Went on a Friday night. Good atmosphere but not a dinner sit down type place. One big drawback was that not only do you have to go and order ur food personally, you also have to go and pick it up and walk it back to ur table. Other than that food was good and it's reasonably priced. Parking is minimal esp on fri and sat nights so be prepared to park far away and walk. 4 pooltables, shuffleboard and darts and two fullbars. Highly recommended and would go again. Mixed aged crowd.
Great atmosphere, crowd not too rowdy. Good for social functions, not exactly a dine and sit-in place but the food is well prepared and served with good-size portions. Frequently revisted by patrons making parking limited so plan ahead. Looking forward to next visit.
McGregor Grill had great food(I love their soups and they have a great pretzel, yum), great service and a really great atmosphere. Also a nice place to play some pool. The place is always clean when I go and usually busy. I usually enjoy their Guiness on Tap with my meal.
I love this place when I visit San Diego and stay at the condos close by.
We came here to watch the US vs UK soccer tournament Qatar 22.
Great atmosphere with a mix of British and US locals.
Of course I had to have a Guinness beer. I am good menu items lots of variety, and good selection of find spirits.
Nice bar, they had a lot of good beers and the food was also on point! Plenty of TVs, 4 pool tables, an outside area with overhead heaters, two separate bars. Yea this place is huge! Would recommend!
Amazing combination! Soft and crispy patato chips. Outstanding!
The fries were amazingly cooked right. Everything from the taste a bit salty and soft just like fries should be.
The bar seemed to get half my order a bit messed but they were amazingly fast and reasonable on correcting it. Great customer service
The buns were just the right softness. The meat was medium rare and it was just cooked perfectly. Tender and juicy would be the right description. The cheeses were just rightly melted.
They have pool for a dollar and after 10pm it is free. Outside patio sitting and a tune player.
This place is great to hangout and chat with friends, watch games, play pool, bean bag toss outside, and host parties. I believe they also have events and live music. I love going on Mondays because that is when they serve their jalapeño mac n cheese. I recommend it with grilled chicken (need to add), won’t disappoint! I also recommend the fish and chips. Drink wise the cocktails I highly recommend they are all flavorful. There is seating outside and inside. Outside there is a small designated smoking area for people who do. If you look young enough upon entering there is always someone sitting out in the front to check for identification. Only persons of 21 and over are allowed into this establishment, regardless if they sell food.
It is one of the best places in which the kitchen is open for a long time and you can feel like you are at an original local pub. The food is okay, it is classical pub food, but the atmosphere makes all the difference. It is one of my happy places in SD and I recommend it to anyone looking for a local touch.
Update 3/10/23:
After the owner reached out to me and asked to give them another chance, my husband and I tried again on a Friday night. We took a seat at a high top table near the pool tables. It only took 2 minutes for the server to acknowledge us and said she'd be right back with some menus and water for us. Samantha was great. She snuck in a drink for me right at the end of happy hour so I could get the discount. She also brought my husband 2 glasses of soda so that if she got really busy, he'd have an extra one. I had a few Moscow Mules, we shared the fish & chips and had the grasshopper pie for dessert. The fish was done well, and the fries were cooked perfectly. The grasshopper pie was a huge piece of mint chocolate chip ice cream pie & it was delicious. Enough to share for sure. There was live music again and she was great. We want to come again on trivia night, so we'll be back. I'm glad we gave them another chance.
I wish I could give zero stars!. We went on a Friday night right before 6 pm. They had live music this night, although it was not that busy. The 2 guys at the door said to take a seat anywhere, so we took a hightop table next to the window. We started looking at the menu and decided what we wanted. But then we waited, and waited and waited. Not one server or employee even acknowledged us. Two male employees, who I think we busers, walked by several times. Two tables left around us, and these 2 guys cleaned both of the tables. Again, there is no acknowledgment. 2 female servers walked by us a few times. Again...no acknowledgment or I'll be right with you. No one even brought us water. Some new people sat in the 2 now empty tables around us, and they got menus & water almost right away. After 20 mins or so, we just got up and left. This is the worst service I've ever received. (well, no service, really). It is quite sad because we were excited to try this place since it's in our neighborhood. Stay away from this place unless you want to be ignored!!!
Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Lots of tvs for sports
Happy New Years! Thank you to McGregor's Team for making our special day the most memorable with fun cheers and delicious food!
100% if you need a fun location with delicious food (highly recommend you try their potato soup it's the best <3 ) check this place out with your friends + family, or even plan an event of your own, you wont' be disappointed.
Thank you Ian and Sam are the best to work with when planning a head and coordinating the day of special events.
Special shout out to the chefs in the kitchen that put together a whole banquet out on time, hot, and delicious. And to John at the bar, a great bar tender, that makes drinks that will lift your spirt.
Wishing McGregor's Grill all the best blessings in 2022 and beyond.
Cheers!
There's good bar food here now. It's good to watch sports here. There is one big oddity: it's the only bar I know of west of the Rockies that doesn't have Coors Light. Maybe they are in some difficult contract with the Budweiser distributor people.
It's a pub. Good beer selection. We only got the baked potato wedges but the cook nailed it. I'd go back for the potato wedges alone. Cleaner than most pubs. The tables and bathrooms are all well kept. Nice pool tables.
Great place to watch the games. The Fish & Chips are AMAZING!!! Great service. Thumbs up all the way!!!
This is one of the few places left in San Diego you can go and truly have a good time. Don’t worry about the fun police, they have never stopped by McGregors
Dropped by with the fellas after a round of golf. Good food, good beer and great service. They have 4 pool tables and a good atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
