Great lunch
Went twice for lunch and enjoyed both occasions. Second time shared crab steampot and quality excellent. Service was attentive and very helpful explaining things. Prices really reasonable and great drink selection. Next time in San Diego will visit on an evening too.
A coworked has raved about them for years so since I was in the neighborhood of one I thought I'd give it a try. It was good, and liking seafood I always want more seafood restaurants, but nothing special. Everything seems to be in "pots" which are galvanized buckets, hopefully lead free... I've had better, much better, but much worse too. Not inexpensive, but not overpriced, crab and seafood isn't cheap. 4 stars is being a little generous but 3 isn't quite enough.
Visited here during my travels. Had a great time and place has a great atmosphere. Our waitress Aoife pulled out all the stops in making us feel at home and special. Seeing as it was my birthday she made us feel extra welcome and we will be back
I fell in love with this place. First of all, it has a wonderful view. Second, the interior design is very cute. We had some appetizers like the Crab Nachos which were awesome!! The dip is amazing! We also had the super sampler. The crab cakes were heavenly and hot! For mains, I had the Lobster and Redfish. It was good too! And then there’s a platter which comes with a side of mac n cheese which does not show on the online menu. The mac n cheese tasted so good. It’s definitely a place worth visiting.
Good service loved the atmosphere! My glass of wine was huge and food was delicious! We took our 2 month old there and felt completely comfortable
I found the place difficult to find and used my GPS to get there. Happy hour is Monday - Friday 4-7 PM + 9PM - Close at the bar. The beer was cool, but I like my beer very cold. I tend to rate restaurants, specially with a full bar, lower if they bring me chilled beer instead of ice cold beer. I had to wait between 8-10 minutes to order more beer because I couldn't get the waitress' attention fast enough at the bar. There are 2 bartenders serving 30 people. But after voicing my concern with the bartender, she gave me a free beer. Now let's talk about the chow. It is my opinion that they have mastered seafood. This is as good as seafood gets. The location is gorgeous. They do have plenty of parking spaces. The restrooms are clean and average size.
Stunning Location. Right over the water of the marina. Have eaten on the gorgeous patio as well as inside. This place is all about having a good time. All of a sudden the music is turned up, the servers stop what they're doing and start dancing. If it's your birthday they might slap a hula skirt on you and have you hula for the crowd's amusement. If you have a stick up your behind, this isn't your kind of place.
Now moving on to the food - Wow. Huge portions. They brought a huge pail to the table full of crab legs and lobster tails. As I dug through it I found potatoes and corn on the cob. Everything was hot and fresh. And the taste? OMFG.
Don't forget to buy a "Got Crabs?" t-shirt.
Recommended.
Angel was awesome. My son and I had dinner there last night and it was wonderful. Our server Angel is a rock star! He was very attentive and has a great attitude. The food was amazing and the Smores dessert is the best in the world.
It's "just Joe", but he's good.. Joe's Crab Shack is the closest thing you'll get to The Crab Pot when in San Diego. I had time to kill before my flight back to Spokane and met some relatives here. It's hard to find without GPS and a hunch on getting behind the Convention Center. We had a wonderful time, and Ryan did a fabulous job for us (give Ryan a raise, he's super :)) The bill was stolen from me but I'm hoping my uncle tipped him appropriately. The steampots are really good but recommend the ones without the greenlip mussels; they were dry but the king crab legs were stupendous! The menu and drink variety was just what I was looking for to set off the end of my trip. The only menu item we were disappointed by was the crab cake salad. Whatever is used for the binder in the crab cake wasn't right. We saw 2 other diners who didn't eat theirs either. Next time I am near a Joe's I will be back to try some other things, and more Mai Tais!!
Fabulous!. We chose to sit out on the deck even though it was barely 60 degrees at the end of March, but as New Englanders...it was nothin'. We both had steampots. I chose the Sam Adams one with snow crabs, lobster claws, clams and smoked sausage. Comes with red potatoes and corn on the cob, all seasoned with a little bit of Old Bay. Everything was perfect and delicious. I'm usually not a fan of chains, but I wish this one had a location near me in PA/MD.
My wife and I ate there for the first time. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, fun staff and the crab was very good. Highly recommend for a fun night out.
A very nice restaurant on the waterfront overlooking the g harbour and serving great variety of seafood dishes, that are well made, aromatic and tasty.
We loved the Alaskan crab legs and the sea food sampler. We did try their fish and prawn tacos and fish and chips too.
Definitely a place to be for those who love fresh well made tasty sea food.
I had to wait five minutes because they were mopping the front but as soon as they let us in, they served us super fast and the service was 100% good food was amazing drinks super good price and the manager was really nice and apologized for us having to wait because they usually mop around 8-8:50 and he just didn’t want us to slip. The bartender was so amazing. We are thinking about coming back as soon as possible. Bathrooms are really clean and my wife is very picky about restaurants and she even used this one. We went after the game, so it was pretty late. There was still some people inside, but they took care of us like it was just us.
We hit Joe's Crab Shack during Comic-con, every year, though not very often in between. We always enjoy it; the service is friendly and efficient, the food is good, and the price point is fine for the location. I've enjoyed the blackened chicken Caesar, the Voodoo chicken fingers, shrimp, crab, etc. The place is fully accessible, with van parking, ramps, etc.
We had the King, Queen, and Snow crab with the shrimp platter. Very good! I wish the butter tasted better and wasn’t as cheap… Definitely recommend the king crab even though it’s the most expensive, there is more and it’s easier.
Great service! Great food! Enjoyable atmosphere! What's not to like!?! Walked from our hotel down the boardwalk, which was very nice! View is great here and getting to here! Tried other local seafood place hoping to experience something great, but was just a waste of money tbh. Will continue to search for others while here as well, but this place was great for Seafood!
The food and servicer were great. The stawberry margarita could have been more flovable.
The crab legs were very fresh and had a wonderful taste.
It was my first time coming to this location, I used to go to the one that was located in Fashion Valley. I went here with my two daughters and had a great time. Our server "Isaiah" (surely not spelled that way, sorry) was great and the other staff was cool as well and seemed happy to work there (which is always good). My daughters liked it and had fun also and we will be going again.
I had the Gumbo steampot, Very good. My portion in the photo is for 1 person. Nice location next to the ferry. Food was slower to come out, as they said the kitchen was backed up. The waitresses were very nice and attentive. All in all, it was exactly what I was craving and wanted. I would come back. Cute restaurant.
Great food and experience. There was some apparent confusion with us not receiving a waiter/waitress for 20-30 minutes after arrival. This was quickly addressed by the hostess and a manager came up to us, apologized, and comped our appetizers even though we had not brought up this issue nor complained. This is the best Joe's Crab Shack we have ever been to.
Great service and staff. No wait if u go to the bar area. Not a baseball fan, so not sure if they were busy beacuse of padres game.
We sat at the bar.
The bartender was very friendly and helpful.
Good was great, although we couldn't find the mushroom in the stuffed mushroom plate.
I haven’t been to a Joe’s Crab Shack in quite some time, but I’m soooo glad I went tonight. My friend and I split the two person steam pot with Cajun flavor and it tasted AMAZING! It was just the right amount for two full grown men to eat and had plenty of crab, shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage to eat. It was a little spicy but that’s how I like my Cajun anyway.
The place was clean and the employees were all very friendly. The server was very attentive and made the night seem very laid back. When we left all the employees we passed by wished us a good evening with plenty of smiles. I’ll definitely be going back here the next time I visit San Diego.
