This place is great for happy hour. However when we were there, no AC was on or they don't have it. We almost left because it was so hot. Actually there was a party of 4 that came in and said out loud "oh no AC we are not staying."

Open for five years now in the Kensington area of San Diego, Owner and Chef Ken Irvine says he opened Bleu Boheme because he loves neighborhood restaurants. “When my guests walk through our doors, we want to take them away to a “different place”, he says. “What sets us apart is our stellar service, quality cuisine and a unique ambiance.”
Amazing! The escargot is incredible!
If you are looking for an awesome happy hour an Adams, look no further. Drinks and food are half off. (happy hour is from 5-6) The mussels are great and the ambiance is very French and romantic.
Worth a 2nd visit. Booked online for anniversary dinner 11/5 saturday night (7:45) and table was ready and waiting. Server was friendly and knowledgeable. Escargot, duck, and stuffed chicken breast was all awesome. House salad could've used more bleu cheese. We never received the bread loaf, but we were full enough anyways. We received a complimentary chocolate Mousse dessert for our special occasion. We were not rushed and liked the atmosphere. Overall very good and will go back to try the mussells that everybody around us was ordering.
First time dining here ... Such a wonderful treat !!!
The brunch is highly recommended and well worthy of the price. I recommend the salmon and the chocolate flourless cake along with the lavender lemonade mimosas. Not to be missed
J'adore Bleu Boheme. I really enjoyed the lobster eggs benedict. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. Service was great.
Absolutely amazing. My friend and I decided that we wanted to go for French food and we found this place. It was a pretty jam-packed place when we got there but they seated us rather quickly. The service was wonderful. The waiters were warm and helpful. We ordered a lobster crepe as an appetizer and it was so incredible. The sauce was so good that I used the bread to soak it up until it was all gone. I ordered (if I remember correctly) the Filet de Saumon (salmon) and it was so good. I was thoroughly stuffed. Then it was time for the dessert. I had gotten a creme brulee and this was the low point of my dinner. It wasn't anything like the creme brulees I've had in the past. It was more like a pudding rather than a custard. And the sugar was burnt a little too much so it actually tasted burnt. But overall, everything was great. I mean, we spent 2 hours there and it didn't feel like 2 hours at all. Definitely will go back the next time I'm in town.
Just like being in Paris!. The cheese platter with honey comb, the mussels with French fries garnished with lavender, and the chocolate mousse were all just to die for! It was just like being in Paris! We will definitely be back soon!!!!!
Incredible!. Great Food, Great Wine, Great Ambience!!!! Everything you would want in a great dining experience. Must Try in San Diego!!
I can't get enough of it, this is the best food you can find in San Diego . My favourite is duck confit , excelent food.
J'aime Bleu Boheme!. I've sampled breakfasts and dinners here, and not been disappointed. Sadly, they have stopped offering the saffron aioli to accompany the complimentary bread at the beginning of your meal, but everything else is still terrific. I like the addition of the early bird prix fixe menu. The Boeuf Bourguignon and Koulibiac de Saumon (salmon baked in a puff pastry with vegetables, or what I call salmon en croute) is outstanding! The portions for the prix fixe are slightly smaller than the standard entrees, but it is enough to satisfy a hungry diner while (barely) leaving room for the included dessert. I could happily eat my way through the menu, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
EXCELLENT FIND!. My girlfriend and I were lucky enough to dine at this restaurant to begin San Diego Restaurant Week. This place is an amazing find in an obscure area of San Diego! Everything was brilliant, the vibe and feel when you walk in is warm and inviting. It does not have the attitude that normally follows restaurants of this quality in other areas of San Diego. The prix fix menu on this evening was perfect, the appetizers were delicious and very creative. My girlfriend, who does not eat meat or chicken, really enjoyed the salad as did I. The salmon and pork chops as a main dish were equally excellent and the dessert of crepes and nutella was awesome! The whole experience was delightful and we cannot wait to return!
Viewing the regular menu led us to believe that the best time for us to return would be during the early bird special. Between 5 and 6 the restaurant offers a prix fix menu that looks great and costs only 22 dollars!
Kensington Gem. We chose Bleu Boheme to celebrate our anniversary, and we were to glad we did. We sampled appetizers, salads and entrees...my husband and I chose different ones...and everything was wonderful and beautifully presented. Our server was very knowledgeable when asked about wines and right there when we needed anything. Highly recommend.
We went here on Halloween for my grandpas 80th birthday. It was OUTSTANDING! From the appetizers to the main course, everything was excellent! It made for a VERY special birthday and we will definitely be back!!
I had a great time at Bleu Bohème! The food and the atmosphere were fantastic.
