First off the bartender Mark was very knowledgeable about all the different drinks that they had available, if you like coffee drinks I had the drink called "The harder they come" it was just absolutely amazing. I also had another drink called Dolce vita I think, very good as well. Then second of all there was Francois the server, who apparently had been there at the restaurant since it first opened. I must say I have eaten at a lot of dinner parties where I've had good service, but Francois takes home the medal. He was absolutely phenomenal. Great attitude, great service, just an excellent experience overall. He was on top of his "A" game. And now the food. The food was out of this world. It's no wonder the Chef was named "Best Chef of 2017" and voted the number one restaurant of 2017. This was perhaps the best Italian restaurant I've ever eaten at. If anyone is ever in the San Diego area in the liberty station area stop by this place. You won't be disappointed. I would give this establishment a 10 out of 10.
Every time me and my wife come to Solare we are never disappointed. The food and service is first class. We love that chef Accursio is constantly finding the freshest and best ingredients. We also love that the menu changes with the seasons. Definitely recommend.
Solare has some of the best food I've ever had, and the service is top notch! If you can afford to splurge, I strongly recommend Chef Lota's tasting menu...he will surprise you but in the most delightful way!
A wonderful place to dine. Outstanding food, outstanding service! Each course was a feast for the eyes, the flavor of each dish was amazing. Great selection of wines! You won't be disappointed.
Super service and attention to gluten free needs. Tehy make their own GF bread and GF pizza crust. All very super fresh and top notch.
We loved Solare ! Our waiter Bill was attentive but not overly. We were seated I the private wine room. Our meal was fantastic. You deserve to treat yourself here !
Food is delicious...Made so much better because our waiter Pedro F. was so personable. He spent a lot of time with us, showing us the dinner menu and answering all of our questions. What a great young man. We cannot wait to visit Solare again!
Petra, the manager, is just the best. If you have a group meal, go to Solare. The food was awesome as well. Service was excellent. I just cant say enough. Solare is our new San Diego Favorite!!
Loved this place, the food was great! The service excellent and Mark(c) was an awesome server and had a great personality besides. had the Fettucine with seafood, yummy!

Another wonderful dinner with my friends at "Solare". Have never been disappointed. Loved everything, had the cesare salad Solare style and pesce del giorno, pistacchio creme brûlée out of this world. Service and ambience excellent. I recommend it highly.
The food and service were second to none. Some of the best Italian food I've had.
We go to this place everytime we visit Point Loma from Sweden. The lasagne is to die for!
My boyfriend and I had the most delicious food and an incredibly fun experience at the Chef's Table - which is a counter overlooking the kitchen. We got to see them work and they even gave us a couple samples of things. One-of-a-kind experience!
Solare worked incredibly hard to make our family engagement dinner for our parents extra special. We were seated in their private back room, and Petra came in and said hello. She offered them a complimentary glass of Prosecco to celebrate. Our server was excellent, the food incredible and our experience - amazing!

