come back with some friends that are appreciative this kind of dinner.
Oh my God. I had the best hotdog of my life. I needed to know which cook served me this big juicy dog. It was so big. I asked the waitress and she said Joseph has the biggest. I'm going to ask for Joseph every time. He serves it up 11/10
This is one of my favorite restaurants in SA, it's like reading vintage menus on reddit. They have butter beans. Who has that anymore? Great food, good service.
A cute diner with all the diner flair. The food was good. The menu is huge, a lot to chose from. There is extra parking behind the diner, which is great because it gets really busy during the lunch hour. Make sure you have time for your dining experience here. Due to the large lunch crowd, you can be forgotten or passed by. This is not a quick bite place, but if you're looking for a chicken fried steak kinda meal, this is your place!
Amazing experience, it was my first time here and the parking lot was full of cars! Bt we got fast service and they sat us quick. Food was delicious 🤤 . My daughters bday is coming up so or family friend told us about 410 diner so we had to try it. We are definitely returning!
410 Diner is great! Their Chicken Fried Steak is just the right size, not too big and not too little. They have an amazing selection of sides and veggies. For all you vegetarians, great place to get a variety of sides; 3 veg plate, 4 veg plate or a 5 veg plate.
1 pound burger is great, thank you to Kennedy for showing it to us!