I ordered the Poulpe Rôti, and the octopus was cooked perfectly. It was the best part of my meal. The Tartare de Saumon was good too, but I thought it would be fresh salmon instead of smoked. The menu did mention smoked salmon, though.
I also tried the Bourbon Vieilli. It's strong, so if you like strong drinks, it's a good choice.
The restaurant has a nice and cozy feel, making it a great place to enjoy a meal.
I'm looking forward to going back to Bleu Bohème and trying more dishes.
Enjoy your meal!
*Blue Bohème* on Adams Ave in San Diego is an absolute gem! The moment you step in, the ambiance whisks you away to a romantic Parisian hideaway. The culinary journey is pure magic—every dish is a symphony of flavors crafted with finesse. From the buttery escargot to the exquisite coq au vin, each bite transports you to the heart of France. The attentive staff curates an experience that's both sophisticated and warm, making every visit memorable. A must-visit for anyone seeking exceptional French cuisine in an enchanting setting!
We went for our anniversary and they left a card for us and made my wife feel very special.
Stumbled upon this hidden gem! So much character, drippy candles, romantic atmosphere, food was incredible. Best gnocchi I’ve ever had in my life. Thank you Lisa for sneaking us in, and to Gigi for being an awesome waiter. We will be back!
My husband decided to splurge and took us out for date-night to enjoy dinner at the French restaurant, Bleu Bohème. We both had the Confit de Canard, which was a duck leg confit served over a creamy goat cheese polenta with baby kale and leeks and a delicious olive relish. We enjoyed it with a Singapore Sling to drink and then ended it with some delicious dessert. I had the profiteroles and he had the chocolate mousse. Everything was delicious! The skin of the duck was crispy while the meat was tender and juicy. The mousse was light and airy, yet decadent at the same time. The profiteroles were delicious and the French vanilla ice cream in the middle was so creamy and flavorful. Everything was absolutely perfect! We definitely will be going back some day.
Delicious. They change up their menu just barely every season to keep fresh but they stay nearly the same.the only thing that wasn’t perfect this most recent visit was there wasn’t any chicken dish as an option right now. They used to always have a chicken option and it was always amazing. If it’s possible, their portions got larger.
Went here for my birthday dinner and I was very impressed.
Atmosphere
So romantic. One of the most romantic restaurants I’ve been to in San Diego. The candlelight made my date with my girlfriend even more dazzling.
Staff
Exceptional. They wrote a card for my birthday and had a little scoop of mousse sent to the table, which was perfectly rich and chocolately.
Food
My girlfriend got the mussels with fries and I got the beef bourguignon. The mussels were exquisite and I felt like there were more mussels than typically served at restaurants. The fries were thin and crisp. The beef bourguignon was savory but not overly salty. The beef melts in your mouth. We got a half loaf of sourdough, which was very crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. And so warm. We also got a lobster crepe, which was the best food of the night. I recommend dipping the bread in the sauce. Finally, we got the “wine for a dime” deal.
Recommend?
Yes, if you’re looking for a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, this is a great choice. I’m sure we’ll go to other French restaurants in San Diego but I’m also sure that Blue Bohéme will be one of the best, if not the best.
I came here for a special dinner with a couple close friends and we enjoyed tons of delicious french food. The ambiance was nice in the restaurant, with candles used in place of lamps or lights. We started with a lovely charcuterie and cheese board, bread, and wine. Entrees were all delicious. The service was top notch and we had a great time. The seafood dishes were favorites among our group, especially the moules frites (mussels and fries). Great spot for a date night.
Love this place, decent size and not super busy like other similarly elegant French restaurants. So one can usually get a table which is great! The parking isn't always great cause Kensington gets busy, but its worth a little walk to get there! The food is awesome, yes, I said awesome and I meant it. Everytime its spot on, portions are great, wine is excellent, staff is nice and prompt. This is a gem, highly recommended! Had crab cakes and mussels this time. The mussels come with a bunch of sauce options, I cant wait to try them all!
It was my wife’s birthday today. I want to thank everyone at Bleu Bohème for the kind and wonderful gesture today. We are being grateful. Thank you so much.
We go here a few times a year on date nights or with friends. BB is nestled in the cute neighborhood of Kensington and surrounded by a bunch of other cool restaurants and shops.
Bleu Bohème is a great experience. This is where the locals eat, the views are wonderful, and the restaurant of beautifully decorated, but in a unique old world way, not that cookie cutter contemporary look many are going for.
