Reading other reviews - I definitely didn't get complimentary chips and salsa. In fact, I had to ask for some salsa with my meal. The meal was huge, and I only ate about half of it, and it was good, but I've had better Mexican food. The views of the river and the atmosphere was great though. If you like eating outside you need to do it here for sure.
The food is good. You can ask for river walk view table for food. Felt the food is bit expensive. The service is good. Don’s expect free nachos and salsa as we usually get in restaurants. They charges nachos for charge. They serve several beverages and drinks. I had sweet tea. They also have several desserts. I had churros.
This is such a great place! The vibe at San Antonio Riverwalk, combined with great authentic Mexican food is the best! The salsa was so fresh! Wait times were not bad at all - even when we went for a Saturday evening dinner. Service was quick, recommendations were fantastic! Margaritas are very good too! Had a great time here! Will definitely visit again!
I had the pleasure of dining at Cassa Rio restaurant on the San Antonio river walk and it was an unforgettable experience. The combination of excellent food and a wonderful atmosphere right on the river walk made for a delightful evening. The staff at Casa Rio especially Margaret, deserves special mention, as they were absolutely phenomenal in their service, making us feel welcomed and well taken care of throughout our visit.
The outdoor seating added to the charm of the restaurant, allowing us to enjoy the beautiful river view while savoring our meal. The menu offered a diverse range of options, and the food itself was of exceptional quality. Every dish we tried was delicious and well-prepared.
Casa Rio has truly created a great overall dining experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the San Antonio river walk. It's the perfect place to unwind, enjoy a fantastic meal, and soak in the serene ambiance by the river.
We sat outside, and we had great service! The food was so good!! The Agua Fresca was definitely fresh & delicious. Order it! Come here! The food is delicious, priced well & they serve you plenty! Fresh flour tortillas too! We had a great server, I was concerned because we were sitting outside on the Riverwalk, but he did not forget about us!!
We had a great time there. There is a wait time most of the time, but it's for a reason. It's worth the wait. Food was served fast and taste really good. Their margaritas are a good price and taste good. We had a great server. While you wait, you can walk around the Riverwalk and order some drinks from their bar.
Casa Rio's menu boasts a wide selection of Mexican dishes that tantalize the taste buds. The dishes were expertly prepared, showcasing fresh ingredients and the chef's attention to detail. I particularly enjoyed the rich and savory flavors of the enchiladas and soft tacos, complemented by the perfect balance of spices and seasonings.
Another aspect that impressed me was the quick and prompt service provided by the restaurant's attentive staff. From the moment our large group stepped through the doors, we were warmly greeted and guided to my table. The staff members were efficient in taking orders, and the food was brought to the table promptly. It was evident that the restaurant prioritized customer satisfaction.
The restaurant's location right on the River Walk added an extra charm to the overall ambiance. The picturesque surroundings, combined with the vibrant atmosphere of Casa Rio, created an inviting and enjoyable environment. It was a treat to dine alongside the tranquil waters in the lively spirit of San Antonio.
While my experience at Casa Rio was positive, there was one aspect that slightly detracted from the overall enjoyment. There was a gentleman who approached our table, who took our photos and afterward sell them to us. This unexpected encounter created a brief moment of awkwardness and interrupted the flow of our meal. Though understandable from a business perspective, it would have been preferable to enjoy a more uninterrupted and relaxed dining experience without the added pressure of purchasing photos.
In conclusion, Casa Rio provides a delectable journey into Mexican cuisine with their tasty dishes, efficient service, and prime location along the River Walk. I wholeheartedly recommend Casa Rio to locals and visitors alike who are looking for a memorable dining experience in San Antonio.
Great food and a unique experience to eat on a riverwalk, if you eat outside. The view is great. As long as you stay near your food, the birds won't get it. It's interesting to watch the birds go after food once people leave.
Went for lunch and was waited on by Justin. He provided us with outstanding customer service, he was very polite and had a great attitude with very positive vibes. The food came and I was pleased with the presentation and it was delicious. I recommend this place to anyone who is downtown looking for great Mexican food with an even better atmosphere. Enjoy!
Went to Casa Rio on Thursday and had a very pleasant lunch. It’s wasn’t overcrowded and loud and the service was great. It really felt like we were walking into a family owned place and that was refreshing, considering they’re on the Riverwalk.
We were sat immediately and were able to place our order within a few minutes. The food came out pretty fast and it was so good. Also, when they bring you chips/salsa, each person gets their own serving of salsa. Highly recommend this restaurant and I’ve been to couple out here in the past. This place is by far the best service we have received from a restaurant on the Riverwalk.
We shared great food, fellowship, and fun tonight at Casa Rio. Even though the holiday crowd was heavy, our party of six was seated promptly! Bella, our server, was awesome and the food was very good. The Chile lime vinaigrette dressing on my guacamole was amazing. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience.
This place has good food. Came to enjoy the river view. The atmosphere was great, as well as the service. I had the flautas they were very delicious. I also had a sangria which was not as great. Overall it was good.
Our server, Jacob, was really nice and took very good care of us. The food was so so at best. Not the best Mexican food I've had and a bit disappointing for San Antonio. At least the prices are reasonable.
Never been disappointed here. In 30+ years.
You SHOULD likely expect to be disappointed by a place on the Riverwalk that could easily be dismissed as a "tourist trap".
Casa Rio is NOT that place. If not excellent, WELL above average.
They have been here for a very long time for a very good reason.
We were seating underneath the colorful umbrellas directly beside the river. The river tour boats passing by, the colors of the lights, umbrellas and surroundings played a beautiful role in the atmosphere. The service was not the best I’ve ever had but still quality. The food was the real star though. I had the green chicken enchiladas and the tomatillo sauce was the best I’ve ever had. The perfect tanginess/acidity to pair with the rice and beans. Every bite was a delight.
