I had eaten here the week before and thought the menu was lacking and overpriced. When I attended this time, I asked for the gluten free menu which is not mentioned on the regular menu or by service members. I found it on line. I had the tacos off of this menu that were excellent and reasonably priced. NEED to put this on the regular menu so people know that gluten free menu is available. Angela
Pretty classy joint for a zoo! We enjoyed our meals by a waterfall. Drink specials available throughout the week; a merciful gift to parents (we are not, but still took advantage). I had a light lunch and took interest in what the patrons around me were having. The presentation of some of the richer dishes was really nice.
If you want a fancy, sit-down meal while at the San Diego Zoo, this is the place. It’s pricey but the food is clearly superior to everything else you’ll find at the zoo. It’s best to either get a reservation or get there when they first open because the place fills up fast. The atmosphere is cool. It’s an elevated structure built amongst the trees to give you the impression that you’re dining in a giant treehouse. They have an indoor dining area and a patio.
You must go here- best kept secret!!. I love the hidden nice restaurants at theme parks. Albert's is no exception. This was my husband's favorite meal of our whole weeklong trip. Actually we both got the same thing that day: jambalaya. it's funky and served with noodles. We ordered spicy- it's HOT! The bread they serve is hot and fresh. Endless drinks. We were so full. I am glad we made reservations and sat outside by the waterfall. When the hostess heard we were from NY, she must have told the manager and he came over to check on us (or he just wasn't that busy at the moment). For the same amount of money you'd easily spend at quick service, you can have a serene meal with a nice menu and quality table settings in the shade for a bit. Loved it.
Albert's. Delightful, tasty treats, in the heart of the San Diego Zoo; Imagine that a restaurant in a zoo, worthy of it's allure; more than decent grub to be had, I dig the artichokes for sure. If you're feeling hungry, check it out if you've got time.
I got in before the crowd but there was a real long wait when we were leaving.
Wife and I tired, hungry and thirsty after our trek through the wild country. Stumbled into Alberts and had a great light meal and drinks. Affordable, good food, drinks and friendly staff placed conveniently within the San Diego Zoo. Will visit again on our trip to San Diego. Cliff/Sandi L. Elk Grove CA
Excellent food and service! Amazing find in the middle of a zoo!
What a Pleasant Surprise. We never expected to get a wonderful, enjoyable meal in the zoo. The setting is picturesque and the food was memorable. We sat outside on the patio surrounded by lush trees and a roaring waterfall. We were quickly served tall glasses of freshly brewed passion iced tea and warm bread with whipped butter. I had a delicious salmon salad that was perfectly seasoned and prepared. My husband had a mozzarella sandwich that was wonderful. Both of our sons finished their kids meals and reported being happy with the restaurant. When we return to the zoo, we will be visiting Alberts again. Well done to the zoo!
Okay, the location of Albert's is what sets it apart from other locations. It sits a tranquail location of the World Famous San Diego Zoo. Sit outside and listen to the waterfall. I appreciate the rotating menu that changes. Ordered the breakfast burger. It was well seasoned and so large that I deconstructed it to enjoy the variety of flavors. The mimosa flight was okay. Will eat their again.
Really cute spot! I've eaten here a few times now, and I love the food. I highly recommend the cheesy garlic bread! I also just had their seasonal drink, the candy cane cocktail, and it was delicious!! I finally got to sit on the deck next to the waterfall, and I loved it. Very nice ambience, and got a nice glimpse of the sunset.
Gorgeous tucked away restaurant at the World Famous San Diego Zoo. We came on a Friday morning and were able to get a reservation right at opening. We were seated inside and ordered the steak, fries, and tomato basil soup. Our server, Madison was not only kind but so attentive! She was quick to bring anything extra that we needed and definitely enhanced our experience with her service. The soup was AMAZING. I asked for the salmon to be more medium rare than well done and the chef(s) cooked it to perfection! The veggies were soft and cauliflower puree was so delicious I had to ask for more!