Pros:
• Great French Food
• Nice variety but not overwhelming
• Food comes out at a good pace
• Friendly / Professional Staff
• They treat you like family
• Great ambiance indoor and outdoor
• Date spot
• Easy to reserve a table same day
Cons:
• None
This might be my new favorite restaurant! Honestly, the overall vibe was amazing— everyone seemed to be having the meal of their life. The atmosphere gives ‘beloved neighborhood bistro,’ and the food is as delicious as the service is excellent.
Highly recommend moules frites a la moutard, which are like the traditional garlic, white wine, and shallots, plus Dijon mustard. They were glorious.
If you’re at all inclined toward charcuterie and bread, that was also wonderful. The pork terrine was the most craveable I’ve had anywhere in town.
Will definitely be coming back here for birthdays and other celebrations!
I visited this place for a special dinner with a few close friends, and we indulged in a variety of delicious French dishes. The restaurant's ambiance was lovely, with candles creating a cozy atmosphere instead of traditional lamps or lights. Our evening began with a delightful charcuterie and cheese board, accompanied by bread and wine. The entrees were all delectable, and the service was exceptional, contributing to an overall enjoyable experience. Among our group, the seafood dishes, particularly the moules frites (mussels and fries), were favorites. It's a fantastic spot for a memorable date night.
I would give the food a 3.5 but since there are no half stars, I'm giving it a 4 since the French Onion Soup was so freaking good.
The atmosphere at this restaurant was perfect and just what we expected. Service at the bar was quick and the drinks were very good. The rest of the service was okay but not what was expected at a restaurant with these price points. My friends and I had a drink at the bar. We were told our table was ready and were getting ready to settle up to move to our table when an employee came up, told us our table was ready and which table it was, told us the menus were already there, and that we should just go over when we were done. We carried our drinks and bread ourselves to our table. This restaurant is not huge and the bar is right near the host stand, so it would not have been difficult to see when we were ready to move.
Our server was quick to get to our table but the whole night, the service felt rushed and chaotic. The food was appropriately spaced out but it just seemed like the server or person running the food was in a huge rush every time they were near our table. When I'm paying $20+ for appetizers, I expect food runners to know where to put them on the table.
My friend ordered the mussels which are a whole section on the menu. Somehow, our server didn't know the were out. Not sure how they were out of mussels when it's such a huge part of their menu. Not only did she have to change her order, but the server never bothered to take them off our check.
We had the escargot which was fine but needed salt. The octopus was excellent though the goat cheese was not flavorful. The beef bourguignon was a little dry but the sauce was excellent. The French onion soup was perfect. The duck confit was also a little dry. The Fruits de Mer was swimming in butter and oil and did not have much flavor but the shrimp were huge.
The food is very buttery (expected in a French restaurant) and the bread is very flaky (in a good way) which means our paper tablecloth got very dirty. There was no attempt to clean it before dessert.
We ordered the chocolate mousse with seasonal berries and the server told us there were blackberries and raspberries (when I explained I have a blueberry allergy). We said that was perfect. The dish came out with 4 half strawberries. I mentioned this to the server and she seemed annoyed and came back with a dish with 7 blackberries.
After we finished our dessert, our server was nowhere to be found. We had to ask another server to get her after waiting for at least 15 minutes. It was close to closing time so I'm sure she was doing closing sidework but as a former server, I know this is a time you should be around.
The automatic tip options START at 20% on their credit card machine. I left 20% because it was easiest and we were ready to go, but the service wasn't at 20% level. It wasn't terrible, but the chaotic feeling, the dessert issue, the lack of mussels (maybe or maybe not our servers fault) the check issue, and not being around when we were done put me off.
Absolutely one of the best French restaurants I have found in SD. The decor, the ambience and the food were all top notch. We had a fromage and charcuterie plate to start. Then beef bourguignon and Brussel sprouts/squash vegetables 😋 and an amazing dessert menu. Wonderful wine menu! We will definitely be back again asap!
The food was so Tasty and fabulous the Servers were excellent. Thank you chef for your awesome work And beautiful creations.
Reserved a table here for Valentine's dinner for two. The duck confit was a challenge to order as I cannot have onions with my allergy. I asked and the waitress mentioned she would find out if it had onions and let me know, but never came back. The duck confit ended up being a salty duck leg and mashed potatoes. Very salty. The service is what you would expect for Valentine's dinner anywhere.... spotty.
I want to come back on a non holiday evening to give this place a real review, but can only give 4 stars for some of the misses and don't feel like giving a 3 star review is warranted.
Amazing food! I love the cozy atmosphere where you can have a nice conversation with your friends. The music wasn't too loud, and the music was just right. I ordered the best salmon of my life. The salmon skin was crunchy and the salmon is moist and juicy! It was amazing. I ordered cream brulee which never came but that's ok. We had an amazing time. Good for small gathering!
