Man, it's a hot one, Like seven inches from the midday sun - a portion of the lyrics from the Santana song Smooth.
Yesterday was so hot it felt like the heat and humidity pulled the starch completely out of my button up shirt. I had just finished cleaning up a bit at my office and I needed something to cool me off. A sugar laden ice cold fountain soda wouldn't do it. Neither would an ice cream cone. I wanted something refreshing and healthy. That's when it hit me. A fruit cup.
I pointed my dependable beater truck in the direction of Las Nievas just around 6pm and once there took my place in a fairly quick moving line of customers. I ordered a medium fruit cup, complete with freshly squeezed lime juice and topped with chili powder. Cost? $4!!!
The contrasts of tastes and textures from the various fruits in the cup really hit the spot. Fresh pineapple, mango, watermelon and more. I took a seat next to their Sasquatch statue and enjoyed every bit.
I like the idea that I avoided high calorie alternatives for something so healthy, fresh and delicious. It was a really good deal for the amount I spent.
Who did I see? Lots of fit people, couples on dates, families with kids in tow and me.

I love this place!!! When we found it let me say we went one day and went the next afterwards. It's definitely our to go to place to go get our corn in a cup my daughters just love this place. My husband just came back from being away for a year and the girls first place they wanted to take him was to Las Nieves to get corn in a cup. :)
I would say this place is the best in San Antonio....way better than slushy king!

Best place I've ever gone to for shaved ice and the prices are really great. My favorite was the corn in the cup it was so delicious!! Can't wait to go again sometime!! Service is fast as well!!

What can I say? It is always Awesome! I have enjoyed this establishment for more than 17 yrs. and It is always packed with people who have found the fountain of youth!

This place is really fantastic π for a quick and inexpensive snack in the summer time ππ (or really, for any time of the year) ππ! My sister introduced this gem π of a place to me this past June π!
We got the fruit cups π π π₯ and the corn π½ in a cup, which were very refreshing π on a hot summer day π! Absolutely dee-lish π! There is plenty of parking and plenty of seating, which allows for a really casual ambiance. There are even miniature chairs and tables for kids π! The employees are really friendly, courteous and helpful π! We will definitely come back for more π!
Best Mexican shaved ice in all the land. I domt know how they make it but itβs amazing. I got the mango loco with extra chili on top and it was a great combo. Iβve never been disappointed with any of their flavors.
These nieves taste so good. I tried the chamoy nieve and it was good but trying for the first time it was too tartie, I preferred the coconut nieve and the mango nieve. Overall itβs a great place to have a good treat.
I love how proud they are of their faith π Also, how clean and colorful everything is. Nachos has plenty of cheese and waiting time was not bad at all despite the long line
Took my kids there one evening after not having gone in a very long time and they have grown a lot. Some of my kids had the Italian ice mangonada which was really smooth and my little one had the chocolate icecream, that was good and not super rich it was more like a creamy Dutch icecream. I do not like super rich chocolate icecream but I liked this one. I had the cheesecake icecream and that was delicious! There is plenty of outdoor seating for an evening outside with some cold treats. Price was not bad. 12 bucks for 4 small cups. Will be returning.
Stopped here for some quick refreshments. Their shave ice is amazing, somehow it's super creamy and packed with flavor, including fruit bits. I got a large mango shave ice, and it was like eating a mango smoothie, light and very flavorful. They've got ice cream and lots of other options as well
Since DAY 1 of this place, they have been AMAZING with their products. It's like this magical place where you order at the tinted windows, they close the window, and next thing you know, BOOMMMM, freaking tasty treats, corn π½ π½ in the cup, fresca, and more!!! Even the environment and all the colorful pictures and goodness, makes all of us excited with the kid inside us. I have to say, hands down, this is one of my favorite places on earth π!! β€οΈππππ―πβ¨ππππππ«
It's been a long, long while since our first visit and Las Nieves has grown - looks like they have expanded to locations at Thousand Oaks and Blanco and there are so many options to cool you off on a hot day!
The one initial downside was the long line that didn't seem to move for a while. They now have Italian ice which was more like a sorbet texture. That's what my husband and I both got. Glad to know that you can have 2 flavors in a medium so I got the pina colada and mango. My husband got the mango and cherry. Mango had bits of fresh mango and the pina colada had bits of coconut. Very refreshing! Was most definitely worth the wait!
There's a bunch of picnic tables under a canopy for people to enjoy their desserts.
I was curious about the raspa with ice cream so we'll definitely have to go back.
It's cool that they also bring the desserts to your party.
Fun friendly place to get cooled off! Delicious respados. Had the coconut with Chamoy and the mango loco. Family had watermelon with Tajin, and pina with Chamoy. All we're delicious. I will visit when I'm in town! Lots of ice creams to choose from also... though I'll never try any because their ices are so good!
The fruit cups were worth the money in amount of fruit and the delicious flavors . Very fresh and fun to eat. Friendly staff and an all around cool place to chill and enjoy.
I love this place! The corn in a cup is super tasty and everything is absolutely delicious. Also, really affordable and reasonable prices. The sizing is pretty odd since small differs from one item to another. I highly recommend this place for a pit stop!
This is the place to be for Italian shaved ice! Their prices are great and their selection is incredible! They also have just about everything else you could want, from corn in a cup to hot cheetos with cheese! I recommend this place to everyone in existence, ans I will be coming here regularly!

They have ceiling fans, lots of picnic tables, enjoy whatever you desire. The lines are always long but they move fast.
I ordered Italian Ice and had it for three hours. It was very tasty. It never melted. It stayed cold. Does anybody know how it's made?
