My friend took me here for my birthday, since I was in town, and we got the Omakase style sushi on Monday, August 13th. I was literally blown away with the quality of the fish and how accommodating the waitress/chefs were with my allergy. It was by far, the best sushi experience ever! Being from the East Coast, it is extremely hard to find good quality sushi, so I was highly satisfied. Thanks again for making my bday dinner amazing!

We ate here for the first time tonight and are already planning our next dinner. We tried many new sushi and relished in every piece. Each piece--nigiri or sashimi--was delicious. While some were a clear favorite, none of the pieces disappointed us; our favorites tonight were the kanpachi and zuke tuna. But the oyster, golden eye snapper, and Omakase sashimi plate were fantastic. We eat sushi about once a month and have tried many sushi places in San Diego. We just found our new favorite. Thank you, Chef Takeaki Tadokoro for an amazing sushi experience: you made our night so much more than just eating fish--sharing about where each fish came from and answering questions impressed us greatly as not many chefs engage so quickly. You made us feel welcome and made great recommendations. We will be back for more! This place is a small intimate hole-in-the-wall. I'd recommend making reservations on a Saturday. We did not: we arrived shortly after dinner opening time and many of the spots had reserved signs. We were able to be seated right away, but had we come later, we wouldn't have been able to. The ambiance is simple, clean, and down-to-earth. Couple this with fresh and tasty sushi, you have a wonderful night.

Be far the best sushi restaurant in San Diego from elegance, taste, value and service. If there is an exception to my statement then we can dance in the moonlight and discuss the ignorance of our differences. Just playing, I am putting words together ! This place is the bomb - just try it !

Authentic traditional Japanese sushi. It brought me back to my time living in Japan. The food was exceptionally delicious and the staff was wonderful. Enjoyed sitting at the bar and will definitely be back for some more.

Hands down one of the best sushi restaurants in San Diego if not the US.

The food and atmosphere was great! Nice to have a real legitimate sushi establishment in San Diego.

日本でしか美味しいお寿司は食べれないと思ったら大間違え。すし田所は日本の純の味と変わらず、魚類がたくさんあって楽しく食べられました。田所さん、ご馳走様でした。

I travel all over the world and Todokoro has the best sashimi....like butter!!! If there is a global award it needs to be awarded here. Not just my opinion...I bring colleagues from Asia and Europe and they go crazy for Tadokoro. Great job guys!

Off the charts. Tried all kinds of Sashimi and most of them melted in my mouth. Extremely fresh and the pointed out where the fresh came from - Spain, Japan, etc.

Amazing!

Been here about 4-5 x, always super fresh and authentic japanese experience. Good service each visit. Ordered hamachi, scallop, ami ebi, red snapper and a couple of cut rolls. All the fish was delicious and presented beautifully. My favorite item on the menu is the fabulous mushroom salad. Top of the line sushi, will be returning as often as possible!

Excellent and very fresh sushi. Attentive staff and food reasonably priced. However- they seemed to reserve the Sushi bar for Japonese speaking patrons and they lavished them with treats and extra food. Round eyes sitting at tables. Otherwise- great food and atmosphere.

AH-MAZING. Good Food & Great Service, what more can you ask for? It may seem like they have few to choose from but you can pretty much ask for whatever you want. Everyone is extremely attentive and very nice. This place is very new as I heard the head Sushi chef explain that they have only been open about 4 months. They are so good that I have to write a review. I love sushi restaurants that serve fresh seafood and there are only a few that actually do! I recommend reserving a table or a spot at the bar. They are only open for dinner and it fills up quick! Almost forgot to mention that they at super easy to find, definitely one of my fave sushi spots!

As a Michelin starred restaurant, our expectations are high! I would say, the experience was great! We love most of the food. The chef, who was making most of the food, was right in front us, explained all the food to us. Our of so many great food we ate, the clear fish soup wowed me the most. We had a good time!

One of the best meals I have ever had. We did the 9 course omakase. I have a shellfish allergy and they were able to make alterations to accommodate me. HIGHLY recommend!

Sushi Tadokoro is a pretty good sushi spot but not an amazing one. They had interesting fish choices but for the price there are better omakase spots to go to. Also the chairs were really uncomfortable

This was our splurge meal of our Southern California trip. We did omakase at the bar and our sushi chef was fun and a well-skilled. However, I was a little bit ill and couldn't enjoy myself fully. I'm not sure if it was my illness or what, but it also wasn't the best omakase we've had in terms of taste. My biggest regret is not ordering the homemade dessert. I misheard the chef and thought all of the dessert was homemade and ordered the ice cream. We have to go back for a re-do!

This was my first Michelin Experience and I don’t think it could have gone any better. I ordered the Sashimi Omakase and it was phenomenal. The sushi chefs were very fun and knowledgeable and made it a really enjoyable experience. The service all around was great, and I’d definitely recommend this place if you have the time

What an incredible experience.... Food was off the charts amazing, and each course was a surprise. We were both surprisingly full at the end. Their cold sake menu is pretty extensive with some rare (and expensive) options. They offer beer and hot sake also, but no (western) wine option. There's no way I could pick just one dish as the favorite as each was amazing...even the desert (coffee flavored custard/gelee with a chocolate espresso bean garnish) was amazing. My wife said it was arguably the best dessert she's ever had. Reservations required and fill up fast...

I think the star rating here on Google is exactly correct (When writing this:4.7). This is such an amazing omakase experience there is no complaints and I would gladly return. On that same note, the canonization of a Michelin Star sets the expectation to perfection. Can Sushi Tadokoro stay relevant? I hope so.

Omakase for $160 per person. Make a reservation online. The food was very delicious. It was so fresh that the shrimp was still moving. Even the soup was good. Do not get the ice cream for dessert. Get whatever was homemade.

Really loved this place. Everyone at the bar got their own chef to serve them and the sushi was great. Unique dishes. A great omasake experience!

One of the best meals I've ever had in my life. The difference between good sushi and this level quality is clear fun the first bite. It's a small place and it does get noisy, but not too the point where it feels crowded or to loud. Service is excellent. There are two people working the room and sometimes both of them check to make sure the table is doing well. At $160 a person, it's not a place that most people can afford to go to regularly. But for special occasions, it's well worth it.