Lovely place to eat while visiting this Zoo! We came on a Thursday and there was no wait. Love how they made this restaurant inside the habitat that used to belong to Albert 🦍. We sat outside by the waterfall which made for a beautiful experience! The wait staff was amazing by accommodating our order. We shared a tomato bisque and the chicken sandwich which was plenty for my husband and I. The nice waitress had the kitchen split both of them to serve us our own. Everything was delicious, everyone was kind, and the atmosphere was memorable. Oh, and do order from their signature cocktails! Their vodka strawberry lemonade and their Tequila cucumber drinks were great 👍🏼
Enjoy sitting in the patio, while a lovely breeze and beautiful waterfall create a relaxing atmosphere for you. The only sit down restaurant in the park. Great food, fast & friendly service. You can call ahead for reservations, handicap accessible too... Elevator available close by.
This is the second year we've paired a visit to the San Diego Zoo's Jungle Bells with dinner at Albert's Restaurant. The service, atmosphere, and, most importantly, the food, are all first class. The Crispy Brussel Sprouts appetizer, with balsamic vinegar, is really delicious. And my steak was perfect cooked with my equally-delicious Steak Frites. I can see this becoming a tradition for us.
You really need reservations here if you don't want to wait hours. The food is good but not a ton of options. Kids menu seemed good for kids but the flavors were more for grownups. The quesadillas were made with corn and fried crispy something most kids aren't as adjusted to. Service was also a little hard to get as they seem to be running low on staff and overworking them. Poor employees looked like they were working hard but just not enough help.
Says reservation required, but that's not true.
Says there is a Bloody Mary flight, but that's not true.
Food was nice to look at, lacking in flavor.
Get a patio seat and it's worth it.
We ordered cheesy garlic bread as an appetizer and got their salmon, chicken burger, and chicken Cesar salad. Although we waited about 25 minutes, it was definitely worth it. The food was good and service was great., a bit in the pricy side, but don’t compromise on good taste. We sat outside where there was a waterfall.
Went for our wedding anniversary lunch. Sat by the railing next to the waterfall and stream. Service and food was fantastic. Felt like being in another tropical country.
This was a very nice place to eat. The staff is much friendlier and more attentive here than at other food locations in the zoo. The waterfall out back provides a lovely ambiance whilst dining on some tasty food. I would recommend this restaurant because you get better food, better service, and a nice air conditioned environment. And if you have a souvenir sipper they'll refill it there for free if you have the receipt! Excellent experience!
EDIT: During my most recent to I noticed that the prices had increased quite a bit since my previous visit. The prices are more "premium" because of all the positive things I mentioned above. I'd still highly recommend the place because it makes for a great experience. Menu photo was taken 5/3/2023.
Great place inside the San Diego zoo, romantic and fun. Food is mediocre. Salmon was overcooked, steak undercooked, wedge salad was soggy, brussel sprouts too sweet.
By far the best restaurant food and drinks we've had at any amusement park or attraction. The drinks rival that of the local bars I go to (I'm a San Diego local). We spent Thanksgiving here and the food was excellent. It's very family friendly. If you don't mind a very loud atmosphere then dine inside. We almost always choose to dine outside where the beautiful waterfall is, unless it's cold as there are no patio heaters.
We kicked off our meal with cheesy garlic bread and proceeded to savor their salmon, chicken burger, and chicken Caesar salad. Despite a 25-minute wait, the experience was truly worthwhile. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. While it leans towards the pricier side, the exceptional taste makes it a worthwhile indulgence. We opted for outdoor seating, enjoying the soothing ambiance of a nearby waterfall.
Wow we were really impressed much better than we ever anticipated having in the zoo we will definitely be back as a matter of fact we're thinking about just making a lunch date to come here just for this the staff was very friendly and helpful to hostesses were the best George are waiter was very friendly and helpful made sure we got exactly what we ordered top notch thank you so much for caring enough to provide a place like this for us
Albert’s restaurant is a hidden gem! I’ve been to the zoo countless times and only recently stumbled upon it. My husband and I finally got to try it and let me tell you, it’s not like any other theme park restaurants at all in the best possible way! The service was outstanding, the food was delicious, the drinks were very good, and the ambiance was perfect with a beautiful view of a waterfall.
We tried a few of their signature dishes and they were all very yummy. I highly recommend checking out this restaurant! For those who like fun drinks, the place has a great selection!
Best food I've ever had at a zoo or park anywhere. The cocktails were good, the steak was delicious and the birria tacos were a delightful surprise. Also don't skip the flour less chocolate torte! 5 out of 5, would happily eat again.