I loved it. Excellent gluten free menu. Fantastic service.
Decent food, fantastic service - for high prices. Our food was delicious except for the chicken dish, which was heavily overcooked. That being said, our waiter was extremely kind and patient and offered us a free dessert for the overcooked chicken. Across the board, a good experience - we would absolutely come back.
I can’t believe it took me this long to try this place! But with the Michelin recognition AND San Diego Magazine, I felt it worth the try. Now, I can’t wait to return to try more of the menu and bring friends and family.
The service is attentive, knowledgeable, and experienced. The food is just so, so good. There’s a solid selection of dishes from various regions of Italy, which is a plus. You don’t have to be in the mood for Sicilian food, because there’s lots of Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna on the menu, as well.
They clearly care about their sourcing, and it shows. Highly recommend.
To die for meals. I shared the mussels in red sauce with my sister in law.. they were absolutely fantastic , we were in heaven.
The Mahi Mahi in a red sauce really was incredibly tasty .. the best I ever had.
The creme broulée was very good for my dessert.
It was so wonderful.
It was my Birthday dinner.
Our waitress was a sweet lady.. everybody was so nice.
Can't wait to go back!💞
My husband made a reservation here for our anniversary and it was absolutely wonderful! We were in the wine room which provided a quiet intimate place to talk and laugh with each other without hearing other conversations from patrons of the restaurant. Our waitress was absolutely lovely! She was attentive and so very sweet. The care and attentiveness she provided was spectacular. We even met thr owner which was picking out a bottle of wine during our dinner. He was very friendly and stylish. When the food arrived it was cooked to perfection and delicious! This restaurant is a gem that you will fall in love with.
This is an expensive place, but being San Diego you don't have to dress up, my friends wore hoodies and jeans. The wait staff is not stiff but formal, kind and funny. The atmosphere was beautiful and the music was not too loud, in fact I loved it because they played Otis Redding all night!! The food was amazing, and the drink selection even better. Not a huge selection of gluten-free food options though...maybe that's why I liked the drinks better. They had a gluten-free pizza crust that was spongy and delicious. They had gluten-free bread to eat before dinner which was also spongy and like a focaccia you could dip in they're olive oil, although I didn't get their yummy spices in it, like the others. Highly recommend the old fashioned like drink. And our friends were rolling their eyes how delicious the porkchops were. Another must mention is the pistachio creme brulee, which was more like chocolate with a couple pistachios on top😋
Great find while in SD! Highly recommend if in the area. Our sever Sarah did a great job. Menu has some great selections and there are daily specials.
Feast of the Seven Fishes. If you see it, get it. Typically a festival happening, we are at Solare for the Christmas Eve dinner. Tonno Crudo, Lobster Bisque, Calamari Salad, GIANT Mexican Shrimp, Cioppino in a white broth, Swordfish Filet and Stuffed Panettone. Every bite was delicious made more so by sauces and garnishes. A fantastic meal with the freshest fish from Tommy Gomes "The Fishmonger". We love Solare, Randy, Tommy and the whole Solare team. That's why we keep going back.
I’ve never had a bad experience here. The owner is very hands-on and the consistency of the food and service is always spot on
Sitting outside has plane noise so I would recommend dining inside. They have a great private room for a ~10 person party or so. They also have an experience where you can sit at the kitchen and watch the chef and cooks work. They’ll do a custom meal for you. Very cool.
So close to amazing, but came up short this visit. I want to go again and see if they can do better, because it really seems like they could. The server left us between our order and when our main entrees came out, without taking my drink order. Otherwise he was great. And my sides were poorly done - grilled cherry tomatoes were room temp and very off putting because of it and the fingerling potatoes were badly undercooked. The lamb chops were close to perfection though and my wife loved her lobster ravioli.
Enjoyed a lovely meal with my family. I had never had spiny lobster before and it was perfection. I loved their foccacia with olive oil. The pistachio creme brulee and chocolate caramel mousse are worth ordering again.
Menu options are various and each with it unique twists. The presentation was outstanding and restaurants atmosphere was beautiful. With this said, you are a renowned Italian establishment and eating outside is not as pleasant as indoors (chairs & tables outside are very uncomfortable and not very appealing.) That being said the full bar and extensive wine list was nice to see great selection.
The service was great they checked on us the perfect amount and they split our salad for us without us asking.
The food was great. Very tasty and reasonably priced.
Dined for restaurant week last night. I don't know about everyone else but this restaurant week pricing really seems to be going sky high. This place was a $40 offering. I had the bruschetta, bolognaise. And a puff pastry cream thing for desert which was delightful. All the dishes were presented well. My only criticism is that I would have liked a slightly bigger portion of the bolognaise. It was delicious though. Very tasty.
We sat outside which had a lovely atmosphere. It was a covered patio with space heaters. Staff were all friendly and courteous.

My wife and I were walking around Liberty Station like we often do looking for something good to eat. We had seen Solare a couple of times but for one reason or another didn't try it until today. We walked up to the hostess to ask for a table that we got even without a reservation. We ordered a couple of lasagnas, plus drinks, coffee and dessert that was promptly served by our nice server. Prices were a bit higher than what we expected but you know what? everything is more expensive these days. We will be back when in the area.
I stopped in this evening for an early dinner while staying in the area. I was seated outside right away. Service from Ahmed was great. I ordered the appetizer special zucchini blossoms which were very good. I ordered the fettuccine and substituted the shrimp with chicken. It too was very good. A great experience. I’ll be back next time I’m in town
Glad to have gotten a chance to finally try this place out. It's good, competent Italian food with a nice variety of entrees that I would love to try again.
Must have is the Crema Bruciata al Pistachio. The scallop was amazing.
Been my Italian go to for years. Excellent home made pastas , pizzas and entrees. great atmosphere and service. A must try for Italian in San diego
